Sunderland 4ever Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 It's never a good a idea to visit your YECD on an empty stomach. Let me go grab something sweet.
Remmy Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Smile High Road (song) is fine, a little messy but she's got the spirit. forever Love Me Wrong yesss "Another album I’ve seen too much slander for in these rates, Cape God is what we call ART hunnies" Right... I swear there's always at least one album I'm obsessed with that I think ATRL enjoys, then I'll get to this section and realize that's not really the case
BlackoutZone Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Ahh Man's World Not a fan of Ice Cream, it's really annoying to me tbh Forever grew on me
TheWayWeWere Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Man's World Making into top 10 YAS I'll pretend I didn't heard Ice Cream
Psycho Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Love Me Wrong was cute and a tad overhated High Road Smile, Man's World, Ice Cream cute enough Forever whew finally some excellence!
Mr. Loco Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Wait... Ice cream is about ***? Is a bop tho
Mezik Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Ice Cream will never be the same when I listen...
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 9, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 9, 2020 i REMEMBER the stans first reaction to HIFN. i was quite shocked because i was very pleased after charli kinda underwhelmed me. but im glad it grew on a lot of people. forever, to me, is mid tier, but i think the reasons you pointed out, the message which also was enforced by the video made it special to a lot of people. ice cream is one of my fave blackpink songs. i just simply dont connect with their "badass" songs with "drops." so this was soooo refreshing for me.
KasioKas Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Cyber sex is a bop On 12/7/2020 at 10:02 PM, Reinvention said: 11. Smile - Katy Perry Drag me or whatever - but I kinda love this song. It’s cute and the video is super fun and I love how hard Katy went with promo despite being heavily pregnant and with a lockdown - it says a lot about her (or potentially her binding contract lol) but she cares about the music she puts out and she cares about her fans, giving them cute covers, acoustic versions and videos even if they’re a bit meh at times - it’s better than nothing. I think “Smile” is a really cleverly written song, I love the line “now I’ve got a smile like Lionel Richie” which, even though we all know is a cringe plug for American Idol, is also a great line cause anyone that knows Lionel knows his smile is legendary. In short, we stan this Katy era - it was fun. Not her best - but who in 2020 was at their best tbh. This song is not good, but enjoy yourself sis.
Hug Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 AHH I went back a bit and saw Resentment and High Road (song) and you're RIGHT they're both highlights on this album that has more done on it than deserved. Any list with Kesha praise is a GREAT list so I guess that means yours is DOUBLE great. Yup yup absolutely.

And yeah everyone on gAyTRL does too much on Allie X. They want her to make vapid pop and she refuses to and they fume. 13 hours ago, BlackoutZone said: Ahh Man's World Not a fan of Ice Cream, it's really annoying to me tbh Forever grew on me "Ice Cream" is obviously super annoying but a million times on shuffle forced me to love it. 12 hours ago, TheWayWeWere said: Man's World Making into top 10 YAS I'll pretend I didn't heard Ice Cream It probably didn't deserve top 10 lmao but I just love it right now. Charli XCX stans are honestly so messy I don't think there's ever any sort of "collective" opinion except that we're mad XCX World was scrapped. I don't really even know BLACKPINK so Selena's impact for forcing me to listen to them. (and Gaga too - though "Sour Candy" is annoying as hell) 4 hours ago, KasioKas said: Cyber sex is a bop This song is not good, but enjoy yourself sis. Poor "Smile." 3 hours ago, Hug said: AHH I went back a bit and saw Resentment and High Road (song) and you're RIGHT they're both highlights on this album that has more done on it than deserved. Any list with Kesha praise is a GREAT list so I guess that means yours is DOUBLE great. Yup yup absolutely. Couldn't agree more! High Road had some great highlights and yes some trash filler, but Kesha is still kind of finding her way free from her strict contracts. (though I know she's technically still under contract, clearly Dr R**e is not forcing her to use his sounds etc.) Doja and Kim stealing them. 7. Rare - Selena Gomez I love how simple this song is because I think that’s what makes it so catchy - a cute little hook and the way she pitches her voice when she sings raaaAAAARREE. I like the lyrics to “burning toast in my toaster” - it reminds me of Shakira’s GOD-tier lyric “I’m starting to feel just a little abused like a coffee machine in an office.” I get the song is about being genuine, being one of a kind, being special and deserving to be treated as such. I’m not exactly one dwelling on how amazing I am and how lucky everyone is to have me in their lives BUT it is nice to step back and think about what positives we bring to a room and what our talents are. It’s a positive song and it’s uplifting - and I have done more than my fair share of self-loathing over the years so sometimes it’s just nice to listen to a song and feel good for a few minutes. “I don’t have it all, I’m not claiming to, but I know that I’m special.” 6. Rain on Me - Lady Gaga feat. Ariana Grande Not gonna lie after the 1-2-3 boring punch of Joanne > C2C > ASIB (like I loved the ASIB soundtrack, but it didn’t really fill the void of a new smash Godga album) I didn’t have high hopes for Chromatica but then the first looks came out and then the album title and woo lordT was I SNATCHED. I’m always a little skeptical of collabs cause I feel like they’re 50/50 in terms of being good and making both artists succeed, cause a lot of collabs are reductive flops that weren’t necessary or tacky add-ons like Bieber hopping on Billie Eilish’s “bad guy.” No one needed that. I think “Rain on Me” is an example of a song making both artists lift themselves up. Gaga forced Ari to finally do some REAL choreo which I don’t think I’ve seen her do before, though I’ve seen her do some Femme Fatale Tour-esque arm choreo but ROM vid choreo - phew. Queen snapped. Gaga is obviously a legend and I love how committed she was to this song and video. Initially (and I think this goes for a lot of us) her super deep voice when she says “Rain. On. Me.” was a bit but now I like it, and it’s a nice juxtaposition against Ari’s typical airy head-voice vocals. We have to stan. 5. Say So - Doja Cat I have to confess - until I listened to this song reluctantly one day after the song had been #1 for a while and I was like “oh ffs what is this mess” I had been actively avoiding it. I just get sick of Nicki sometimes and I didn’t know who or what this cat thing was, so I was pleasantly surprised that this was a pop, melodic, catchy and cute little glittery gay smash! BUT there’s a reason there’s no (feat. Nicki) here because I’m not so much a fan of that version as I am Doja’s solo original version. Nicki did what she had to do to get this song into the limelight and obvi to snatch her own, first #1 but we ALL know Doja (and regrettably Dr. R**e) did the heavy lifting to get this song to its peak status. It’s catchy, it’s fun, black excellence etc.
Psycho Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Rare is a cute avant indie pop moment ROM cute moment for the girls for the summer Say So great but I overplayed it
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 10, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 10, 2020 girl... only rain on me is somewhat decent i guess
Lazuli Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 i was SO disappointed with ice cream but i still bopped... forever such a perfect song rare girl could do better rain on me and say so, such gay bops
Mezik Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 This 3/3 batch is perfect. RoM was a MOMENT. Pop greatness. Rare was a cute song, and I do enjoy Say So.
Ewan Chaos Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Girl I love Electra Heart but it's like a 3.5/5 whereas FROOT's 5/5 and TFJ is like 4.5/5. Different tastes is all! Yeah you snapped on your write-up for ROM. Gaga is just such a weirdly earnest (like... in an embarrassing way but I love her for it) kinda girl so any forced collabs would clearly not work for her, and it shows in the fact that ROM is a great song.
dreamofyou Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 rare was cute and say so a bop ROM kinda aged
Macchi Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 (edited) Rare, Rain on me and Say so Spoiler Not you using the great British bake off image for your say so banner Edited December 10, 2020 by Macchi x
