21.  chloe x halle - ungodly hour

genre: pop rnb

for fans of: their first album

chloe x halle used to be weird art pop kids, though, honestly, most of their artsier experiments fell flat aside from a few ones.  when they went rnb, it was the right decision, but yet the poppiest track on the album remains my favorite.  it helps that they got more expensive production, but call & response hook is amazing, and it just is very ethereal and magical something they haven't managed to do successfully before.

I've never listened to their older material... I never thought it would be experimental and arty, I'll have to check it out. I really liked Ungodly Hour :WAP:

Siren and Tasty are the standouts on the EP for me.

The Weeknd's is the only one I care about on that list, so far so good :gaycat1:

i love both, surprised ppl are that big on tasty, i know quite a few that hated it.

Can't wait for the worst of the worst section and for you to drag some deserved girlies and also some of my faves xo

HMs I recognize (the fact that like 3 of these were literally in my 11 - 15 section nfdhiudkhfid)

yves tumor - heaven to a tortured mind, So good but figured you didn't stan this as much as the Noid album
weeknd - after hours, Glad you liked the album!
keiyaa - forever ya girl, Tried to get into this, couldn't sadly
yaeji - what we drew, Yeah this is good but I'm excited for a SLAY of an album
bree runway - 2000and4eva, Recent listen, also good
sufjan stevens - the ascension, Fair, underrated album
jonsi - shiver, Sucks outside of Robyn collab, glad to see it miss the mark
sam sparro - boombox eternal, GAY KING SLAYED THIS
lianne la havas - s/t, HA BEST ALBUM
taylor swift - folklore, It's what she deserves
disclosure - energy, Good album!
tennis - swimmer, Can't believe I used to hate these hoes, glad you liked this album too!
dorian electra - my agenda, Yeah it's no Flamboyant but it's good!
soccer mommy - color theory, I only liked the title track nnn
seth bogart - men on the verge of nothing, Thought we'd see this in the main album list! Def not as good as self-titled tho so I'm not mad about it
miley cyrus - plastic hearts, Yeah a cute album but not top 50 material nnn
genevieve artadi - dizzy strange summer, Cute album, was hoping for more after Louis's self-titled/all Knower albums
georgia - seeking thrills, Cute album for the beginning of the year
carly rae jepsen - dedicated side b, Yeah it's okay, not mad at it missing the mark

I KNOW i just saw! will comment soon.  glad tennis grew on both of us :clap3: and for seth, hm, he kinda just didn't stick on my mind so i didnt listen t alot.  i actually thought the jonsi album did not suck!  but yeah that was obviously the big standout.

50.  porridge radio - every bad

genre: post punk

for fans of: sleater kinney

standouts: sweet, dont ask me twice

post punk with a pulse and a heart, this is the first time i've heard of these ladies but im glad they were a discovery. t heir music is timeless and just an all around joy discovering them.  only low on my list becuase of limited exposure, thats my bad.

49.  buscabulla - regresa

genre: chillwave

for fans of: neon indian, the tdrought is real.

standouts: el aprieto, nte

i have been a fan of them since their ep a few years ago and im glad they came back with an album thats basically in the same style.  its consistent and enjoyable :) theres really no bad track and the album flows well.

48.  la roux - supervision

genre: synth pop

for fans of: trouble in paradise.

standouts: guillible fool, 21st century

this is basically the less dynamic, more static version of their 2014 album.  i dont mean that in a mean way, its not as emotional or sad and has more fun moments.  i mean there are def sad moments but tip kinda had a lot of emo moments.

47.  empress of - im your empress of

genre: synth pop

for fans of: her first album

standouts: love is the drug, bit of rain

yeah, empress of came back big with this era and im glad she did.  she gave us bouncy house bops and personal moments filled with pain and joy but we were dancing for most of the album.  the songs are sharper and fully formed, and i think she's more adept at fast paced quirky songs than she is at slower "chill" songs.  she's learned her strength.

46.  no joy - motherhood

genre: dream pop

for fans of: perfume genius?

standouts: four, primal curse

this is just an all around great shoegaze/dream pop album with lots of noisiness and catchiness going on.  listen to it if you want something fast paced and engaging but still dream pop.

45.  dreamcatcher - dystopia

genre: kpop

for fans of: versatile kpop groups

standouts: jazz bar, scream

yeah, its been said before, but this album really served extreme versatility.  pseudo metal, jazz, funk, power pop, dance, its all on here.  dreamcatcher still manage to shine through all of the changes with their signature powerful and dramatic choruses.

44.  i break horses - warnings

genre: dream pop

for fans of: lana del rey

standouts: turn, death engine

yeah, this album is so underrated.  its sorta like lana del rey + beach house?? i know thats such a trivial comparison but if you like both i have a hard time seeing you not like this.  its got a lot of rhythms that are a little intricate sorta but still got that sad girl dreamy vibe to it.  the long songs, (shocker) are actually the best!!

43.  bbymutha - muthaland

genre: southern hip hop

for fans of: tumblrcore

standouts: nice guy, bbymutha this bbymutha that

this album did not disappoint.  it came way too late but ill still take it.  bbymutha has a really nice flow and i really like her couldn't give a **** attitude.  she talks about all sorts of stuff here.  romance, twitter drama, politics, etc.  i think it makes a great introduction to an underrated and prolific artist.

42.  riki - riki

genre: darkwave

for fans of: siouxsie, i mean come on just look at the album cover

standouts: napoleon, monumental

i mean this is basically just darkwave/synth pop throwback to the early 80s.  if you like that stuff youll like this.  its not derivative but it doesn't reinvent the wheel, it just gives you that kinda sound for those of us craving new artists.

41.  the strokes - the new abnormal

genre: indie rock

for fans of: waiting a long ass time for another good album

standouts: at the door, brooklyn bridge to chorus

finally.  its a strokes album.  and its good.  hello, lets celebrate that!

Yes yes yes Buscabulla. Gah Neon Indian haven't thought about that bitch in a while. Need a new album (or I guess I can just listen to Neon Vega for the 10000th time). Haven't heard Buscabulla before their album but I love their background as Puerto Ricans and your top 2 are my top 2 as well. Porridge Radio cute! Lesbians, we love to see it.

La Roux and Empress Of back to back YUP. Also I keep seeing La Roux referred to as "they" from other lists but isn't it just Elly now? nnn The Strokes album was good too but I didn't really get as into it as I would have liked. I see myself liking it more as time goes on.

Saw I Break Horses on someone else's list and they're on my "to check out" section. I'll see if any other hoes I don't know here I'll check out

Did La Roux have an album? :chick2:

Supervision getting some acclaim again :jonny: I adored this album

Posted

Abel snubbed :weeps: but hey a hm is better than nothing

Empress of brought the bops, glad to see in her in the top 50 :clap3:

Posted

You really decided to snub all these albums just to put Supervision... interesting

Posted

love to see XS in the top 20 :clap3: Little Nokia, JU$T, Roisin and Aly & AJ cute as well  Cool is nice but not one of my faves

kinda hate visions, anthems did it better :keir: Don't Stop so high  amazing production, wish it had a better hook maybe :keir:

Ladies is like my least fave on FTBC nnnn I prefer Freak and Slime but Siren is a nice choice for #1 as well :clap3:

folklore was ROBBED but everything else is fine  Yves, Twice, Bree, Weeknd, Yaeji, Miley, City Girls and Carly ranged from ok to cute mostly :lakitu:

ahhhh Jazz Bar one of your standouts on Dreamcatcher's album :WAP: I Break Horses yup yup, stunning album :clap3:  Empress is cute too

Alright. Sounds like something I can dig. I'll be checking out this one.

And a huge YES to The Strokes being mentioned. They really delivered the goods this time. :worship2:

Porridge Radio was alright. Buscabulla looks interesting. Overall, a nice mix of albums that I either liked or I would like to listen to. :cupid:

At the Door and Brooklyn Bridge are great choices :clap3: they definitely had better songs than Bad Decisions in there even though I understand why it was the single

Im ok with everything that was dumped except for Sufjan.

surprised Sufjan didn’t make yoir list. The electronic production seems like something you wouldve enjoyed based on your songs and albums lists
