why weird? its a disco funk recording which obviously falls under R&B, jus because it took off on pop radio doesn't change the fact

Thinking Of You

They’re still putting pop songs and pop artists in R&B categories because they’re black? :rip:

When did this start because that wasn’t even a thing in the 80s or 90s. They were put in the right categories.

it’s a pop song. do you think that if dua released the same song she would be nominated in the same category?

Once again where would you categorize a disco funk recording

if this was late 70's and early 80's as da sound serves, it would be an R&B record

Honestly I agree with you. It's closer to disco and R&B than it is to pop, the verses sound like what a lot of  R&B-pop lite songs sound like. What is the confusion?

I agree with you both.  It’s actually R&B (when you think about it from the classic/old school R&B standpoint), but it happens to be that this sound is big on Pop radio.

As a SN…Hell, if you listen to early New Edition songs now, it sounds VERY Pop.

tl:dr, Black people started all genres.  :coffee: Lol.  So yes, Pop nowadays is heavily R&B influenced and damn near is copying old school R&B to some degree.
