top 10 (12* cuz I can't count :giraffe:)

10. City Girls - Twerkulator

Botched release aside this is such a fantastic use of a sample. Love how fun it is with some really iconic lyrics. Should have been no. 1 for 10+ weeks.

10. Lady Gaga - Stupid Love - COUCOU CHLOE Remix

Coucou Chloe transformed one of the most annoying songs to me to such an infectious banger. I literally could not get this remix out of my head for months after release

9. Japanese Breakfast - Be Sweet

Beautiful, talented, amazing, outstanding.. what else. The power this song has on my depression. She fears her!

8. SZA - Good Days

Such a powerful track from SZA. Love the production, lyrics... everything about this track really. SZA2 Please exist. Shirt (Bloodstain) is like no. 7.5 on my list as well.

7. Magdalena Bay - You Lose!

Okay there were too many options for Magdalena Bay but this was such an unexpected one from them. Everything about this so amazing

6 Normani - Wild Side

Well I couldn't think of a song to remove from my top 10 so it's a top 11.. actually a top 12 sajkdnasjk instead welp! This is such a sexy track from Normani and makes me so hungry for her debut coming whenever

6. Megan Thee Stallion - Thot Shit

The power this song has! Such a bop. Great production, lyrics, video... the way she manifested graduating this year too ugh.

5. Tinashe - Bouncin'

This banger whew. The video choreo is so crazy and probably the best from this year. Just love the energy of the track so much. Tinashe has IT.

4. Olivia Rodrigo - Deja Vu

The theatrics of this track is so amazing. Olivia really caught my attention with this one. Such a fantastic song

:3rdplace: 3. Lana Del Rey - White Dress

Lana's ability to capture complicated emotions with really simple words is just astounding. Everything about this song is so perfect to me and the kind melancholic nostalgia it evokes. WOW

:2ndplace:2. Doja Cat - Need To Know

The obvious stand out from Planet Her for me. Everything about this banger works for me. Her fun wordplay, the sexy hook ugh such a fun track.

:1stplace: 1. Gavin Turek - ILLUSIONS

Really heartbreaking love song on realizing your love isn't mutual but trying to hold unto the hope that they'll love you back :sosad:. Was an instant obsession for me and really stuck with me for most of the year.

deciding my no. 1 from these 3 was pretty difficult. All three are so different and kinda represent the variety of tracks I was really into this year

Mitski kinda did that with WFTK maybe we'll check out her next album!

Yes Faye! Really got more into her this year, I think AMC is still my fave album of hers but I really enjoyed a lot of songs as well in IKIFH

Molly Burch's Emotion was the first song I listened to this year, thank you Wild Nothing!

True, Erika did nothing but slay this year. Drama is a great pick!

Forgot about Hatchie but will be a late bloomer I guess.

I missed me some Abra and interested in seeing what she’s going to give in 2022. I am somewhat apprehensive for some reason.

Working for the Knife – I wish I used

_______

Favorites from the last sets: Syrup, Show Up, Pressure, Unlock It, Like I Used To, Addicted, LOST YOU, Have Mercy, Good Ones,

critiques ate up her album and I see the appeal

The whole top 10 (12) is really excellent actually, most of these songs made to my Best Of or truly just missed it by a mark. Glad that little best-of-ians universally agree that Deja Vu is Olivia's best song. The rest are all obvious highlights of respective albums and artists overall :allears:
