Can you bounce back and send The Mole a clear message that you are not to be messed with? Or will The Mole continue to toy with you all? Round 7 - The Detective Breaking news! The prize ruby has been stolen. The King and Queen of Moletown were throwing a dinner party at their castle and invited eight guests. The women came dressed in beautiful ball gowns, pure white gloves that went up to the elbow and bejewelled high heel shoes, looking spectacular. The men came in their finest tuxedos and the most dapper Oxford shoes. After a beautiful banquet of assorted deep-fried seafood, homemade pasta with marinara sauce and soufflé for dessert (served by their butler and prepared by the chef with extreme hygiene and culinary prowess) and some lively conversation, the King arose from his chair to collect more wine from the wine cellar in their castle at around 10PM. On his way to the wine cellar, he passed the jewel room which contained the ruby that he showed off earlier in the night to his guests. To his horror, the prize ruby was gone. He screamed and ultimately fainted due to the discovery. The Queen rushed over to help him and also saw that the ruby was missing. She turned around and laid suspicious eyes on the guests and her workers. You work at the local police station and have been assigned to the case. You are asked to determine who stole the ruby. The ten suspects are: Princess Sky Prince Forest Royal Guard Leon (normally security, but also invited as guest) Prime Minister Ryan Rain Lady Cherry Butler Bernard Branch Chef Walter Wolf Roberta Rose (the biggest superstar in Moletown) Abigail Acorn (best friend of Princess Sky) Desmond Dartmouth (best friend of Prince Forest) Upon examination of the crime scene, you make some observations. The prize ruby was held in a glass container which was totally shattered and there were pieces of glass all over the floor around the pedestal that the ruby sat. It is likely that the glass was shattered by an instrument with a sharp point. The fingerprints of Princess Sky, Prince Forest and Butler Branch have been found in the room. There are no fingerprints on the glass, however some of the glass fragments were particularly shiny. The hair fibres of Desmond Dartmouth, Lady Cherry, Roberta Rose and Abigail Acorn were found in the room. There seems to be some deep and recent heel-to-toe footprint impressions in the rug, the latest of which likely belongs to the perpetrator and occurred at around 9PM according to forensic investigators. There was also a red substance found in the footprints on the rug. The room is towards the back of the house, near the servant and guard living quarters, and in between the kitchen and bathroom/toilet. The wine cellar is the room at the very back. The dining room is further forward in the house, as is the living room which was where the guests played post-dinner games such as charades. The room was locked with a code. No alarm went off during the night. The machine to input the code had no fingerprints on it (except for the King and Queen's), but was oddly shiny like some of the fragments of glass. There are traces of blood on a letter opener in the room belonging to Prime Minister Ryan Rain. You speak to the King and the Queen and they give you a rundown of the night: 6PM: Guests arrive 6:30PM: First course *Lively chit chat around the table* 8:45PM: Second course 9:15PM: Games in the living room 10PM: Third course 10PM: The ruby was stolen The King and Queen stated that most of their guests used the bathroom, but could not remember who and when. However, they are sure that both Desmond and Prince Forest retrieved more wine from the wine cellar at around 8:30PM, just before the second course. They also know that Royal Guard Leon and Chef Wolf left their posts at some point in time because they heard a loud bang in the kitchen. They also mention that they kept the code secret, but that a handful of people knew it either because they worked in the castle or had seen them imputing it. You have all the suspects at the station. You only have time to interview three of them initially. You can ask whatever you would like, whether it be determining their motives, location, or knowledge. You can ask for as long as the suspect is willing to talk. Some suspects will be less willing to talk than others. Interviews are to occur in the thread. Once you have interviewed all three, you can either make an accusation or interview a further two suspects. Once you have interviewed these two, you can either make an accusation or interview one more suspect. Then you must make an accusation. As such, there is no deadline. Please agree on a suspect and you can start discussing the questions you will ask immediately and you can ask as many questions as you would like without waiting for my response. I will respond when I am online. Please note, if I arrive to 15 questions (for example), I (as the suspect) may only decide to answer 6 (for example) and end the interview with “No comment”. Correct accusation after first batch of interviews = $50,000 Mole money each + one person eliminated Correct accusation after second batch of interviews = $30,000 Mole money each + one person eliminated Correct accusation after last interview = $20,000 Mole money each + two people eliminated Incorrect accusation at any time = Failure of the task, no Mole money and three people eliminated Will you try your best to find the thief or will you try your best to make sure they are never known? Remember, there is a benefit in making people think you are The Mole. Also, this round requires participation from everybody. You all must ask at least two questions in total of any of the suspects (including questions I do not answer). Failure to do so will result in a penalty. Even if this is completed, any person who I deem to be uncooperative (and has a history of absence during challenges) will still receive the penalty. Me likey Yeah, all the challenges are collaborative. Work together and pick one and start thinking of questions and asking them of that suspect. Once I respond with "no comment", choose the next one until you've completed three. Then you can choose to interview another two or make an accusation.

Ask as many as you'd like and when I'm online, I will respond. But some of the suspects won't answer as many questions as others. Let's say Princess Sky only wants to answer 5 questions, she will answer the first 5 and then will say "no comment". That means it's time to move on and choose somebody else to interview.
