Wow history. From the years when there were none, to the way it's gotten competitive >>>

Say what you want about Nicki (there's lots you can say), but you can't say she didn't fight hard to pave her way.

btw Missy Elliott is the queen

i'm guessing this is why Nicki is so impactful cuz she really brought female rap into the mainstream for good.

I thought Eve or Foxy would've taken some of these years

Lil Mama got a couple of top 10 hits in 2007/2008 but I guess they didn't have longevity.

Nicki and Missy both with 6 years :clap3:

People love to say Nicki didn’t bring the female rapper back to the mainstream :bibliahh:

Where is Lizzo though? Her 2019 seemed bigger than Cardi’s

Missy!!!!

The way Missy easily dominates this list like it was no big deal.

Yep, her sucess is tremendously impressive and she deserves nothing but respect, definetely Queen of Rap, and for good, 'cause her talent ugh. :clap3:

The Notorious Kim was probably her peak in terms of sales and celebrity and she still got outcharted by Dabrat :deadbanana2:

Lil’ Kim was the #2 Female Rapper of 2000 on the YEC.

DaBrat only ranked higher (at #1) because her single, “Whatchu’ Like”, performed better on both the R&B charts and Hot 100.

The Notorious KIM” was also the best selling Female rap album of 2000, whereas DaBrat’s album flopped.

Lil’ Mama scores three top tens during this time but failed to make the R&B/Hip-Hop YEC. Ironically, her songs performed better on the Pop charts.

Trina and Eve also had moderate hits but lacked longevity.

Missy Elliot, for the most part, was on hiatus.

Cardi coming back to take over the crown next year.

tbh

1991 Salt n pepa

1992 Queen latifah

1995 belongs to Da brat first female solo album to go platinum and multiple hits

1996 is likely between Queen Pen for the grammy winning #1 hit ft on Blackstreet's no diggity or  Da brat

2006 is Missy elliott or remy ma

2007 might be between Lil kim/Missy elliott because she had a huge and her last hip hop hit with Keyshia cole's let it go and lil mama  she had lip gloss came out in 2007  and she had another hit with chris brown

2008 has to be M.I.A.

2009 M.I.A. swagga like us charted 3 places higher on the year end chart than Lil kim's download

The problem here is Lauryn hill dominated 1999 Eve's debut and Missy dominated 2001-2 Eve's 2nd and 3rd eras.

Ironically enough I believe 2006 either belongs to Missy or Remy so Missy might have 7 yearsl

It's possible lil mama's hits in 2007-8 and MIA's hits through 2007-2009 were thought of but even with those two acts they had a few hit singles it was Nicki that  helped revived it for the 2010s decade. No one else would be credited for the 2010s female rap revival:cupid:

• Neneh Cherry should be #1 in 1988 and 1989.

She was the first Female Rapper to score a top ten hit with “Buffalo Stance” in 1989 which peaked at #3 on the Hot 100.

She scored another top ten hit in 1989 with “Kisses On The Wind” also.

• “Left Eye” should have 1995. :giraffe:
