Do you consider the Folklore era an organic success ?

  1. 1. Do you consider the Folklore era an organic success ? Or are its chart peaks and troughs clearly showing artificial boosts by repeated stan activity ?

    • Yes - highly organic
    • No - fuelled by stans buying multiple copies.

Consider the following:

16 different versions on sale over two different formats on release week

Massive second week drop.

Physicals coming later

Signed copies dropped off to record shops.

Signed copies made available on website during key weeks.

Two vinyls released during key weeks.

Yet another vinyl released.

Signed copies of the single, Cardigan released.

A second version with a video released during key week.

Discounted single.

When the album has to stand alone, without any "fan - fuelled boost " it drops down the charts then yo yos back up the weeks these fan extras are available.

Is this the sign of an artificially boosted chart run and not an organic success ? Discuss.

You seem pressed and seem to keep an eye on what Taylor does. We love a secret stan.

I am not dragging her numbers.. On the contrary I am seeking to see what people think of those numbers and if they are organic or not.

Fans buying multiple copies is not something new, so yeah, highly ORGANIC.

:jonny6:

Look @ monsters, they bought thousands of BTW copies, .99 each to boost her sales. Taylor's are full price.

Her numbers are organic too. 8 weeks at #1 is definitely not majority fan driven like you’re claiming :rip:

Multiple ATRL faves with albums released months before have yet to surpass its first week SPS so I am inclined to say yes

Yes. ATRL's definition of organic is no announcement, no singles, no promotion, no clever marketing tactics, no radio hits, and no discounts. Unless you manage to find an artist who is successful like that, Folklore remains an organic success.

2.6K buying 80K copies of a $1.29 single is different than 40K+ people buying 50K+ signed albums at twice the normal price.

how does she get a pass when so many people dragged her for that lol

OT: Inorganic, the album sales are completely fan driven. No one outside of her fanbase is interested in her new album. However, she keeps making money and selling more than most people. No one can have inorganic success like her

The overall success is organic, I mean the debut number itself shows how huge the hype is

The 1mil pure sales is kinda inorganic ino

But anyway, some faves here shoved 3 songs at once, spammed on multiple popular playlists on Spotify, while Taylor barely pushed song from folklore properly on popular playlist

If someone say their faves success is organic with those efforts, then Taylor's 1mil pure sales may be considered organic too
