Claire Rosinkranz - Backyard Boy
review: This sounds like a mix of Billie and Olivia...it’s cute but kinda demo-y and not fully fleshed out :skull:

score: 5.9/10

Ariana Grande - Just Like Magic

RAYE - Love Of Your Life

review: this is pop perfection and the epitome of “optimistic” :clap3:

score: 10/10

Beyoncé - Schoolin’ Life

Been listening to the album lately and this song definitely lifts your mood and urges you to live your best life.

Britney Spears - Brave New Girl

Cannot go wrong with the concept of leaving and being somebody new.

Tinashe (ft. Buddy) – Pasadena

It's great that an ATRL user got to collaborate with Tinashe. Love the dreamy vibe.

Rina Sawayama - Love Me 4 Me

Reminiscent of the 2000s, and nice blend of genres there.

Posted

Foxes – Amazing

The song was a single and charted at #69 in Scotland. You broke the rules and therefore I will not be considering this for my Top 10.

MUNA - Pink Light

The pink light serves as a silver lining in this song, but the song mostly nods to the times when the light is not there and therefore is more bittersweet in nature.

Posted

Rae Morris - Do It

A rae of sunshine and also chill.

Posted

Ellie Goulding - New Heights

While the chorus and the bridge reach the new heights, the verses reminisce about the old lows. It is therefore a mix of both positive and negative compared to the songs that are mostly positive.

Grimes – Butterfly

Beautiful and summery, but while the lyrics convey a positive sentiment, it is not as eloquent as the other songs lyrically and comes off as a bit confusing.

Janelle Monáe (ft. Bigboi) – Tightrope

The song was a single and charted at #20 in Belgium and #61 in South Korea. You broke the rules and therefore I will not be considering this for my Top 10.

Måns Zelmerlöw - Live While We’re Alive

Its greatest asset is the lyrics, which fits the round.

Avril Lavigne – Contagious

While an energetic song, I cannot help but picture it being a toxic relationship. Avril is obsessed with a guy that may or may not be good for her, but she stays because it makes her "feel so high". What kind of "high school girl falls in love with stoner hottie" arc. Also not a fan of her trying to do things right for him and promising him everything. Girl, get your life together. Neither happiness nor a positive outcome can come out of this contagion.

Mabel - Let Them Know

Even though it oozes a positive attitude, the song sounds dated and the lyrics reads like an attempt to recreate 7 Rings.

Janet Jackson – LUV

The song is about how she got "wrecked" and has been saved by LUV.  While she was trying to paint a bright picture, I cannot fully take it as such when words like "crash", "paramedics", and "I'm a mess" keep hitting me like a truck throughout.

Ariana Grande - Be Alright

Yuh.

Zella Day - Dance For Love

Zella her voice is Hella cute and the song is very old-school and groovy. Me like.

Jessie Ware - Hot N Heavy

It's sonically right, but I'm Hot N Bothered with the subject matter. Most songs touch on the aspect of feeling uplifted, free, and happy, but this song is heavily focused on a physical/sexual aspect. I'm a-Ware that this can be liberating, but it's not what I was expecting this round.

Florence + The Machine - Light of Love

The message is positive but the content is too heavy for this round, sweetie.

Claire Rosinkranz - Backyard Boy

Good vibes and cute song. "Everything is perfect".

Ariana Grande - just like magic

Screaming at the lyrics but also relatable.
