Much of the publishing world is said to be in the contest to ink bona fide phenom Olivia Rodrigo, with UMPG believed to have the inside track. Rodrigo is managed by Kristen Smith, who we hear goes way back with Uni pub boss Jody Gerson, and repped for legal by Kelly Vallon at Ziffren Brittenham. The young singer/songwriter and High School Musical star has 50% of her monster Geffen track “drivers license,” and insiders say she has 50-100% of several other strong compositions.

Sorry but what does this mean?

Publishing rights is basically the copyright to a recording. With them you can license music for use in film/advertising etc.

Pls elaborate, kinda curious about that.

ot: QUEEN

well he milked otr until it's last breathe and didn't capitalize on the success and put out a proper follow up until it was way too late, which did decently but it could've served another smash (obviously not otr's level, but it would've been huge), and the biggest mistake of all is that... we're almost 2 years after otr smashed and we don't have proper debut album yet!!

I think the main problem was the lack of quality.

I remember Panini having much hype and attention but it was TRASH to put it plainly.

And that excuse of a video was the final nail in the coffin.
