i do actually, i've seen Doja stans and Dua stans do da same (i'm a hardcore stan of both ladies) which leads me to believe they not da only stan groups who do it

The fact is that BTS stans are out doing the pop girl stans at their own game, and ironically, something that THEY started.

That is what is killing them - they cannot stand it :)

Name another artist who has been able to have continued success on the hot 100 with just fanbase alone. Disproportionate of their streaming/radio stats

Why am I not surprised to see the same people crying over this :ahh:

No actually, you haven't seen them do that. You've seen them attempt other chart manipulation tactics, which have been shut down by Billboard - Dua's "Levitating" for example. You haven't seen a small group of stans of those artists from across the globe funnel money into Paypal accounts in the US to mass buy a song for 6+ weeks and manipulate people into thinking those songs are the biggest song in the country.

Its gonna be a little difficult for me to explain this because we in the west literally don't have fan-artist culture comparable to anything they have in Asia, but I will try t put it into laymen's terms. First of all, BTS is not selling the 150k copies to 150k people. BTS isn't even selling 150k copies to 50k people. The number taken from Dynamite's sales of 80 in a week revealed they were from 2.6k credit cards.

This kind of behavior rises out of years of conditioning. The fans aren't spending their money just because they like or respect BTS, its more... obligation and devotion. If you look at any reasoning from the fans for why they do the things they do, the phrase is always somewhere in the ballpark "to make the boys happy." BTS and other idol groups put out hundreds of hours of content that have nothing to do with the music itself, but to humanize the idols, to sympathize with them. I call this relationship parasocial because the biggest blows to an idol's career isn't a musical scandal. They get caught stealing ideas or putting out low-quality material all the time. No, its a personality scandal. Its a dating scandal. Anything that ruins the image of "I'm a nice guy and I'm not dating any girls so there's a 0,1% chance it could be you!" is deadly. I don't think I can truly put into words the amount of content that is used, every single week, even from a group that is already huge like BTS, to feed these delusions. This is the reason why korea had nearly 5 albums selling 1m pure sales last year versus the biggest music market in the world only having one to do so. It doesn't matter how talented or how much an average person likes music, it is just the completely deluded fans who will shell out their savings to buy it now that music is free.

Olivia, as both a female, and an American who is not involved in this kind of culture that would require this level of support, can simply not keep up, no matter how much actual interest from the general population. The sales are not american, they are from funds funneled in from deluded fans all over the world, the fan-culture is not american, which is why is has never been done here before. This is why there is such an outrage over this. If you asked the same question in Korea, they'd say "of course the fans are buying the songs, that's how it works right?" However this has never really been the case here in america.

This post sums this up :clap3:

Oh wow! :clap3: Seems like these people who are a bit obsessed with the group need to grow up, and make better decisions.

Billboard are very dedicated to removing fradulent purchases - hence those sales were removed from Dua and she was denied the number one. The BTS sales are cleary organic and legal, otherwize they would not be counted.

You can find any excuse to defend this, it doesn't change the fact that it's the result of a number of fans that is only a fraction of those total sales who found a loophole and created fundraisings in order to exploit it. And put it as it is, it's pretty sad!

Everything that gets to no 1 is because of " a number of fans". It just so happens that BTS have more dedicated fans than the pop girls. OOPS !!

We're talking about a few thousands of credit cards producing more than a hundred thousand sales here. Even you aren't taking what you're saying seriously! :dies:

Look some acts/ artists are strong in pure sales ie Adele, BTS, Taylor, Katy. Other artists rely on the free streams and playlisting, ie Olivia, Ariana, Rihanna. Pure sales are simply worth more. Which is why it takes 150 streams to equal one sale.

...but Adele and Katy never had international fundraisings with the aim of inflating their US receipts, their receipts are actually evenly distributed across most of the world. You simply can't compare. There's literal numeric proof of those pure sales being the result of mass purchases from a few thousand credit cards, there's nothing to act dumb about here. And the saddest thing is that beyond all those mighty sales, not many Americans are interested in Butter which lags outside of the top 200 on America's biggest streaming service, Apple Music :dies:

There is no real proof just a conspiracy theory. If there had been actual proof Billboard would have acted on it.

The jealousy and bitterness is not a good look.

Yeah, you think they'll act on something that brings them an unprecedented amount of clicks and social media interaction? I confide you aren't that naive

Of course they would, if one thing that Billboard has shown us over the years it is that they will in no way tolearate fraud. Hence all the rule changes..
