Bubble Tea Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 The Sticky & Sweet Top 25 The best 25 songs of 2020 2018 | 2017 | 2016 | 2015 After a year off in 2019, welcome back everyone to my 5th (almost) annual Sticky & Sweet countdown of the year's best tracks. First things first I'm huge fan of EDM, bubblegum pop, hyperpop and dance pop tracks. I will be ranking my top 25 songs that were released in 2020 and you will note, as usual, that I usually stan the songs that the rest of a fanbase generally doesn't care much for. Sit tight - we'll be starting, as Gaga would say, "soon"!
potent Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 I really don't know what could be here, Rain on Me I guess? Checking for it though

Ewan Chaos Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 The Marina pick BETTER be Man's World over About Love (hell everyone forgot about About Love, of course it'll be Man's World)
K$Ellie Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 I'd be perched for Kim but her music this year...
Mezik Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 I'm really anticipating this one. Excited to see the bops you share.
Bubble Tea Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 25. Back to Me - Lindsay Lohan I’m not claiming this song changed the world or anything - but teenage-me was a HUGE fan of Lindsay’s second ICONIC album A Little More Personal (RAW) and I would be dishonouring myself forever if I said I hadn’t been loooong checking to see when/if she’d ever make a musical comeback. I definitely don’t “stan” her any more but I always hope she’ll eventually come back and be successful and beloved once again. (Same with Mischa Barton - come through queens). Anyway “Back To Me” is a CUTE bop and I got my life to it at the gym a few times and whilst strutting down the road so like… what more can you want. 24. Let's Be Friends - Carly Rae Jepsen I really felt this song when it came out cause I’d just been on a date that I thought went very well only to get hit with a “You’re lovely but I’m not really ready for a relationship, I think we should just be friends” shtick and I wasn’t even mad it was just like oh ffs not this again. Anyway Carly nicely surmised my thoughts in this song, like why do we need to do this charade we’re not gonna be “friends” after one date. As always, Carly delivered a fun, uptempo song to relieve ourselves of silly gays with commitment issues. 23. Tonight - Kesha I was HYPED when this song came out! I’ll admit this was a grower but boy did it grow. I absolutely love how this song builds and builds - from the gentle piano intro to the hollering choruses - it’s a ride, just like the song, it’s like going on a big night out from the beginning alone in your room getting ready to getting tipsy at the pre-drinks to absolutely letting loose as a mother f*cking GOOSE in the club. Parts of the song are like giggling drunkenly in the bathroom with your friends too. It’s a ride! It’s the Kesha we know and love and better than ever tbh.
Mezik Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 An interesting start, but I agree - Lindsay's two first albums were actually filled with bops.
taemin Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 that Carly Rae song was actually good - I hate the fact that it went under the radar
mokitsu Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 i forgot about back to me but i actually loved it despite being lowkey terrible nn lemme bump it again
ATRL Moderator Verge of Obscene Posted December 3, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 3, 2020 Not Back to Me!
Blue Rose Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 I remember playing CRJ’s album but none of the songs stuck with me. Still love her tho
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 3, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 3, 2020 Let’s be friends is underrated. It’s a new sound for Carly. She CAN pull of bratty pop! i would have picked Xanax for Lindsay. It’s a camp song
Psycho Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Back To Me was a cute bop for a day or two Let's Be Friends was cute for like a week thought I can't believe it came out in 2020. It feels ancient Tonight was a bop tbh but didn't make my list

They were! She was an undeniable pop star - shame we never really got any live performances or even a cute little mall tour or whatever. 10 hours ago, diogozsz said: that Carly Rae song was actually good - I hate the fact that it went under the radar It did go totally under the radar but like, I wouldn't really expect it to chart. It's CUTE but like.... not a hit. 10 hours ago, mokitsu said: i forgot about back to me but i actually loved it despite being lowkey terrible nn lemme bump it again Lmao it's obviously kind of bad but that's half the charm - sometimes you don't need a perfect vocal / perfectly produced song, you need a rough and ready BOP. 8 hours ago, Verge of Obscene said: Not Back to Me! You simply loved to see it, let's leave it at that. 7 hours ago, Blue Rose said: I remember playing CRJ’s album but none of the songs stuck with me. Still love her tho Nnn it wasn't even on the album. Not you doing Dedicated (presumably) like that though. Multiple smashes. 3 hours ago, Delta said: I love Tonight even though it was a flop Nnn everything Kesha does now issa flop but that doesn't mean she's not serving eyeconic bawps to keep the gays grinding. 3 hours ago, Madame X said: Let’s be friends is underrated. I thought only a dodgy recorded clip was available. Let me get hunting. 1 hour ago, Psycho said: Back To Me was a cute bop for a day or two Let's Be Friends was cute for like a week thought I can't believe it came out in 2020. Super Duper Party People - Allie X I can imagine some people would listen to this and be like “what tryhard nonsense” and in some ways it is but then the beat also SLAPS and the sing-talking is catchy and Allie’s voice is so sexy. The lyrics are kinda bizarre and the chorus is pretty weird but for some reason it all just comes together to make a hell of a banger really. “Marsha’s in the bathroom breathing in the bath fumes, something you and I have both done” is what we call a LYRIC ladies and gays. 21. Vulnerable - Selena Gomez The second I heard the first line of this song I knew I was going to love it - and I was right. It’s really about how we put ourselves out on the line in love and people can and frequently do take advantage of that. Although that sounds more nefarious than it really is, we do it all the time too - people like us and we don’t like them back and we “politely” let them down in subtle ways but it’s always agony to like someone and for them not to let you back. Anyway Selena’s song is about NOT letting herself become hardened and miserable from this experience - but more just musing on how it all goes. “If I hand you my emotions would you even want to take it, if I gave you all my truths then would you fumble it and break it.” 20. Comme Des Garçons - Rina Sawayama I had only really heard Rina’s song “Cherry” before this but then I saw everyone making an absolute SCENE about her album SAWAYAMA that dropped this year and honestly… thank god they did or I wouldn’t have checked for it. She really dropped some anthems on there. Not only is this song a SMASHA but it’s also got attitude, sex and iconic lyrics such as “Don’t fuck with me ho, take you down like judo” like we HAVVVEEE to stan. We simply have to!
Mezik Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Allie X is a gem, love her music. Vulnerable was a good track, definitely in the upper tiers of Selena's songs.
Blue Rose Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Comme Des Garcons is my favorite Rina song. A flawless pop anthem
Rotunda Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Tonight is a BIG BOP, and Vulnerable is definitely Top 3 on Rare
K$Ellie Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Not you choosing some of my least faves from these albums, especially Kesha, Allie and Rina but Commes was a grower Vulnerable was one of the better songs on Rare from what I remember Let's Be Friends, when Summer Love was right there
