tove lo - thousand miles: This is pretty middle of the road for me. I like it, but I don't see it being in my Top 10.

Kelela - Rewind - I really liked LMK and in general I like that Kelela is a queer artist. I really like this song. Nice choice

Lorde - Buzzcut Season - eh, Lorde has grown on me since Royals blew up  7 years ago, but she's not exactly someone I'm going to automatically stan and be like OMG wig snatched like so many other people here are. This song is OK, but not mind-blowing

FKA Twigs - Kicks - honestly I don't see this scoring high with me, sorry.

Mariah Carey - Underneath the Stars: Cute song. Mariah's vocals and the subtle production really go well together. This COULD go in my Top 10. But it will at least be in the higher half of my rankings.

Sky Ferreira - Everything Is Embarassing: I mean, this isn't necessarily bad, but the title alone basically describes how ****ty Sky has become to her fans. So yeah, I have no respect for her.

Spoiler

  • Thousand Miles: My initial submission! — this song is fantastic and really deserved to be the follow-up after Talking Body. Still one of my favorite songs of hers to this day. Definitely ranking this high up.
  • Rewind: Fantastic choice from her.
  • Buzzcut Season: Lots of Lorde here. Love this song, but I already know that even comparing this to her other tracks submitted I’m preferring the other tracks. Not going towards Bottom3, that’s for sure.
  • Kicks: This is real cool.
  • Underneath the Stars: Beautiful song! Safe for me for sure.
  • Everything Is Embarrassing: Strong choice!
  • Sober: One of the songs from her that I’m more keen on. Again, the entries are insanely great, so I’m not sure if this’ll get a point though it’d be higher up than Buzzcut Season.
  • So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings: I keep seeing her name pop up — this is my first time listening. I really enjoyed this, though I know I’ll like upcoming songs more. A lot of players seem to love it, so good for you for a clever entry!
  • State of Grace: Smart song choice in that I’ve seen it very praised by her fans, but I’m more keen on other artists submitted here.
  • Do Ya Thang: Cute song, but not near the level it needed to be at for a round like this.
  • No Drug Like Me: Thought of sending her since as an artist she applies to the round super well. I liked the song since its release but I wish something a bit stronger was sent.
  • Supercut: Had this in my list of choices! — lots adore this song so I can see it ranking real high. If this doesn’t make my Top10, it was real close then.
  • Without You: I’ve always preferred her live version compared to the studio version, but I doubt we’re judging the songs based on that — still, I’m not sure if this would get points from me.
  • Shhh: I like RAYE, but this doesn’t hold a candle compared to what I’ve heard thus far. I’m sure the upcoming songs will knock it out the park, too.
  • Around U: Mmm… wasn’t feeling this.
  • Desperado: Always been one of my favorites off of ANTI. Was going through an interesting time in life when this record dropped, so the nostalgia/feels from listening to it now is really making me want to award it points.
  • Off to the Races: YOU JUST KNEW what you were doing with this one, didn’t you?!?!
  • Hummingbird Heartbeat: I know lots have adored this song since the record was released, but I never grew to love it as much. I can see this garnering a good amount of points though!
  • better off: I immediately regretted not sending Greedy in (I had changed my choice like three times so I wasn’t gonna bother Z like that). The song’s nice, but I think out of all the Ariana options it falls flat. Again, I don’t like to be the one that says “There were better choices for this artist” but this round is so tight!!!
  • Lost In Paradise: I’ve always enjoyed this song, but it doesn’t top Desperado for me and I see Consideration is here, so it won’t be getting points from me.
  • Play With Fire: The artist and song choice both throw me off a bit here. I’ve liked the song, but it doesn’t come close to many of the entires here for me. The only songs I could think of from her that’d get me to give points are Gypsy Woman & Breathe In. Breathe Out.
  • Cornelia Street: I’d say the same here as State of Grace.
  • No One’s Here to Sleep: It’d be interesting to know the logic behind this one. Wasn’t feeling the song, either.
  • The Louvre: Great, great choice.
  • Consideration: Solid as hell album opener — listening to this for the first time when the record was finally released was quite a moment.
  • Don’t Talk About It: Ayyy, more Tove! I submitted this song for a round in a different season and ended up winning that round, so I’m confident you’ll be safe. Definitely going higher up for me — it’s always been my favorite on Lady Wood.
  • Warm Blood: More fitting than No Drug Like Me for sure. I can see this making my Top10.
  • ghostin: I didn’t like this album when it came out — this song was one of the few I really enjoyed. The emotion here is crazy. I’ll probably sneak a point/two for this.
  • Ribs: Ahhhhhhhhh, I’m so mad at myself for not thinking of this one!!! Definitely going on the higher half of my Top10.
  • The greatest: Fantastic choice. Nowhere near the bottom for me.
  • Thinking ‘Bout You: One of the stronger Dangerous Woman cuts for sure. I’m tempted to give this a point (God I just wanna give the majority of songs points here), but I don’t see myself doing it. Again, wouldn’t be towards my bottom at all.
  • Love song: One of my favorites from Norman ****ing Rockwell! It’s such a beautiful song — you’ve got at least a point from me for sure.
  • Onanon: I was hoping to see Blue Light entered, but this song’ll fare well from both me and hopefully everyone else considering how Kelela’s done in the history of the game.
  • everytime: One of my favorites from Sweetener. Doesn’t hit as hard as other songs in here for me, but I wouldn’t place it in a Bottom3.
  • Friday: I’m curious if Z sent this as a psuedo?
  • Ocean of Tears: This is real solid as well. I should check out the LP after this.

Lorde - Sober - better than Buzzcut Session, but when we have SO many songs with this title - it doesn't hold up to P!nk, Kelly, Selena, Niykee Heaton or even Demi's. It's still nice though.

Posted

Caroline Polachek - So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings - The song isn't bad but the song title is ****ing cringeworthy as **** :skull:

Posted

Taylor Swift - State of Grace - One of the best songs on Red. Good choice :clap3:

Posted

Rihanna - Do Ya Thang - NOPE. There were definitely better Rih tracks for this round to submit.

Posted

Carly Rae Jepsen - No Drug Like Me - this won the album survivor so not surprised it got sent. It's not a song I listen to a lot but it's good for night time and after midnight and on rainy days. It's a good vibe like that.

this should be in my Top 10 regardless.
