i wanna know how much she sold with that last day gimmick, because she could have gone without it :rip:

The last minute remix, digitally signed album and discounts just gave an excuse for people to call her desperate. Swifties making excuses to make it seem less desperate. the drama that caused here I can't :ahh:

Considering how she was doing on iTunes and the Billboard breakdown, probably 10k on the last day or so.

Going from #74 to #1 only to drop back out of the top 40 next week.

This is reminding of that whole mess with folklore and how she would only release signed CDs in weeks she knew she had a chance to go back to #1 and the album would jump in and out of the top 10.

I remember there was a time she didn't to have do all this work to keep her albums stable but seeing as albums are the only thing she has going for her on the charts at this stage of her career, I'm not surprised she's going to such great lengths.

Congratulations to everyone in the top 10.

ddd when you put it like that, her releasing the full load in one week as opposed to doing something as ridiculous as this is better despite Olivia really deserving the spot on top. :priceless:

It's desperate af idk how anyone can say otherwise tbh. I just don't get why someone as big as Taylor had to resort to such cheap tactics this far into her career, like come on girl you don't need it. :rip:

Hmm, could this be because Taylor has 5-6 albums charting every single week (sometimes more), including 2-3 that were normally above evermore?  See that's what happens when you have a discography that sticks instead of people just quickly moving on from your past music to concentrate on your latest trendy one!

I feel like she could have spaced out the vinyl orders and that would have given evermore more weeks in the top 10 (probably as many weeks as folklore had) and would have made the album appear more stable. Instead, she got an extra week at #1 but evermore will be lucky to be in the top 50 next week. That makes it very obvious that no one is really consuming the album at this point.

I will never understand how Taylor is able to sign so many CDs (the ones outside fo the 100k vinyls).

for the sake of her hand, I want to convince myself that she’s lying, but... :deadbanana4:

the article says 21k came from digital downloads (up 5000%). not sure if that means those last days cds

It does include the whole digitally signed albums but the albums had a discount on iTunes (I guess all digital retailers). It’s been top 10 on all services the whole week so probably at least 6k came from them, which would leave about 15k (or even less) for the last minute website numbers :gaycat5:

It's not "cheap tactics", it's literally just marketing. Cheap tactics are things like ticket/merch bundles, but in this case everything sold were still 100% albums; whether she provided a slight incentive through the discount + digital signatures is besides the point, because the point is she was still just selling evermore.

The Weeknd did the exact same thing this year as well but im sure you had nothing to say about that, right?

Don't be mad Taylor actually has the power to snap her fingers and reach 200k pure sales 6 months in :lmao:

some girls actually have an entire discography charting on the bb200 all at once rather than whatever their most recent and trendy appeal to the youth is

And 202k in 25th week, more than some artists' brand new albums' first week sales.

How sad.

Folklore week 45 - #33

Is it really best idea to come for longevity of era like Folklore, which already spent 45 weeks in top50 (never left yet), charting on par with Lover which spent 92 weeks in top100?

Yes there was a time like that, when she released 4-5 singles for each era and didn’t abondon eras after first single or one performance. Maybe she will return to that when there is not global pandemic anymore. :coffee2:

Not the insecure fanbases in here dragging for "cheap tactics."
