mike3009 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 YASSS @ Despacito I'd be here for TWIL returning to #1 as well though
ATRL Moderator Azulito Posted May 9, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted May 9, 2017 Despacito deserves it tbh. It's been rising ever since the remix came out

He's reaching the point of over saturation. He should wait until 2018 imo. I think he will. His tour runs until the end of September and I can't imagine him wanting to start a new era so quickly after
Lorenzo22 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Ugh good thing the Despacito madness is slowing down here in Mex. I can't hear that song once more.

But once they get much longer than that it's boring seeing the #1 spot. I do agree though that these 1 week #1's are very exciting!!
Bad Liar Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Selena ha power savior and repping female talent once again
jambloo Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 There's already five one week #1s this year alone out of 8 #1s. Could this be because of streaming?

He could have had 6! But still 5 in less than 2 years is almost unheard of. I think Katy and Rihanna were the last to do so. I believe Rihanna had 6 in less than two years with Rude Boy, Love The Way You Lie, Only Girl (In The World), What's My Name?, S&M, and We Found Love. And I know Katy had 6 in less than 2 years with California Gurls, Teenage Dream, Firework, E.T., Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.), and Part Of Me.
Jacob.23 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 SHAPE OF YOU (14 WEEKS) --> HUMBLE. --> TWIL --> I'M THE ONE --> DESPACITO --> MILEY This scenario would be crazy. 6 weeks and six different number one songs. Would that be a record? I don't think Miley can do it though.

There is only 4 as of now. Starboy, Humble, That's What I Like, and I'm The One. If you're referring to Black Beatles, that already had multiple weeks at #1 in 2015, it's not a 1 week #1. And if you're including Despacito it also hasn't hit #1 yet. Annnnd Humble, That's What I Like, I'm The One and soon to be Despacito could potentially get more weeks at top. Depends on what promo and increases are to come with each song. I wouldn't say that this is necessarily due to streaming. There were 6 1 week #1's in 2010 before streaming was a factor. I would just say it was perfect timing for each song these past few weeks, but all have the potential to climb back to the top in the coming weeks. Humble is probably the least likely to get another week though imo.

Also Shape Of You only had 12 weeks at #1. But I can't remember the last time that happened. I know I'm the 70's and 80's the turn over rate was much higher so I bet it happened back then before.
