Are Rihanna's hits bigger than Britney's?

Recommended Posts

Drive Bitch

Inspired by the dozens of similar threads this week (none of which were shut down)...whose hits were bigger? The Umbrella singer, of the almost-Umbrella singer?

Rihanna doesn’t have a Toxic or a Baby One More Time so Britney by default.

What does "a Toxic or Baby One More Time" mean in chart terms, since Rihanna has songs that were much bigger on both US and global charts?

I’m sure the average person in the street will know those songs over Umbrella or Work, and I say that as a big fan of both (almost a stan).

Rih is also a hit maker but no.

Britney’s cultural impact >>>>

The only thing we can go off is charts, "cultural impact" is a nebulous term. I see stans use it for all their fave's songs.

Rihanna’s Umbrella, a Britney deject, would only be Britney’s fourth biggest song whereas it’s Rihanna’s biggest. That kinda says it all, huh?

So Umbrella our WFL or Take a Bow aren't big Classic hits? Yes I agree Britney hits Are massive and bigger but we’re not going to make it seem as if Rihanna does not have timeless signature hits as well

No, Rihanna doesn't have a song as big as BOMT/Oops/Toxic but they're definitely much bigger than Britney's peers like Christina Aguilera for example ! :clap3:

Billboard is measuring US only. Rihanna is global.

No, charts isn’t the only thing we “can go off”, it’s in fact one of the most irrelevant methods to use. Lil’ Kim was a chart flop yet is the most influential female rapper of all time, again, cultural impact >>>

Charts, are not something to base success off (example: Toxic barely cracked Top 10 while Trollz is a #1 ‘hit’). I love Rih but she is not above Britney Spears, nor are her hits.

I never said that. Rihanna is one of the biggest hitmakers of 2006-2014 and Umbrella is huge and so are many of her hits. I’m a huge fan of both, and as much as I love Rih, she does not have a Toxic or especially a Baby One More Time, which is one of the most iconic songs of all time.

According to Billboard, Slave 4 You is a #27 hit while Trollz is a #1 hit... do not make me drag you on this peaceful Friday:michael:

He’s not talking about Rihanna, he’s trying to say Britney’s hits aren’t massive. But it’s an angry Aguilera stan triggered about the fact Britney has had her foot tightly placed on Christina’s neck since 1999.
