There is something so hypnotizing and lush about this song's production, as sparse as it is, that kept it on replay.mp3 since its release. The soundscape of this song is just so interesting to me! That PULSATING bass line  The way everything is SWADDLED in glitchy moody synthsMiss Parish's smooth as butter vocal performance  and a surprisingly welcome bckg vocal assist welcome assist from Ty Dolla $ign

This song makes me emotional sometimes just knowing what the lyrical content is referring to  The instrumental is so beautiful sounding too and I adore the colorful video. She can really do no wrong creatively in my eyes!

It's that choir of warbled zombified voices in the chorus for me! Easily the best deep cut off Pandemica. It's just so unequivocally GAGA in the best possible way. The lyrics offer enough insight into her personal traumas without coming off as too mawkish or self-pitying in any way and juxtapose so well against a really fun French-house disco beat. Wish more of the album followed this direction even though I still enjoyed it as a whole. Present Payola only WISHES it had a song like this!

You know when you hear a song for the very first time and tell yourself YEP! This will be a taste-making, chart-topping, cultural resetting SMASHA  Like you knew it was only a matter of time before it just blasted off and did its thing. 

 

I do have mixed feelings about the Tyson Trax drama so I'm trying my best in this case to separate art from artist. Besides, Doja's vocal performance in the studio recording plus ability to breathe new life into it in its multiple live iterations is what truly makes this song special. I'm sure if she rejected this beat, it would've gone to someone like Kim Petras who would've done absolutely nothing to elevate it lmao. Also a top 5 video of the year for me.
