ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 23, 2021 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 23, 2021 HONORABLE MENTIONS #50-41 #40-31 #30-21 #20-11
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 23, 2021 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 23, 2021 #10: Lealani & Snakefoot - Lealani Snakefoot This is a great art pop / synth pop / trip hop project. It's definitely timeless in a way that it's not following any of the trends from 2021. If you're a quirky pop enjoyer I would recommend. It's kinda Bjork-ish at moments but there's just a lot of production tricks that I like. #9: Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Candy Racer I can't tell you how good it feels to have Yasutaka Nakata back. Like, actually back, forreal this time. It's something I never would think happened and this was the full project he gave us. It's got bangers and cutsey tracks. 8. Halsey - If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power I was never, to put it mildly, a fan, so I was very impressed with this album. It even has a shoegaze track! All around well executed without being try-hard. 7. St. Vincent - Daddy's Home I'll be honest this is my least favorite Annie album but it being 7 is a testament to how much I am a delusional stan. BUT it has about 5 tracks that are the best songs of all time, so I'm willing to put up with a couple skips. 6. Japanese Breakfast - Jubilee Sometimes I think indie rock is dead, but then I listen to Jubilee. 5. Playboi Carti - Whole Lotta Red Always been a huge fan of him and this is by far my favorite release of his. It's a production showcase for sure, and his ad libs highlight it. 4. Erika De Casier - Sensational Erika comes back stronger than before with a more contemplative and daring album than Essentials, with hints of Ibiza trance, and lots of 2-step and R&B (always an amazing combo) 3. Poppy - Flux Whenever an artist releases their "serious" album I'm always hesitant. I feel like most of the time its just boring or pretentious. Poppy of all artists did the impossible, and finally, my years of stanning have been vindicated! Take that! 2. Tinashe - 333 Tinashe is so hard to pin down because it feels like she wants to do everything all the time. And on 333, her magnum opus, she did that. She literally does everything on this album - and its all good! Seeing her live made the whole thing come together too.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 23, 2021 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 23, 2021 #1 MAGDALENA BAY - MERCURIAL WORLD OBVIOUSLY THE #1. AN INSTANT CLASSIC THAT'S WHOLLY UNIQUE AND BUILDS ITS OWN UNIQUE MUSICAL WORLD. A MUST LISTEN FOR POP FANS.
