mokitsu Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 anyway i wanted to start this with a 2019 recap of my favorite albums (since i forgot my favorite songs) the alt girls kept us FED last year with three timeless, legendary albums that still hold up and probably will for years to come. titanic rising was my #1 for most of the year, but as my mental health sank, my love for angel only grew and she swiftly took that #1. aside from that, ari lennox gave us a great, cohesive neo soul / r&b debut album (MASSIVELY underrated), tinashe came back after the disaster that was joyride with an album that mixed her pop sensibilities with her mixtape sound we all love, creating an immaculate record that undoubtedly sits at the top 3 in her discography and summer walker (who i just got into this year and couldn't fit the picture) also gave us a classic r&b album. the record breaking debut album from billie was met with polarizing reviews from critics and music fans but i have to say i loved it. there are some misses (xanny is unlistenable) but the atmosphere and storytelling in this album is great, and the production - both the hard hitting one and the more subdued, atmospheric kind - is immaculate. if there's one album that transports you to another world, it's this.
