The following artists are the only artists in history to debut at #1 on the Hot 100 with their debut single:

1998: Lauryn Hill - Doo Wop (That Thing)

2003: Clay Aiken - This Is The Night

2004: Fantasia - I Believe

2005: Carrie Underwood - Inside Your Heaven

2006: Taylor Hicks - Do I Make You Proud

2016: Zayn - Pillowtalk

2021: Olivia Rodrigo - drivers license

Historic debut.

ZAYN & Lauryn Hill...

How about ZAYN?

I added both. I initially did not as they charted as part of a group but as it was their solo debuts, they were rightfully added.

 Didn’t Britney and Christina?

Not sure. Billboard does not list either single as having debuted at #1. They debuted and then went #1 eventually.

Doesn’t she have other music

Just from Bizaardvark and HSMTMTS.

None were released as singles, but the one song she wrote for HSM actually did pretty well because she's a really talented writer.

Definitely not that Olivia person

and Zayn was already an established singer before Pillowtalk, so that doesn't really count

"All I Want" is a soundtrack release, "Drivers License" is her debut single and regardless of whether Zayn was established or not, he still debuted at #1 with his solo debut. :skull: So it counts.

This shows how impressive Driver license is. I mean 4 of those songs are from AI right after they won and it was their winning song that got performed at the victory night. Zayn left 1 Direction and released the song. It was the first solo song from any member so it was not super impressive. So that left only Olivia and Lauryn... Whew... Only 2 songs in history to organically debut at #1.

it “counts” but it doesn’t really mean anything special since he was a part of huge boyband and his going solo made headlines.
