Guero Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 (edited) Group B Anastacia - Left Outside Alone There wasn’t much to say about the song - it was just okay. Her vocal technique is the most interesting thing about this song. Is this a group or just one person? Who truly knows. Beabadoobee - Care This reminds me of early 2000’s pop rock. It was pretty smooth overall and I enjoyed her voice. I actually enjoyed this song. Ashlee Simpson - Pieces of Me Oh I completely forgot about this song and all of the mess surrounding her djdjdjd I never really cared for this song if I’m being honest. It’s not a bad song, but it’s not something I would go back to. Paramore - Still into You This song is really adorable in a way. I’ve always enjoyed myself when this came on, so I think it’s time to add it to my library. Soccer Mommy - circle the drain This was giving me Michelle Branch, but not as good or exciting. Not bad, but it didn’t really go anywhere for me. Halsey - You asked for this I don’t really listen to Halsey, so I’m not sure if she’s done this before but I was not expecting it to be this rock influenced. It got a little bit too repetitive for me, but I liked the instrumentals. I think the best part was the bridge for me. Slayyter - Over This! Okay the beginning to this was so aggressive djdjd but the rest was a fun little ride. This would have been better without the weird effects she does to her voice. Florence + The Machine - Mother I’m sorry but I just can’t get into her music for some reason. It’s a pity because I like her voice but there is a disconnect past that for me. Paramore - crushcrushcrush Oh god I just had flashbacks to some cringe memories djdjd I used to love this song and it still holds well today. Fall Out Boy - Uma Thurman Hilary Duff - Come Clean This is a classic. One of her bests. Donna Missal - How Does It Feel Not really much to say about this one. It was kind of forgettable. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll One of the few songs of theirs that I like but this one is really good. It’s a really fun song. Blondie - Call Me A true classic. I can appreciate the risk you took sending such an old track, but I think it paid off. Miley Cyrus - Gimme What I Want I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this, but I was pleasantly surprised. I can see why you forgot the letter G was banned. Good luck! Edited September 2, 2021 by Guero

Touch It Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 m y t h o u g h t s , group 2 <3 layout stolen from @Alena Anastacia - Left Outside Alone: not really a fan of this, her voice sounds really nice in some parts though Beabadoobee - Care: ahh I always use this song to introduce her to people, a very cute nostalgic sounding track Ashlee Simpson - Pieces Of Me: very nice classic I love it a lot <3 Paramore - Still Into You: I used to love this song a lot and I still enjoy it now :D (but f you for getting paramore banend before I got to use a song by them) Soccer Mommy - Circle The Drain: very nice and excellent song Halsey - You Asked For This: oh this is a bop, not my fav from the album but still love it Slayyyter - Over This!: did not expect this song to be this good whew I really liked it Florence+The Machine - Mother: this is very good, florence never dissappoints I fear Paramore - crushcrushcrush: amazing fun classic Fall Out Boy - Uma Thurman: no thank you Hilary Duff - Come Clean: this was alright Donna Missal - How Does It Feel: this was very very good Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll: I used to love a remix to this song a long time ago but ya this is a classic and it's very fun and good Blondie - Call Me: oh yeah another classic but idc for it much Miley Cyrus - Gimme What I Want: fun bop
Thanatos Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Anastacia ~ Left Outside Alone Queen Anastacia Unique voice, lovely song, the emotion. Europe stanned her so hard, we always support real raw talent hihi Beabadoobee - Care I do think that the chorus is lazy but the instrumental is to die for, wig Ashlee Simpson - Pieces Of Me This is giving me camp rock vibes, not a fan but it’s for sure a solid entry. I like the pre-chorus a lot. Paramore - Still Into You I’m not living for this but it’s a good song, good pick Soccer Mommy - Circle The Drain Not a fan of her voice, the instrumental is cute tho, very relaxing Halsey - You Asked For This Love Halsey, but I dont like this song at all Slayyyter - Over This! Wow this is very good, great entry! Florence+The Machine - Mother Yessss, I love her so much, great song, the chorus feels so big and the last minute of the song, wig snatched Paramore - crushcrushcrush This is okay, I prefer the other Paramore song Fall Out Boy - Uma Thurman Excellent entry, I was hoping to see more male entries with this category. You did that! Hilary Duff - Come Clean It’s a no for me Donna Missal - How Does It Feel Oh wow oh wow, I love this, the final 22 seconds Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll Excellent pick, congrats, one of my faves Blondie - Call Me A CLASSIC, would have loved to hear more old classics this round. Applause Spoiler RIP Chi Chi Miley Cyrus - Gimme What I Want This is okay, I think others will like this much more

smholiv Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Really good round btw, especially group B-sties GROUP A Spoiler Queen - Don’t Stop Me Now probably my least favourite band of all time Billie Eilish - Happier Than Ever In the context of this album, this is a stand out moment for sure, she nailed ittttt. I will say the second half kind of eclipses the first half for me. I get that the whole point is the contrast but I would’ve loved this more if it was just the second half Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero Yassss the electronic influences make this for me, you’re a ZERO!!! Big bop WILLOW - Lipstick While not as strong as transparent soul, this was a solid second single that grew on me a lot. Her vocal at times makes me scream but!! Its a fun song HAIM - The Wire Very easily the best song from their first album. Their delivery weeee, really cool vibe Lindsay Lohan - Rumours The strings fjjfjf this is so dramatic and campy. I’ll prob give it a decent rank for that reason alone but this isn’t something I would listen to again Miley Cyrus & Dua Lipa - Prisoner Definitely boppy. I like the 80s influence, but ehhh i’ve never LOVED it. I like Dua’s parts tho Sky Ferreira - I Will SUPER classic, possibly my winner or at least top 3. I love her attitude on this song so much Halsey - Honey This is such a cool song and one of the ones that immediately caught my attention when I heard this album. I’m probably way off but this reminds me a bit of like the 90s alt-rock girls? This is actually one of my top three from her album so yay! Fleetwood Mac - The Chain Ooh cool choice. I really like it though. The folk influences are particularly interesting to me. This will do well in my ranks Tina Turner - Proud Mary She has a lot of great rock classics but I guess this is one of her most familiar songs. I wish you chose something else because I do kind of like this but it’s not a favourite of mine Rina Sawayama - Alterlife Hmmm this is sort of interesting. It kind of has a messy feeling to it that I don’t really love honestly Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart This is quite Glee’d, but it has a few moments I like Stacie Orrico - Stuck I like the chorus, and its VERY early 2000s but idk we’ll see. I’m not enamored, I feel like there’s better songs from this era that should’ve been sent Katy Perry - If You Can Afford Me It’s too bad the title track couldn’t be sent. This is good though, she should go back to pop-rock instead of w/e Smile was GROUP B Spoiler Anastacia - Left Outside Alone Ehhh this is okay not really for me though, I don’t love her voice Beabadoobee - Care This is what I would’ve sent. So… you’re in a good place she’s amazing Ashlee Simpson - Pieces of Me A bit of a classic and maybe her best song oop Paramore - Still Into You I ADORE Paramore’s early music upto and including this album. This is such a classic and definitely feels like the apex of their career. Super solid will be high from me Soccer Mommy - Circle The Drain LKSDFJLSF AHHHH!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. This is like, my favourite song of all time. Deadly serious!!!!!!!!! The soft, sugary, warm, EUPHORIC melody + unique fairytale-like production combined with the slightly heart-breaking, vulnerable, raw and beautiful lyrics, which are somehow simultaneously simple yet complex and FULL of weight? When you look beyond the obvious, there is a hint of sadness and trauma in the references to her past here, and the fact that the central lyrics are framed in a double negative,,, as if she would normally be second guessing herself about the relationship but she is now NOT thinking of leaving, letting go etc.. overjoyed to finally feel secure and to have overcome the anxiety most of us know only too well from the earlier rocky stages of a relationship? This song kind of embodies the release of that anxiety and the comfort that brings. The way that the bridge BUILDS from the vocal layering in the second half is an extended moment of basically ecstasy, and like, these ad libs are why I stan Ariana... She sounds HEAVENLY. This song just hits so hard and I'm not even emotionally invested in a single soul on this planet rn, like this track kind of makes me excited to fall in love again and experience this journey???? OMG!! Halsey - You Asked for This Ooooh I love this too. I think this was my immediate favourite actually because I like the hazy guitars a lot. This is a competitive group weee Slayyyter - Over This! PLEASE this group is just sending all my favourite songs aren’t they? I live for how this feels right at home from a bratty teen coming of age movie right out of 2004. She nails that sound Florence + The Machine - Mother Well all good things must come to an end I suppose. Paramore - crushcrushcrush Huge classic, this is basically the perfect fit for this round. It’s a competitive round but know I really like this Fall Out Boy - Uma Thurman I’m not a fan of theirs, sorry. This is way too annoying Hilary Duff - Come Clean Very nostalgic song. The chorus is really fun and breezy. Possibly middling for me though. It might’ve been banned or something but So Yesterday >>> Donna Missal - How Does It Feel This was one of the few songs that was new to me, so yay for sending a risk. Pretty cool track tbh I might have to check this album out Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll Electronic pop rock classic. Very cool vibe, I love a halloween staple. Blondie - Call Me Cool song, competitive round. Will be in the middle Miley Cyrus - Gimme What I Want The production on this album was a big highlight for me. It eclipses the actual song because I’m not a huge fan of the way her vocals are edited here.
