Is “Folklore” success what “Lemonade” & “ST” aspired to be?

Folklore tried to do what "Beyonce" did initially with a surprise release

The fact "Beyonce" sold 600k+ with virtually NO NOTICE in its 1st week :clap3:

Self-titled is one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the 2010s (Folklore could never)

So no

Well Folklore feels like an organic event while the other two seemed like media created hype campaign

Folklore has the sales but almost zero impact.

How so? Lemonade basically celebrates black culture so that's why it was so impactful.

folklore does not focus on one genre of music nor on one race, so it will not have the same impact as Lemonade simply because it was not crafted for that purpose.

However, folklore is very impactful in the way that is exposing people to more alternative genres of music and making indie producers/artists more known to the public.

Beyonce: 0 hour announcement

Folklore: 14 hour announcement

Metacritic:

Beyonce's Lemonade - 93 (Nominated for AOTY but lost to Adele's 25 who even said Beyonce should've won)

Taylor's Folklore - 88

6 weeks later - a lot more people were talking about Lemonade & Beyonce - stay pressed :fan:

But your whole post is about Beyoncé and not Lemonade. Both albums have different aspects and just the fact that you had to pull them both to even try to shade folklore :deadbanana4:

They are all impactful and classics, I don't see how a 14 hour announcement changes that but wtv

Self titled and lemonade were obvious much bigger events despite Folkore selling more, anyone denying that is delusional or just plain slow.
Speak now sold more than Teenage Dream, but we both know what was the bigger event in pop culture.

Hype vs no hype, not that hard to comprehend. A major artist teasing a album the day before release builds hype and gets people ready. Meanwhile, Bey blind-sided her fan base and achieved similar success.

OT: Beyonce and Lemonade are superior to Folklore in every way except sales, more acclaimed , more remembered, bigger events, have legacy & impact section on their respective Wikipedia pages.

How were Lemonade & BEYONCE not as successful, if not, more successful?? :rip: Also the undeniable FACT those two albums made it a thing for mainstream artists like Taylor to be able to surprise drop an album with no traditional rollout. The absolute nerve to claim Beyonce who set the standard failed in comparison.

This screams trying to erase a black persons achievements/impact with whitewashing. Yikes.

exactly :rip:

folklore and more but we won't get into that  is a product of what bey did with ST and lemons and beyonce in general

ST deserves the recognition for the "surprise drop" but its obvious folklore perfected it and did it better. :rip:

What numbers? cause ST has sold 2.4m pure and Lemonade 2m pure, while folklore 850k.

Beyonnaise

Bey spearheaded the surprise release strategy for major artists. All three are huge pop culture moments and exhibit why they will be the legends of their generation.

folklore was a normal release (not normal for Taylor tho). We all knew it was being released. ST dropped out of nowhere.

Self titled was a moment everyone was talking about.

Can’t say the same for Folklore and Lemonade.

EVERYONE was talking about Lemonade, wyd? It's probably Beyoncé's most discussed and known album by name... like... :rip:

1 hour ago, Digitalism said:

Didn't she make a music video for each song on the album?

And played with the controversy on lemonade.

Taylor literally released a video and went to sleep

Doing videos wasn't to sell the album... it was artistic expression :rip: Lemonade was built on far more than "controversy" which had died and been buried 6 feet under by that point
