I agree with Positions, a bit disappointing for sure... Loving seeing SAWAYAMA on the first set though.

SAWAYAMA supremacy!!

Khrangbin's album was cute! I only revisit Time and kinda prefer their EP with Leon Bridges.

Hayley too low! Rina kinda too low too. Bad Bunny, Mac, Lil Uzi Vert, and Yves are other great picks!

Thanks.

Might disagree with Manic being an attempt at being trendy :keir: I quite liked The Slow Rush too :keir:

I would totally be disappointed with the #1 and #3 if I had any expectations going in nnnn, awful albums

Petals kinda sucked too  Sawayama far too low :chick3: the Yves album was nice I think, his previous album was better tho

Petals slander *not on my watch*

Some of these albums seem low, but then again I also see them as overrated and nowhere near as flawless as many make them to be :keir:

My list always serves the true tea. Also remember this when I update next :fan:

Petals was a cute album :clap3:

Thank you sis

CALM, Petals for Armor, Sawayama :jonny5: Also a nice remember that I still have not listened to the Yves album.

Yves album has some gems. Don’t sleep on it.

Hayley's album is great, always nice to see her recognized for her quality. :clap3:

As well, didn't know 5SOS released a new album.. :skull: gonna have to go check it out. :duca:

Love Hayley

31? I'm gonna pretend I do not see...

At least it made the list though, I thought you hate it after our Jacob Collier convo :fan:

Love La vita nuova, bu it wish we got a full length album of these gems.

I only know Future Nostalgia and it's too low :fish2:

lol Ive loved Dula since Be The One. But I can still drag her :fan:

I wasnt going to include EPs but ended up including 3 EPs to get to 50 and some EPs have been better than many albums this year.

Future Nostalgia :jonny5:

Posted (edited)

Cool. I know many albums from this set. Here are the ones I heard but didn't have replay value:

40, 39, 37 (I was hyped at first but then I was somewhat dissapointed), 35

However, we coincide with #31. It is my favorite album from this bunch. Future Nostalgia was the opposite of RTJ; that is, high expectations were met!

Dua Lipa and Christine are too low!

the way I totally forgot about Angel's release, oh well it's just an acoustic album

RTJ4 was a pretty good album :jamming: FN a little low and Xtine was nice enough for an EP I think

Posted (edited)

I tried listening a couple songs by Bad Bunny, but I could tell it wasn't for me

Petals for Armor was cute, had a few memorable songs

Christine & the Queens :clap3:

Future Nostalgia had some bops :jamming:

FN is def too low it deserves better but than again its the only 1 I heard. Idk what the rest of these albums are.

RTJ, Xtine (nnn) and Dua are my favorites from here. Would have been happy to see them higher, actually!

Posted

Run the Jewels & Dua's albums were both fantastic! RTJ4 definitely deserved some nominations at the Grammys - it's a shame they're always snubbed when they serve such quality. :shakeno:

Hmm I'll be back to hopefully see something I like.

I understand having high expectations for RTJ. I thibk RTJ2 is still their best

I wasn’t expecting to love Sorry’s album but I did and it is aging very well. I just played it yesterday

Good In Bed & Boys Will Be Boys stopped Dua from getting a top20 / top10 placement

I think Whole New Mess production suits her best. Besides Lark, All Mirrors had zero replay value :giraffe:

not with Boys Will Be Boys. That atrocity

Future Nostalgia could’ve been higher if it wasnt for the last 2 songs :fan:

30. LP5 by John Moreland (Folk)

His melodies are so beautiful and melancholic. I also loved the little bit of Country influence on certain songs. I love Country but in very small doses.

29. Every Bad by Porridge Radio (Indie Rock)

Catchy, Anthemic and Lesbian. What else can you ask for?

28. A Written Testimony by Jay Electronica (HipHop)

This album just keeps getting better after every listen and the production is stunning.

27. Otherliine by Otherliine, George FitzGerald & Lil Silva (Pop, Dance)

I loved this project. Fun and light.

26. You Know I’m Not Going Anywhere by The Districts (Alternative)

Love this vibe, the production is amazing and Dancer is a tune that Ive been obsessed with all year long.

25. B4 I Breakdown by Ojerime (R&B)

Easily one of the most promising R&B artists out there. Her style is very unique, reminiscent of the amazing 90s R&B with a modern, almost Rock edge. The whole album is very impressive.

24. Before EP + loosies by James Blake (Glitch Pop)

The EP of the year imo. Not only that, everything he has released this year has been absolutely outstanding. James has the midas touch.

23. Roisin Machine by Roisin Murphy (Disco, Pop)

The sexiest Disco tinged album of the year. It also has more of an Electronic flair than her sisters, which is an added bonus for me.

22. After Hours by The Weeknd (Pop, R&B)

The album seems to have 2 personalities, an 80s influenced Pop side and a dark and cinematic R&B side. Miraculously they worked pretty well together.

21. Motherhood by No Joy (Shoegaze, Dream Pop)

The songs are very easy to get lost into despite their chaotic energy at times. Layers!

a written testimony and the james blake ep :clap3:

i saw many people getting disappointed w/ jay electronica. i can't say i followed him for years like a lot of fans so i didn't know what to expect but i really liked it.

before was a great follow up to assume form (which i loved), many new sounds that he explored successfully :date4:

RTJ4 being in the lower end of the list :weeps: RTJ3 remains unbothered but 4 is amazing.

Excited for top 10 :celestial4:

afters hours is decent - FN being low is a choice
