QueenofCopyPaste Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 this makes me believe Adele is tactically releasing in October the earliest after the BTS fiasco that will continue in September
Cain Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Billboard becoming BTS' little minions is something I never expected If their new song in September goes #1 (which it will) they'll probably break some Beatles and MJ records for most #1s in shortest amount of time or whatever, honestly this whole thing is pretty entertaining cause Billboard's entire reputation is going down the drain
MonsterNavy Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 jimin says thanks for the record breaking achievement, army!

Not sure what you have against Harry sis, but I'll take a successful post album single (that was a promo single before that) not being high on streaming the week it hit #1, yet still being in the Global Top 50 20 months after it was released any day
QueenofCopyPaste Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Okay so yesterday I went on Omegle, set my location to United States and went to ask "what is the #1 song of the country? Butter or Good 4 U" ...all first 25 strangers that didnt skip me answered and sang to Good 4 U, meanwhile some strangers confused "Butter" as the "Build Me Up Buttercup" song Speaks volumes.

It was memed, parodied, streamed in the MILLIONS and was rightfully the biggest #1 hit of 2019. You trying to compare OTR to Butter is giving delusion. I'mma need you to sit this one out babe.

I know they were purchased with crowdsourced funds but my GOD that's truly ridiculous if my calculations are correct.

It doesn't matter. Or are you saying that cheating is OK if you're already successful? It still would not have broken Mimi's record if he didn't pull all types of shenanigans so he can't complained about being blocked. Anyway, still wish him a week at #1 with tIndustry Baby. Love the song even more than Call Me By Your Name.

BadX Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 even at this point, can anyone definitively say Butter is a bigger song than Drivers License or even good 4 u? at the end of the day, billboard is a magazine selling ads and clicks to survive

What alternative facts interpretation was I supposed to make? I'm not sure what you're not understanding, BTS are the first act to have a #1 that wasn't in the top 10, 15, 30 or 40 for the weeks they've been #1. No one said they're the first artist to be outside those milestones when hitting #1, but rather the only act/first act to collect all of those feats with Butter #1s have been outside the top 10, 15 etc before but we've never seen before where the same song has hit #1 multiple times while declining outside each of those milestones each time it's #1. This is the reason why Columbia is sure BB is not going to change the rules anytime soon Congrats for another week at the top
