I obviously discovered her, because she wrote Eclipse, Sweet Crazy Love, Automatic and more classics, but her solo songs are flawless and her vocals are so enjoyable. I'm also SO happy SM did this with her, cause it's an another amazing song Wish she was more popular so we would get more frequent content, but she is yet to release a bad song. Your song choices from respective albums are absolutely amazing too, I have to stan... I wanted to mention that Charli's voice reminds me of LIZ, but you have her too whew Mickey is such a throwback pop banger, I would love LIZ to fully go in this direction, definitely my favorite song from PlanetY2K along with Electricity. AHH yes another Charli Taft fan. Really what exists of her discography is incredibly good and you already listened her songwriting receipts...what is there NOT to like. Love Like You unironically one of the best things to come from Station, if not the best. It's SO good and it's also how I got into Charli! Also, now that you mention it, Charli and LIZ do have similarities. I really liked LIZ's older R&B sound she had before she went to pop, but I also like her early '00s pop sound, so either way I like LIZ's music. but a LIZ and Charli R&B collab would be god tier. (Electricity is one of my faves too, I would've added that if not Lost U 2 The Boys )

Also love her mashup remix of 2 On by Tinashe! Absolutely agree, their voices would blend so well too and they both shine the best on similar throwback pop-rnb!

K$Ellie Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 I don't remember the Monsta X song but I listened to it once so it must have been one of the fillers the western songs were a bit of a 1-2-3-4 punch, especially Tove and Kylie Go Hard very trashy I think Kinky by far the best song on High Road Cry About It Later and Love Me Land are pretty good as well stan Mickey a bit Woowa promo too, they need it
TheWayWeWere Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Kinky should've been a single tbh it's so catchy Love Me Land her best droplet, and that VIDEO
Lazuli Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 miss a thing and gimme what i want are the best songs on each album the go hard praise the wrabel drag he really did ruin kinky
Psycho Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Go Hard is cute but not one of my faves Father Daughter Dance is so emotional Love Me Land

No Wonho No memories! The way I kinda realized my Western songs are mostly songs ATRL would know this year I'm shook. Go Hard is very classy you could play it at a wedding and nobody would bat an eye. My Trophy Cabinet actually just being the place where I promo flops. Kind of a concept actually! 9 hours ago, TheWayWeWere said: Kinky should've been a single tbh it's so catchy Love Me Land her best droplet, and that VIDEO In my deluded stan mind, I do think Kinky could've done something as a single. Love Me Land for sure one of Zara's best songs in a while! 6 hours ago, Lazuli said: miss a thing and gimme what i want are the best songs on each album the go hard praise the wrabel drag he really did ruin kinky Ahh well then I guess you'll be...disappointed? a bit later because other songs from both albums are charting higher. ? Someone else who uses Go Hard? ? we love a BANGER. A lot of the worst moments on High Road are because of Wrabel can he leave (though the WORST moment was all Kesha [@Potato Song]) 3 hours ago, Psycho said: Go Hard is cute but not one of my faves Father Daughter Dance is so emotional Love Me Land I feel like most people don't go off for Go Hard like that but it caught me instantly. The way I actually teared up listening to FDD when I was doing my update yesterday. Kesha queen of heartstrings. Thanks for the support everybody! ♥ My K-Pop update for the day is coming up in a few, then ofc Western comes a bit later in the day.
Hug Posted December 6, 2020 Author Posted December 6, 2020 Spoiler https://youtu.be/pHJtfHu8Amo https://open.spotify.com/track/2FUmLfw3dxUDf00HxKh4GP I'm kinda still reeling from the fact that she's so panned. I get she's kinda a flop but even her videos look expensive and I thought people went crazy over shit like that. Anyway I love AleXa. Spoiler https://youtu.be/NcyWpUbwYcQ https://open.spotify.com/track/2YAp8NkSgU785zQrfb3Oyf SPECTRUM were such a pleasant discovery for me this year. As a bit of a spoiler, this isn't their last appearance on my Best Of. This song hit me a bit later than the song that's appearing later on, but I just feel the emotion in this. It's really pretty, especially in the chorus. I think they're severely underrated. :( Spoiler https://youtu.be/6m21ItedeG8 https://open.spotify.com/track/3xQAIDsIoqiWfVHjJkJxE2 I genuinely have nothing for this. It's boy group music take it or leave it. Spoiler https://youtu.be/kwy0nR1_SBQ https://open.spotify.com/track/1WrScpykT891CZhFThXJtj This song gets me emotional and idk why. It's not a particularly sad-sounding song and it's not saying anything profound, it just resonates with me. When they lost the summer when they lost each other...yeah I felt that. Spoiler https://youtu.be/_7KFoF2_ffY https://open.spotify.com/track/4rXZrKBGVRh98LnKxbda91 I guess if you haven't heard this song already, it's very DIFFERENT to what you'd expect a typical YG group (especially BG) to sound like, so that should tell you if it's worth looking into on that alone. It's a really cute synthy pop song, probably the ~cutest~ BG song on m,y whole Best Of, which is a bit weird coming from a YG group, but w/e! Trophy Cabinet coming soon...!

Hug Posted December 6, 2020 Author Posted December 6, 2020 Not sure where else I'm going to put this, so I'll just shove it here. Today's Trophy Cabinet goes to SUMIN (not to be confused with Sunmi). She is...a very well-rounded musician (sings, writes, plays multiple instruments, produces, even does vocal production like a certain ATRL fave!) and a lot of her music is on the quirky side, if that's something you're into. Personally I find it hit-or-miss, but the hits HIT. She doesn't only have quirky music, however, as some of her songs are genuinely pleasant and easy to listen to. Two of my favorite songs of hers are Brown (A city pop song which would've been Top 5-10 if I didn't exclude it for not being from 2020) and Your Home (a more quirky song which maybe wouldn't have charted but was excluded anyway.)

ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 6, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 6, 2020 sumin is a really interesting artist. didn't know she released anything this year, but i liked one of her projects last year.

Just listened to Brown and it's really good, does she have more of tracks in this vibe? mokitsu Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 i liked TXT's mini, but we lost the summer wasn't my fave. i loved the opener song and the title track let me check out SUMIN
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted December 6, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 6, 2020 Bikini **** is great I usually don't like Tove Lo that much but she served with that song Also I'm dying that every time you have Alexa in your countdown you have to shade her somehow

Hug Posted December 6, 2020 Author Posted December 6, 2020 Spoiler https://youtu.be/ESlaR6hectY https://open.spotify.com/track/4mjDUywu5NREDKNPTaRdLE This song...don't have much to say. It's a very solid pop song, but I can't say I have much idea what a Nova Miller is even after this song. she has a good voice? I guess she also makes solid pop songs. That's it. Spoiler https://youtu.be/kSK-wfF8QeM https://open.spotify.com/track/5iKXqTVr88ghRPwMEeVKVM This chorus is so good what the fuck. I get the eye crust line is kinda gross but...pop is not the genre of great lyricists lets not kid ourselves...just one of the handful of fun songs on this album that I really think would be more loved if Katy weren't a flop and Republican sympathizer. Spoiler https://youtu.be/fJmMoTB5C_Y https://open.spotify.com/track/3UK2G7CRI6aYnJyI0Aedl7 The strings in the bridge are what took this from being serviceable to great to me. Really gives me an ABBA vibe as I mentioned above. I'm not saying it's AS GOOD as ABBA, but it's what I'm reminded of. Spoiler https://youtu.be/tcYodQoapMg https://open.spotify.com/track/35mvY5S1H3J2QZyna3TFe0 Hot take: This is her second best lead single after Dangerous Woman, but positions is her second worst album after sweetener. "Worst" might be harsh since it's just a very...7/10 album to me. Anyway, I remember being really happy the first time I heard this song and definitely was the best choice for lead! Spoiler https://youtu.be/pE49WK-oNjU https://open.spotify.com/track/4HBZA5flZLE435QTztThqH Did I piss anyone off with this? I hope yes! I'm just really desperate for Justin to sing a song where he isn't crying about how he was bullied when he was 15 or whatever. YOU'VE BEEN DOING THIS SHTICK FOR HOW LONG NOW? HANG IT UP. Anyway, this reminds me of Moonlight from Dangerous Woman (not as good as Moonlight, obviously, but...!) it's sickly sweet and usually, that's not for me, but it worked this time. Damn you, Scooter. ...and the Trophy Cabinet is up next!
smholiv Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Ariana gorgeous songs I don't know #19 or #18 thankfully
Hug Posted December 6, 2020 Author Posted December 6, 2020 I'm gonna be real with you guys...I don't have these planned ahead of time. I think of them right after I update my list. I was mostly not invested in Western music this year (note the playlist size difference) So coming up with these is a bit hard...that said, I've seen Magdalena Bay in a few Best Of lists, and I don't have them in mine, despite listening to some of their music this year...so they can take this Trophy Cabinet. Two songs of theirs I liked are Killshot and U Wanna Dance?, so...there's those!
mokitsu Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 summer love is soooooooo good honestly revisiting stuck with u it's actually... great? i love it.
