Achilles. Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 I think I might try writing for two different labels and seeing what I like better.

Kunst Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 @Temporal I know this comment came kinda late, but i just got out of work and I'm catching up with the thread. Just wanted to clarify two particular lyrics: "lies on the rocks for too long ever since" was supposed to continue the concept of being sober, but metaphorically being drunk on your partner's lies, to the point you'd "drink" them "on the rocks", as if they could bring you pleasure (because the truth doesn't) "selling hope for peace" was meant to imply that I'm trading any hope of us working things out, for peace for myself
Jackson Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 not him submitting a song without posting on nuTRL once

Temporal Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 @SaintWest Okay looking back at your song again, I liked the idea behind using the numbers in the verses as it fit your theme - I love seeing that kind of parallelism - however, the verses themselves felt choppy because each line didn't flow into the next (the first verse, in particular, being the worst, the second being much better). You were bouncing from all of these different ideas to get the numbers to work, and "four more healing midnight dates" for example is a bit extra? That one instance in particular sticks out because of the double adjective. The repetition of "numbers" in the chorus is cute for a Pop song, but it kind of reduced the more serious aspect of the song that you put forth in the verses, and wasn't your best use of space in a lyric contest. I also would've liked to see a more distinct writing style, because there wasn't a lot of nuance with this and blended more into the background whereas other songwriters here - both new and old - have seemingly developed more into their own. I think you're still searching a bit. cc: @ceremonials ha fat ass
Jackson Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Me arriving back in the top 5 for a 6th consecutive week next week
