Yasss!

but the accolade in the second tweet is a bit much. “First female artist with 3 albums released in the 2000’s”

The original Visual album :worship:

The era that made me an unconditional stan.

The album that helped me to be confident about myself :worship:

She gave the sassiness ,the looks, the fierceness ,the strengh....Freakum Dress alone :worship:

The visuals were amazing for EVERY damn song :worship:

I'm longing for this funky nervous Bee to make a return with the Mamas.

Truly her most underrated album ever and I'm so happy for this amazing feat. Like how many female albums from the 00s crossed 1B mark ? I'm sure you could count them in 1 hand.

They were considered massive underperformances.

I remember all the articles at that time, calling her flop, that Matthew said bday was bad with no hits and that it should be postponed. Deja Vu kind of left the charts quickly and then RTA flopped. She was in trouble. And then Irreplaceable came out of nowhere :D

Here is one example: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:gue-9tX5g3cJ:https://www.popsugar.com/celebrity/Beyonce-BDay-Delayed-23489+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=hr&client=safari

"Beyonce has been promoting her upcoming album all over London recently, but now her B-Day may be delayed. After the album received horrible reviews and fans created a petition criticizing her latest video, Matthew Knowles is desperate to fix the album. Now it appears that Mathew Knowles is desperate to stop Beyonce's star from falling any further.

The fact that she refused to postpone B'day and 4 release despite the underperformance/leak/controversy and today both albums outdo MANY albums from that time.

Time is the ultimate truth teller indeed. Congratulations Bey!

Chile! This isn't what happened. This all speculations and gossip from blogs, back then.  As a person, who witness and experienced that era firsthand. The anticipation for Bday was massive, she had just score a #1 single with "Check up on it", earlier in 2006, with a #1 box office hit movie(Pink Panther). However, this was also the era, when blogs became extremely popular, and some bloggers were posting anything without receipts. Also when the Beyoncé hate train started up again(with the dream girls era). Once Beyoncé revealed she did her album in 2weeks, the gossip mill and  negativity went into overdrive. With rumors of Matthew and Columbia records being unhappy with the album. All unfounded rumors. Of course Bday gets released, and slayed the competition with it's first week sales. Deja vu was a moderate hit(it did what it was suppose to do), peaking at #4 in the Billboard hot 100. Ring the alarm might not have been a hit, but it showed her eccentric and versatile musicality. By the time, irreplaceable was released, in late 2006, Bday was already approaching the 2m mark in album sales (domestically). Irreplaceable, simply gave the album much⁷⁷needed boast. Also Bday did score favorable reviews

They were expecting Bey to experience a sophomore slump, which she did have but it wasn't nearly as bad as they thought. Deja Vu went top 5 and that petition to get the video banned because of Jay was a joke.

I remember rumors and a somewhat confirmation that Matthew and Columbia weren't happy with her recording B'day in secret. Another tussle with them after they said DIL didn't have any hits.

Add in Letoya going Platinum with her album. More rehashed DC drama. The black gays had a field day with pitting them against each other. Then Dreamgirls happened towards the end of 2006 into 2007. It was an action packed era for sure. Bey was unstoppable.

Deserved. To think this was her first visual album and never got it's recognition.
