SLIME Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Wow history. From the years when there were none, to the way it's gotten competitive >>> Say what you want about Nicki (there's lots you can say), but you can't say she didn't fight hard to pave her way. btw Missy Elliott is the queen

Rev8 Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 I thought Eve or Foxy would've taken some of these years

99sandthe2000s Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 The evolution of female rap glad to see it! So many excellent female MCs on the list! Kim, Lauryn, Missy, Nicki, Cardi, and Megan
Jimmy. Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Nicki and Missy both with 6 years People love to say Nicki didn’t bring the female rapper back to the mainstream
brainmaniac Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Where is Lizzo though? Her 2019 seemed bigger than Cardi’s
The7thStranger Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 The way Missy easily dominates this list like it was no big deal.

Yep, her sucess is tremendously impressive and she deserves nothing but respect, definetely Queen of Rap, and for good, 'cause her talent ugh.

xfreshkidxx Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Missy was stomping on Kim but people like to act like Kim was the top rap chick.

DaBrat only ranked higher (at #1) because her single, “Whatchu’ Like”, performed better on both the R&B charts and Hot 100. The Notorious KIM” was also the best selling Female rap album of 2000, whereas DaBrat’s album flopped.

Ironically, her songs performed better on the Pop charts. Trina and Eve also had moderate hits but lacked longevity. Missy Elliot, for the most part, was on hiatus.
Stepfon Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Cardi coming back to take over the crown next year.

No one else would be credited for the 2010s female rap revival

She was the first Female Rapper to score a top ten hit with “Buffalo Stance” in 1989 which peaked at #3 on the Hot 100. She scored another top ten hit in 1989 with “Kisses On The Wind” also. • “Left Eye” should have 1995.
