I already knew we were getting AOTY as soon as that title track dropped but WOW.

Its so grand, dramatic and cinematic. The lush sweeping strings as well as the rich orchestral backing throughout just creates such a visceral feeling. The interludes really help guide you through the narrative of Simz internal monologue and reflection. This is AOTY and I don’t think it’s up for debate. :clap3:

The album is an AOTY contender.

How much fighting must we do? We've been fearless enough
All we seen is broken homes here and poverty
Corrupt government officials, lies, and atrocities
How they talking on what's threatening the economy?
Knocking down communities to re-up on properties
I'm directly affected, it does more than just bother me
Look beyond the surface, don't just see what you wanna see
My speech ain't involuntary
Projecting intentions straight from my lungs
I'm a Black woman and I'm a proud one
We walk in blind faith not knowing the outcome
But as long as we're unified, then we've already won

One of the most acclaimed albums of the year and only one page on atrl. Oh wow. I hate to see it.

She really motherfcking did that!

What a triumph of an album with so much accomplished variety and diversity and a great tracklist flow.

I'm particularly floored by the dance pop edge in "Protect My Energy", the dancehall and tribal vibes of "Point and Kill" and "Fear No Man", the solid and soulful rapping all throughout, specially on "I Love You, I Hate You", "Standing Ovation", "Little Q, Pt. 2" and "How Did You Get Here." I also loved "Gems - Interlude"
