i know i was supposed to write an album cause i had a concept and everything but i just haven't had the proper time to write

however i thought this time around it would be fun to choose the titles first and write the songs from there

SrZ69jN.png

1. dryad

2. ruin

3. cabin

4. gravestones

5. vermilion

6. sequoias on fire

7. 1908

8. ritual

9. wither

10. within the woods

11. vermont

12. aliens!

i still need to work on it (especially on the last chorus) but i really liked it as a demo

the whole aesthetic of the album is based on farm towns, majora's mask and folklore (taylor's impact i guess)

And sent. Kinda love this one but it doesn't feel standout to me.

I would add it to a couple of my playlists tbh :celestial5:. I do like the intensifying(?) around the 4-minute mark. Sounds like we're traveling to somewhere crazier for a bit

oh, well, i do like writing from a fantasy like pov so i like to create stories or base my songs on existing stories. uhh, i'm going to share some of my work from previous seasons just to try to give out ideas

"hanging bridge"

(inspired by Saria from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Her storyline makes me really emotional even if there aren't any real life experiences that are similar to it. It just hits me for some reason, and I decided to write a song about that)

Spoiler

[verse 1]

mist covered skies upon the woods of our lives

the green painted every corner as sorrow colored my heart

cause the tinkle of wind foretold destiny's plan

we were always bound to walk towards two different paths

stood outside the treehouse after the journey began

hoping this quest of time could bring you back to the start

but the land of the child was no home for a man

we were always bound to walk towards two different paths

[chorus]

sculpted my love and turned it to wood

a song that lied in a handcrafted flute

so when you play with the wind

and lead the meadows to sing

you'd be reminded of me

standing at the hanging bridge

encountered by fortune, divided by fate

our souls were not meant to share the same space

and even if we were destined to be worlds apart

i longed for a timeline where we'd cross our paths

craving for time to switch

to meet you at the hanging bridge

[verse 2]

seasons may have passed but time could not advance

stuck in the days of despair with no sign of tomorrow's glance

been hanging to the riddle between future and past

but i was chosen to walk towards a different path

from yours

still clinging to the days

before we walked to different ways

on the hanging bridge

[chorus]

sculpted my love and turned it to wood

a song that lied in a handcrafted flute

so when you play with the wind

and lead the meadows to sing

you'd be reminded of me

standing at the hanging bridge

encountered by fortune, divided by fate

our souls were not meant to share the same space

and even if we were destined to be worlds apart

i longed for a timeline where we'd cross our paths

craving for time to switch

to meet you at the hanging bridge

[bridge]

but the sound has changed

and so has the song

the minuet of forest

will guide you back home

and maybe then

we could meet again

[chorus]

sculpted my love and turned it to wood

a song that lied in a handcrafted flute

so when you play with the wind

and lead the meadows to sing

you'd be reminded of me

standing at the hanging bridge

encountered by fortune, divided by fate

our souls were not meant to share the same space

and even if we were destined to be worlds apart

i longed for a timeline where we'd cross our paths

craving for time to switch

to meet you at the hanging bridge

[outro]

and now

future, past, fate and time

have found a way to be aligned

and grace us with their godly favor

to finally collide in this chamber

there's no guilt, there's no remorse

as we cannot change destiny's course

so farewell, my dearest

we're facing goodbye

farewell to you, hero of time

this outcome might change

in another timeline

but our spirits will merge

until the end of lifetime

as i will always be with you

as i will always be your friend

...

i will always be your friend

"nibiru"

(inspired by death; you can write about things that make you feel some type of way even if you're haven't gone through them yet, but you're anticipating them)

Spoiler

[verse 1]

the universe froze for one fleeting instant

as blankets of stardust wrapped my fading existence

stars lulled my body to confer relief

in this final moment where i'm destined to leave

i'm heading back to the place where life was given to me

this beautiful cycle is a treasure to borrow

the cosmos has graced us with what we'll give back tomorrow

so we'll spend our days to leave a mark on this place

before we merge back into the infinite space

i'm heading back to the place where life was given to me

[pre chorus]

we were given this world as a timed paradise

so i crafted the legacy i would leave behind

and maybe in the moment when i close my eyes

i might hold a chance to always live in your mind

[chorus]

what a magical journey was my time on this earth

i poured my life out within the things i used to create

and shared them with the world, before my last breath

so the memories i made, could live beyond death

what a wonderful mystery lies in the stars

a new kind of life might await from afar

but if there's only pitch black when we're worlds apart

i know i'll survive within the space in your heart

[verse 2]

no futile regret could invade over the atmosphere

so i'll leave all remorse and bury them here

to take on a trip of deep tranquility

from a permanent sleep to an afterlife dream

i'm heading back to the place where life was given to me

[pre chorus]

we were given this world as a timed paradise

so i perfected the legacy i would leave behind

and maybe in the moment when i close my eyes

my memory could live forever in your mind

[chorus]

what a magical journey was my time on this earth

i poured my life out within the things i used to create

and shared them with the world, before my last breath

so the memories i made, could live beyond death

what a wonderful mystery lies in the stars

but if there's only pitch black when we're worlds apart

i know i'll survive within the space in your heart

[outro]

the universe froze for one final instant

i've turned into stardust to spread in the distance

but i'll eternally linger through the nooks of your mind

if you keep in orbit, these headworlds of mine

"melody of the gods"

(this song was basically inspired by this competition; i wrote it after i was almost eliminated before the finale and felt like i wasn't as good (?). you can write about little things that might seem unimportant but can trigger strong emotions on you)

Spoiler

[verse 1]

the gates of the underworld welcome the souls of the dead

hades provides shelter to those who departed from earth

a house for the ones who served their purpose in life

and to those who faced battles they couldn't survive

i've entered in life to his kingdom of demise

cause i was exiled from the lands of paradise

where i played for the gods, music that lied in my heart

but their ears were charmed by sounds i couldn't make with my harp

[pre chorus]

i've traveled through worlds to find a place for my songs

a harmonious haven where they'd always live on

and i thought i've found it in the heavens above

but the tunes i once played, were never enough

[chorus]

one day i'll create the melody of the gods

a song that could conquer the odds

by making divinities see

heaven's been saving a place made for me

you'll hear how eden's winds sing

music i once played on the strings

one day i'll create the melody of the gods

a song that could beat all the odds

by making divinities meet

the magic i've always carried within

someday the words that i used to sing

will endlessly echo in your heartstrings

[verse 2]

consumed by despair, i waited by the underworld's gates

where hades would pick the course of my unfortunate fate

he dispelled my sorrow as he looked through my eyes

and deprived me from entrance cause it wasn't my time

his words have been carved on the back of my mind

there's still one last song to play in the sky

to finally reach where victory lies

and secure me a place inside paradise

[pre chorus]

i've traveled through worlds to find a place for my songs

a harmonious haven where they'd always live on

and i'll get the key to the heavens above

by letting them hear the sound of my love

[chorus]

one day i'll create the melody of the gods

a song that could conquer the odds

by making divinities see

heaven's been saving a place made for me

you'll hear how eden's winds sing

the magic i've always carried within

someday the words that i used to sing

[outro]

one day i'll create the melody of the gods

a song that could conquer the odds

by gently playing the strings on my harp

as they would pull at the ones in your heart

I'm so sorry y'all my GRE exam was this week and so was the deadline for my graduate school application. I don't think I'll be able to submit a song and will thus be disqualified. I've had such an amazing time writing with y'all. I love you all so much and thank you to the judges for always providing such thoughtful critiques. Truly, I know it might sound silly but I feel as though I've grown quite a bit as a writer throughout participating. Much love to y'all!

Ummmmm I will write an extra song and submit it in your name, even if it’s bad, so at least you don’t just get disqualified. You deserve better :chick3:

But, good luck with your exam and application. I think you will kill it.

Are you happy with how it turned out?

Personally in my case I am, which I'm really happy about either way. I've submitted a lot of songs (I think twelve now) but I've been proud of them all which I hope to keep up, this challenge almost got me!!, but it ended up being good.

Stephen King's "Vermont" ????

No but I thought it had a sort of unnerving ambiance to it that would fit well with like a small town with a dark secret that's bubbling just under the surface, which reminded me a lot of Stephen King's work. Maybe not intentional but I love that about it!

I’m happy with it though I’d probably switch around this entry with my R5 one!
