thecptz Posted December 11, 2021 Author Posted December 11, 2021 ROUND 13 (celebrations) ENTRIES SPOTIFY PLAYLIST (stream TINASHE on YOUTUBE) Miley Cyrus - Party in the U.S.A. (4th of July) Spoiler (4th of july) It's a party in the usa Red Velvet - Automatic (Valentine's Day) Spoiler Valentine's Day My idea of a perfect Valentine's Day is an intimate, candle-lit dinner and a sensual night with someone who knows my body and loves me unconditionally. This instantly reminded me of my all-time fav Red Velvet song - "Automatic". Its nocturnal, silky tones perfectly set the tone for a night of romance and its confessional nature allows them to tell their lover everything that's on their mind. Also their harmonies here? Godly. "Warm velvet skin, lips with a soft light on them Eyes that are wet like rain, it’s all beautiful Your warm hands, your soft smile In your world, it’s all beautiful" English translation: https://lyricskpop.net/lyrics/red-velvet-automatic-english-translation/ Shakira - Empire (Wedding) Spoiler "Empire" is a song fit for a wedding celebration. It starts off slow as a piano led love ballad, but quickly explodes with emotion. It's a song about love, devotion, and - most importantly - unity. Between the beautiful lyrics and the soaring vocals and instrumentation, it's a fitting song to commemorate the union of two people beginning a brand new chapter of their lives with one another. Shania Twain - From This Moment On (Wedding) Spoiler Lyrically set at the moment two lovers take their vows, this song is the quintessential wedding anthem. Taylor Swift - 22 (Birthday) Spoiler The catchy chorus is perfect to sing along to when you’re celebrating your birthday with friends. The song might be bubblegum pop, but it’s also a guilty pleasure that you’d want to party to after surviving the troubles of being a 21 year old. “I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling twenty-two” is an iconic line that’s been part of a lot of people’s lives. Something about screaming that line when you reach that certain age feels liberating. Tinashe - Ecstasy (One Year Dating Anniversary) Spoiler Ecstasy is a sensual song that can be used for one year dating anniversary celebrations between two lovers. The song can also apply to Valentine's day but the intimacy between two partners is more specialized and personal during the one year anniversary day, which is why I chose the latter occasion for representation. As Tinashe lusciously sings "I'll be yours for the night, Tell me what you wanna do," she marks the day as a special event between her and her lover that they've both been waiting for. She returns the favor for all the good things he's done for her while in the relationship and the feeling of their celebration is like ecstasy. while you all wait for the judges, here are all the songs for you to have fun with it OR you can just critique these songs too judges will have 36 hours (10.30am ET on monday 13th) to judge your entries!! Dessy Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 Miley Cyrus - Party in the U.S.A. (4th of July) I was never too hooked on this song but it is good. However, I do enjoy the production, it’s very memorable. It’s undeniable she produced an Americana season classic tbh. Red Velvet - Automatic (Valentine's Day) They served yet again for me. A solid choice imo. Shakira - Empire (Wedding) Ah, battle of the wedding theme. This one was nice. That eruption of emotion at the beginning really captivates me for the entire song. A lovely choice. Shania Twain - From This Moment On (Wedding) Hmm, I think I prefer Shakira of these two if I were to pick just one for a wedding. That's not to say this is bad at all though. It's beautifully sung and I perfectly see it playing after the vows. Taylor Swift - 22 (Birthday) Now, why did I not expect this? Not everyone could take a random age and make it actually iconic and yet Taylor did just that here. Nice choice! Tinashe - Ecstasy (One Year Dating Anniversary) This is an orgasm in my ears! My lord! I also really like your outside-the-box thinking with this theme. Very smart and very strong choice for me. @boys @mokitsu @Opulent @Auburn @Rence @Tom Vercetti
Kavish Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 ⸸ Kavish ⛧ Kritiques ⸸ ~ @boys - Miley Cyrus – Party In The U.S.A. [4th of July] Obviously a great fit for the 4th of July, and "Party in the U.S.A." will also always come to mind whenever there is any type of celebration in the U.S.A. Miley her mind (It was written by Jessie J but we're going to pretend it's Miley). An essential party playlist song that guarantees a fun time with its catchy tune and sing-along lyrics. @mokitsu - Red Velvet – Automatic [Valentine's Day] I commend you for depicting a scenario that links "Automatic" to Valentine's Day. However, this can also happen at any time of the week, and for this occasion, I expected a song that is more romantic and pulls at my heartstrings instead of a sensual song. Theme aside, the song is really dreamy and sultry, with an engaging beat. @Opulent - Shakira – Empire [Wedding] "From This Moment On" is the wedding ceremony; "Empire" is the after-party. Even though it's not as lyrically on-the-nose as Shania's song, its unifying theme is a good fit for a wedding celebration. The grand and explosive sound also paints a picture of two forces colliding and becoming one. A euphoric and anthemic bang, the start of something new. @Auburn - Shania Twain – From This Moment On [Wedding] "From This Moment On" is the beginning and the end. The everything and in-between. Not a song, but the song. Of love, by love, for love. Born because of it, live by it, die for it. Those who have not known it, now know it. For this is a profession of love and a promise from above. From this moment, life has begun. From this moment, you are the one. @Rence - Taylor Swift – 22 [Birthday] A turning-22 anthem. It's not only celebratory through its jubilant sound, but "22" also captures the essense of being that age perfectly through its lyrics. Even if we ignore this specific age, it also works as a general birthday song with its notion of letting go, having a great time with your loved ones, and looking forward to the new age optimistically. @Tom Vercetti – Tinashe – Ecstasy [One Year Dating Anniversary] "Ecstasy" is not specifically about celebrations but I appreciate that you associated it with one. However, since a lot of Tinashe's songs have a similar theme to it and could have fitted in the same context, it doesn't feel that special. Theme aside, the song is pretty average compared to the ones that you've sent before, so I'm not too crazy about it. ~

Staryu Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 Miley Cyrus - Party in the U.S.A. (4th of July) It's a classic, it rises on itunes/spotify every 4th of July like a Mariah Christmas song, I've always loved the Britney shoutout, another American classic. Red Velvet - Automatic (Valentine's Day) It doesn't scream Valentine's day or any specific occasion but it is sensual and feels romantic, so obviously it works for the holiday. I like how smooth and sultry the song is. Shakira - Empire (Wedding) I feel like this song is fit for a wedding in an action movie or something it's very dramatic and explosive, and it's one of the better recent english Shakira songs to me at least. Shania Twain - From This Moment On (Wedding) This is definitely a classic wedding song to me, I've actually heard it at a wedding irl Shania sounds great on this song too, one of her best ballads. Taylor Swift - 22 (Birthday) I feel like ever since this song released, anyone (gay and/or female at least) that is turning 22 thinks of this song and the lyrics. The chorus is super catchy and why this song is ingrained in our heads as the 22 anthem. Tinashe - Ecstasy (One Year Dating Anniversary) I've never heard this before but I really liked it's vibe and the chorus I feel like you could have picked a more romantic/ballad type song and just went with Valentines Day but you took a more interesting approach, so I appreciate that.
Navyofbadgals Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 ~critiques~ Spoiler Miley Cyrus - great choice for this round.. because there's no way it doesn't fit for the theme lol. Her vocals in this are horrid but the nostalgia this gives helps a bit. Not my fav song here but a fine choice Red Velvet - I disagree with Kavish.. the vibes in this make this not just some random love song, but one for special nights only, like Valentine's day. It's also an incredible song, the sultry vibes are pulled off so well, and I love the elements of electro dispersed throughout this silky smooth masterpiece. Shakira - a great love song, the way she's describing this love makes it one that's a unique and deep love, but my god the chorus is mediocre. The verses build up to something way more beautiful so it's a bit anti-climatic. Shania Twain - a great choice for weddings, feel like this is so close to being corny.. but in the end it's actually just a really pretty song fortunately. Might be one of my fav Shania entries to date! Taylor Swift - obviously nails the theme, this has surprisingly aged pretty well. It's no showstopper, but it is a nice fun moment that doesn't really have any missteps Tinashe - creative approach but theme wise this is the only one that feels a bit off, it's obviously a love song but the choice feels a bit random. It is however a great song tho! @boys @mokitsu @Opulent @Auburn @Rence @Tom Vercetti
