she was (still is) smart & hardworking. also i think the fact that she never settled down to marry & kept herself busy with work might also be a factor. successful queen!

Kylie - The Debut Album

- Best-selling album of 1988 in The UK

- Reached number one in Australia and the United Kingdom, the first for any artist.

- Kylie went on to be the fifth highest-selling album of the decade—the highest by a female solo artist—in the UK

- The first album by a female solo artist to exceed sales of two million in The UK

- Minogue became the youngest artist to have a number-one album (at the time)

- Locomotion became the biggest song of the DECADE in Australia (HERE)

- I Should Be So Lucky topped the charts in the United Kingdom and Australia, the first time this had been achieved by any artist.

Official Top 40 best-selling songs of 1988 in The UK

More Kylie from the 80's:

- "Episode 523" [of the soap ''Neighbours''] was seen by two million viewers upon its broadcast in Australia, making it one of the highest rating soap opera episodes. When it aired in the United Kingdom, the episode attracted an audience of 19.6 million, making it the third most watched programme in the country that year.

See the wiki page dedicated to that episode HERE.

- Kylie became the first person to win four Logie Awards (Australian Emmy Award) in one year and was the youngest recipient of the "Gold Logie" as the country's "Most Popular Television Performer", with the result determined by public vote. HERE.

Her sophomore album ENJOY YOURSELF

- Sixth best selling album of the UK in 1989

- Had two number #1 hits: Hand On Your Heart and Tears On My Pillow in The UK. Three if we count Especially For You.

Especially For You

- In 2015 the song was voted by the British public as the nation's 20th favourite 1980s number one in a poll for ITV.

- In 2014 the song became one of only 154 singles in UK Official Charts History to reach 1 million sales

- The duet is also the bestselling Stock Aitken Waterman-penned single, selling more than one million copies to date as of December 2014

Kylie was (and still is) a MASSIVE phenomenon in The UK and Australia. Don't get it twisted, she was always well known and celebrated across the world (well maybe not The US after her debut) as well.

Anyway. Kylie was indeed flopping miserably in the 90's and even she thought her career had ended. She talks about that candidly. But she managed to bounce back and STILL breaking chart records after 30+ years in the business which IS the point of this thread.

Y'all have a nice day.
