Shawn is supposed to be A-list so it's not exactly good. It's not terrible though.

He’s not that A-list to begin with

and 100k is kinda the new standard for A-listers

I don’t use his music

it’s just let’s not act like A-listers are guaranteed to significantly sell more than that kind of number

Recent A-list pop boy debuts:

Jonas Brothers - Happiness Begins - 414K

The Weeknd - After Hours - 440K

Justin Bieber - Changes - 231K

Harry Styles - Fine Like - 431K

Post Malone - Hollywood's Bleeding - 489K

BTS - Be - 242K

A-listers are not guaranteed to sell more, you're right, because Shawn didn't. But he is on the low-end of sales for someone with his enormous of popularity.

And IDK how you can argue aside from this low debut that he's not extremely famous. He's 8th most monthly listeners on spotify, numerous 1B+ streamed songs, LOTS of media attention, and LOTS social media followers. Lots of promo and money went into the campagn for this album rollout. He is absolutely, undeniably one of the biggest celebrities right now so the sub-100K figure is definitely low for him no matter how you spin it.

Anybody considered remotely A-list should expect to be above 100K. Even AC/DC outsold him a few weeks ago and they're a band way past their peak. Luke Combs even did almost 200K a while back.

Someone sounds pressed

OT: Congrats Shawn, 95k is good :clap3: I really didn't except more with no tour bundles. He would have prolly matched Self titled if bundles were included i think

Jonas Bros had a tour bundles as im sure Harry, Justin, Post did too

They would have been way less without those

I'm literally not, I like Shawn :rip: I'm just being objective here and providing receipts for my argument as opposed to your only argument is me being pressed?

If you were to rank the #1 debut numbers this year 95K is in the lower percentile. It is not "good", but I wouldn't call it "horrible" since it is still a #1 debut.

Shawn's highest debut was 182k with bundles why would u expect him to do more when Wonder and Monster were not major hits?

I don't know Shawn's highest debut with 182k with bundles. I'm just saying that 98K is not very good for an A-list pop star. And it's not.

Ok ur right itd ****ing terrible omg he flopped so hard wow

Shawn's, like, 22. He shouldn't be declining already. This is bad.

I doubt he cares with his net worth of 50 m dollars :fan:

Well my argument isn't that he flopped hard. 98K is just enough for us to think that he has a fan base behind him, he might need better material the next time around.

He's in that age and popularity level where he can be really huge if he just puts out something that connects. This could be his Dangerous Woman era. :-* But 98K isn't the tea and he's capable of way more than that with his level of celebrity.

Oh well.

He could retire right now and be set for life. Wish I could retire at 22 and have millions lol

Then why is he releasing music?

I don't understand why you mention money when the topic is his music career

He doesn't want to retire at 22. He wants to leave a musical legacy like all the artists in his position.

Anyways, all I was trying to say is that 100K is NOT the average debut for a popular artist. It's not even the average for a #1 debut in 2020 (it's more around Ariana's debut, ~180K) and Shawn just needs to release something better next time. It's not being pressed, it's making a factual observation and no amount of tangential deflections from you is going to change that.

Personally, I thought Wonder was really good and his best LP yet but that's not the topic.  He's  still young though so he can recover or become irrelevant like many before him.

You should update yourself like everyone else did with the fact that there’s a rule change lately discounting bundles
