Royals was uploaded to Soundcloud in November 2012 as part of The Love Club EP and released on Spotify and other music services in 2013. It topped the BB100 when she was 16, remaining at #1 for nine weeks. The song was nominated for 3x Grammys and won Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo performance at the 2014 awards show, making Lorde the youngest ever winner of those categories. The song was certified Platinum in the US in 2013 and Diamond in 2017. This streaming milestone was reached just one year after passing 600 million streams, making 'Royals' one of the most streamed songs of 2013 and the most streamed female song from that year. The nearest might be 'Dark Horse' by Katy Perry featuring Juicy J at 695 million streams. For male artists there is 'Wake Me Up' from Avicii with 1,014 million streams.
