Should ITunes Previews count as streams?

I remember someone mentioning this a long time ago and honestly it sort of makes sense :rip:

If all you need is to listen to 30 secs of a song on YouTube or Spotify (every person has access to these for free) for it to count on BBH100, should listening to previews on ITunes (1:30 seconds of a song) count too?

Now that you mention it :rip:

It would be very interesting to know what kind of numbers previews did at the height of digital sales. I feel like there could have easily been millions of previews per day when some songs did close to 1 million sales in a week. I doubt they keep any of that information tho.

Now wait, you have a point. I doubt it would make much of a difference now since iTunes isn't much relevant, but if they counted those streams towards certifications starting from when the preview feature was introduced, they could give some big boosts to songs that were big when iTunes was at its peak. Highly doubt it would happen, but it should I think. At the very least, they should roll them into the songs' Apple Music streams, but it's not like we even see those so. :skull:

I mean...

Look how long it took for them to get on board with streams in general!

Imagine 30 sec. previewed streams?

It would just be another means to manipulate the charts. :doc:

I can already see the Chrome extension that will silently replay the same iTunes preview in the background.

Previews are 90 seconds tho for most songs (2:30 or above) :skull: ... at least for Google Play. Idk about iTunes or others
