iamvladd Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Kendrick Lamar's latest album, DAMN., dropped right on schedule Thursday night/Friday morning, and immediately sailed to #1 on iTunes. The set is off to a stronger start than its predecessor, 2015’s To Pimp a Butterfly, registering a 13% higher number in iTunes’ overnight sales and preorder redemptions. Will it meet or beat Butterfly’s first week sales of 324k? Will Lamar become the first artist other than Drake to crack 200 million streams for a single album in one week? If so, how high will it go? http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=305944

slw84 Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 damn and this is before easter discounts too so I expect the itunes numbers to go up nad i'm sure streams will do well based on the quality. AOTY (success, acclaim, presumable impact, hits) might really come his way. DAMN...

alexanderao Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Before HDD put out their initial projections, I had a hunch that he'd be able to do 700K. I still don't think he'll get there, but after seeing his INSANE first-day Spotify numbers, I think 550-600K is very plausible.
QueenofCopyPaste Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Streeting this week is Kendrick, of course. The TDE/Aftermath/Interscope star’s DAMN. looks like it's poised to debut at the top of next week’s chart with a projected number around 450k. Single “HUMBLE” is massive, currently sitting at the top of our Streaming Songs Chart with around 26m streams earned this week. http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=305961
ATRL Moderator Samson Posted April 15, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted April 15, 2017 a MASTERPIECE smashing. talent actually won

iamvladd Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 UPDATE: Kendrick Lamar will become the first artist other than Drake to collect more than 200 million streams for an album in a single week. Tracks from DAMN. (TDE/Interscope) have already been streamed more than 50 million times. Kendrick Lamar (TDE/Interscope) 460-485k SPS, 275-300k album John Mayer (Columbia) 110-120k, 105-110k http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=305967
Starkboy Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Congrats! Big numbers as expected. Wow at John Mayer, he's still pulling big numbers

Tracks from DAMN. (TDE/Interscope) have already been streamed more than 50 million times. Oh wow. And with less than 15 tracks. Pretty neat.
Mark Rih Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Well this is exactly what I was expecting tbh, king
Team_Avatar Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 King. Of. Pop. Poor Drake. He may still have insane album numbers, but Kendrick has acclaim, talent, and decent numbers.

Also how did More Life do 500k with only 200k pure, but Damn is doing less with better streams & sales Edited April 15, 2017 by Tinashebanks

Where'd you get the idea it's doing better in streams when that update said it'd be crossing 200m and Drake almost did 400m???? Anywho HDD saying 480-510k (280-310) now and the chance the album hits 300m. So yeah now being slightly closer to Drake's numbers + higher pure he might outdo him. DAMN.'s better anyway.
Rico Shameless v2 Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 (edited) Kendrick Lamar will become the first artist other than Drake to collect more than 200 million streams for an album in a single week. And it's now looking like the set could reach heights as high as 300m. This would be only the second time since we’ve been monitoring streams that tracks from an album have been streamed over 300m times. The first, of course, was with Drake’s More Lifeonly a few weeks ago, which pulled in 385m streams; More Life scored the year’s biggest debut with 505k. THIS WEEK'S CHART-TOPPING DEBUTS:Kendrick Lamar(TDE/Interscope) 480-510k SPS, 280-305k album.John Mayer (Columbia) 110-120k, 105-110k http://m.hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=305967 Edited April 17, 2017 by Rico Shameless v2

Idk I read somewhere that Kendrick broke the first day streams for an album on spotify & apple music that must not be the case then
