They specifically said it would be, "...at the top of everyone's list," whatever that means. We can't wait to find out!

Hug Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VzraNKp9OkLvBTcN6KI3ydFI4J2tul5jSzjQmwLJ4jA/edit?usp=sharing I had everyone except for Astro done a couple days ago, but then I got distracted by Hades I won't even lie. I finally remembered to finish reviews, though. Sorry for the wait! @Dessy @Jackson @Aurora @8thPrince @Prisoner @Auburn @Astro Thanks for your unwavering patience x
Galah Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Thanks for the review Hug! Glad you liked the song and seemingly especially the chorus. I wanted that simplicity to come through without hopefully seeming too basic but I'm happy with the balance. If when I record/produce this after the season is over it'll definitely be a bop!

Dessy Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 I grew hair and started growing and working out from 120lbs to 180 to answer your question, Hug
smholiv Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 @Dessy @Jackson@Aurora @Astro @8thPrince @Prisoner @Auburn Spoiler My Favourite Twinks: You might've meant for this to be more comedic but idk I actually really liked some of the language you used : Like you used a lot of sensory aspects, a lot of colour, words like "glistening" etc, and it gave everything a bit more of a poetic feel than you might've thought. I liked the structure of this, I guess you mentioned it's sort of like The Sound of Music (or 7 Rings!) and that gives it a playful feel. Idk if this is like your best entry but I actually really enjoyed it. I know you like critiques that tell you what to work on :cannot: so I would say this might be a stronger concept if you focused on one... Twink. or like made it more personal and romantic? As it stands it has a very fun pop vibe to it, and structurally fits with that idea (come on Mr. Sivan "Bloom" tea). I like how you described things, and I feel like you struck a good balance between artsy descriptors and care-free fun. If you wanted this to be a genuine strong concept I would consider narrowing your focus more. Ode: Yassss this was very summery and had a great classic feel to it. I like the way you structured this entry. Some of your past ones were really strong and structurally tight, but for this one in particular things being so free makes a lot of sense and probably makes things resonate better than if it was just the same style. As usual your word choice is really strong, but I actually want to particularly applaud you this time because it didn't get too rich or dense, but it wasn't too casual either. I feel like you basically nailed the balance between the two. I actually got emotionally gripped by this entry thanks to your word choice, and I felt the carefree loving vibes strongly. I think this might be my favourite entry of yours from the season now! Into My Sea: Something about water imagery just comes so naturally and it makes for a really vivid backdrop. This was cute! Very pop friendly, and you had a really strong chorus that I enjoyed. I liked the bridge as well, it carried over the strength of the chorus but was distinct enough to warrant it's inclusion. A few notes were that the verses weren't quite as impactful to me. I felt like they ventured a bit too far into a territory where I wasn't getting anything unique out of them and they didn't benefit from catchy structure like other sections to make them feel as important. I also think a post-chorus and outro might not have been necessary, I would've chosen one or the other (in this case I liked the post-chorus a lot more!). JAWBREAKER: I love the tone of this song! I like that it was carried throughout the whole thing. That's actually been one of my favourite things about your entries - you know how to pick a tone or mood and carry it through so strongly that by the end of reading it I visibly get what you're portraying. This would definitely benefit from hearing how it sounds vs reading it. I like that you're able to convey moods really easily, but I needed a bit more substance to really grip onto this. Absentee Summer: I figured I could count on you to approach this theme in a unique way You brought a lot of attention to a seemingly "mundane" world and made it work with summer imagery. The narrative structure of this song is fascinating to read, and I really got thrilled when the protagonist lets go of inhibitions. It's a nice mood! I wasn't as enthralled overall as some of your other songs, but very very solid and cool take. My Way: This was also a different approach! I would've liked to see a bit more summer-ready thematics, although you did still manage to write a very hopeful style song. I could tell you were going for a very empowering approach and I think you did a great job of that. I don't know if I was extremely pulled in like I have been in the past, but I liked the imagery you used and thought it was very purposeful to convey your tone. River Rafting: This was incredibly cute. Something about this was just so bubbly and fun - it's probably your best example from this season of creating an atmosphere that was so vivid the reader could get the same emotional impact as the protagonist/narrator in the song. I would say chorus is possibly the strongest example of the songs this week of being an "anchor" point. Everything basically comes together with the chorus, it dictates the rest of the song, and takes the vibe to new levels. Good job!

If i had more time (if i didn't stall) i definitely would've went this route.
