Haha I really shouldn't apologise but I always get dragged for my "lack of taste" and it's like sorry for having ONE outlet in my life I want to be happy.

10. Man's World
- Marina

 

Woohoo - the top 10! I might regret putting this here in the future as I get progressively bored of the song - but I’ve been starved of good Marina for a long time given that Love + Fear was boring as sin. “Man’s World” was an excellent return to Froot-form and we loved to see it. She’s sharp, she’s witty, she’s naming names, her lyrics are sexy, she’s serving looks in the video, she’s not being a dull flop with boring sounds - we love it. I’ve always had a strained relationship with Marina cause truthfully her best work was concept album Electra Heart where she played a disillusioned Hollywood starlet with depression and a messy love life and we STANNED hard. But since that one album she’s never really revisited the sound or the iconic looks and, although I love The Family Jewels and Froot it’s like a different artist and all I really want is Electra Heart back. 

 

9. Ice Cream
- BLACKPINK feat. Selena Gomez

 

If I’m gonna be truly honest this song is f*cking annoying - but it’s sooo catchy that I couldn’t help but listen to it a million times. I actually HATE the Korean rap towards the end of the song but ugh, Selegend ha vocals are just so good in this song that I stanned. She really does have a super cute voice and I think it excels here. “Ice cream chilling chilling, ice cream chilling” like it’s ludicrous and half the song is about cum but… what can a gay do but stan. I wish I had smarter things to say about this song but I don’t. The video is also sexy and playful and all the BLACKPINK members are serving as well as Selena in tight little dresses.

I’m gonna be straight up - when I first got my hands on how I’m feeling now I was a bit like… sis what’s this noisy ass mess. HOWEVER the album turned out to be an extreme grower to me to the extent it would easily be my album of the year, if that’s what this rate was all about. It’s corny to say but I find this song very touching! It has really lovely lyrics like “Hope when we’re old we’ll be friends, reminisce. Wanna be there us two, all the memories, all the photos we took.” It strikes me at the age of 28 cause I’m ageing out of my “youth” and I know these years will eventually be what I look back on as my golden years or whatever, though it is hard to imagine this is as good as life gets but alas. The song has funky sounds - though tbh the “I will always love you, I’ll love you forever” chorus is a bit cringe lol. Nonetheless we stan.
