KasioKas Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Work it is such a classic. Let me go bop again to this HIT!
GreatestLoveofAll Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 Ok, not me letting this flop you giys have been so kind in actually making commentary yet im too lazy to even update a mess Anyways here is batch four! I'm a huge fan of some of these songs and a few are by some artists I never thought I'd ever care to listen to on my own time. 17. Starman- David Bowie I discovered this UK classic by this UK legend while watching The Crown season three I believe so the irony is all over this one. I was captivated by the strange sound, the imperfect vocals and was beyond shook when I realized it was by David Bowie. I knew he was a legend and pioneer in music but I was never into that kind of music and so I never gave him a listen. But this song is so alien, so mystical but at the same time real fun when you listen to it. The whole child-like focus on the track makes it peculiar, but then again, it’s David. I shouldn't have expected anything less. Rest in peace, icon. Spoiler https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBKEt3MhNMM 18. It's My House- Diana Ross Miss Ross the Boss has numerous songs on this list, but this slick, funky 70s banger takes the cake as the best innuendos i’ve heard probably ever in a song this old. Reminds me a lot of 1993 Janet Jackson. She is such a legend this woman. Spoiler 19. Layla (Acoustic; MTV Unplugged 1992)- Eric Clapton I don't think any of you really listen to this kind of music and the ones that do probably aren't checking here, but this song is a classic tune. Its pretty simple and the topic about a straight man simping for a woman that belonged to another man (who has relations with someone who will be on this list btw) isn't anything i can relate too, this guitar-driven, steady voiced acoustic version is brilliant and super catchy to me- far better than the original and so very different too. Weirdly or maybe not, I first discovered it on the way to school from my bus driver’s playlist. Spoiler 20. How Long Will I Love You- Ellie Goulding I heard this song on a random playlist and the one complaint I have is that it feels so short. The laid back singing, the sweet chorus and the sentimentality really made it one of my fave Ellie songs. “How long will I love you? As long as stars are above you” makes me emotional every time. Spoiler https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=an4ySOlsUMY 21. Hellfire (from Hunchback of Notre Dame) I was going through some of the Disney villain songs one day when this song came on. I hadn't seen the movie in years and even then it was only like a small portion yet hearing the dark, twisted and complicated lyrics and meaning wrapped it all up for me, at least plot wise. It surprises me so much that Disney let a song like this in one of their movies considering the content and I'm not the only one because I saw a video analyzing the song and character Frollo and the person said that what makes this song the creepiest yet greatest Disney villain song ever was that Frollo wasnt some wizard or witch or supernatural being. He is a human doing all this and that’s horrifying. Spoiler 22. Lucky- Britney Spears Earlier this year I watched a fan-made documentary on Britney. It covered her controversy and fame in the 2000s and compared how she was treated and talked about and simply done so terribly to other fallen female starlets, all who at some point died from that insane, inhuman pressure and for the first time, I really felt so sad for Britney and all she’s gone through. They played this song during the documentary and it really hits at the end how much it reflected her life and career whether she knew it or not when she recorded it. I truly think it's a really heartfelt song even if it has a pretty standard Britney pop sound. Spoiler

Mr. Loco Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 How long will I love you is perfect! Ellie's voice sounds just so beautiful in that song Lucky is also one of Britney's undervalued songs, I really like it!
BlackoutZone Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Lucky is one of these nostalgic universally loved Britney songs, it feels bigger than it was
TheWayWeWere Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Lucky is such a pop classic, MV alone >>> It's My House Diana in her prime
Sunderland 4ever Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 (edited) Wow, so many cool memories with Lucky. That was one of the many videos I remember recording on a VHS tape back when MTV was the ultimate source of music. Edited December 13, 2020 by Sunderland 4ever
Bubble Tea Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Aww Britney Spears "Lucky"! It really has turned out to be such a bittersweet song cause god knows her life has turned out some kind of way.
GreatestLoveofAll Posted December 14, 2020 Author Posted December 14, 2020 Hey hey! Thanks again for the love. Just realized this is the second week of December and so I'm going to have work coming in like crazy. Do I care? Maybe, maybe not the point is it's hopefully gonna make my updates more regular and what not! So here's batch five and thank you guys for the support. Batch Five 23. Back for Good- Take That I don't care for 90s white boy bands. They tend to get on my nerves- especially the hair and the clothes, which to me were absolutely ridiculous. Yet I love this song, maybe because of its maturity and familiarity to other songs from this era. Its been called a pop masterpiece in recent years and I have to abide by such a claim. Spoiler 24. Back Together- Jill Scott This is very much old-school soul/R&B and i'm almost ashamed it took me this long to discover this masterpiece. What can I say? I felt so much gospel and soul in this vocal performance, she could have been cussing someone out and I’d love it. I'm hoping she has fans on this site somewhere cause this is amazing. Spoiler 25. Love Child- Glee Cast/Unique/Alex Newell I rewatched Glee for the second time last year and heard many songs I didn't catch for the first time. Last year one of my top tracks was the “Bitch Is Back/Dress You Up” mashup featuring the amazing Unique played by Alex Newell. I loved everything that went into that song and this cover of The Supremes late 60s social conscious classic is no different. Alex rips through this song with a ferocity as if it was his own and his gown in the scene? Dazzling. Also, check out his new single “Mama Told Me”- it’s a banger with vocals for those who are into that. Spoiler 26. Imagine- John Lennon This song was so very last minute- I legit heard it a week before I put it down because my teacher was talking about John on the anniversary of his death. I still think The Beatles both as a group and individually are overrated to the heavens, but this song deserves all the love and respect it gets. The way it resounds some near 50 years is really what makes it timeless and magical. Spoiler 27. You'll Never Be Alone- Anastacia Once again, I should let you guys know I love big voices and a good song about love, friendship and resilience. It’s the formula of the biggest hit songs for some of our favorite divas so haters of that can go take several seats . Anastacia starts off mellow and ends up belting with some serious soul and confidence, yet the strength and personality of her voice is constant. Spoiler 28. I Am Woman- Helen Reddy It’s weird: I’ve been seeing this song everyone for a bit now but the year i get into it is the year we lose Ms. Reddy. This feminist anthem remains the boldest and best declaration of the women’s equal rights movement from now and forever. 29. Moondust- Jaymes Young I met this guy this year (on social media ofc) and as we became friends, he introduced me to a few songs and this was one of them. I love the lyrics talking about letting go and the instrumentation is so captivating and alien-like. Spoiler 30. Teen Idle- Marina A bop! 2016 me wouldn't be caught listening to a song but I’m glad my taste has evolved and grown over the years because Marina is such a fantastic artist. I have yet to listen to The Family Jewels and FROOT fully yet so maybe my 2021 list will have more of her songs. Spoiler 31. Love Me Still- Chaka Khan A moving, simple ballad by one of the most captivating voices of R&B. I remember being stalled completely when I heard this and I hope if you listen to it you will understand the sweet and soft feeling I’m talking about. Spoiler
