P!nk Forever Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Inviting all Lipsters to play judge and tell me if I'm worthy of being a hybrid stan. The Top 10 was actually harder to make than the P!nk one because Lana's videography is much more complex. Sit back and enjoy!
P!nk Forever Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 #10: WEST COAST ALBUM: ULTRAVIOLENCE YEAR: 2014 DIRECTOR: VINCENT HAYCOCK I was torn between "West Coast" and the other monochromatic video "Blue Jeans" but ended up with the one that includes the iconic fire scenes and the sudden color switch.
P!nk Forever Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 #9: VIDEO GAMES ALBUM: BORN TO DIE YEAR: 2011 DIRECTOR: LANA DEL REY While the video itself is not an HD masterpiece Lana created a world around her with self directed stuff like this. The imagery is so well thought out and put together that it's hard to not add this gem of a video to the Top 10.
P!nk Forever Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 #8: LOVE ALBUM: LUST FOR LIFE YEAR: 2017 DIRECTOR: RICH LEE Lana may only do the singing part but the cinematography of the video is top notch. The space setting is incredible and the close ups of a smiling Lana for once are an extra you won't want to miss.
P!nk Forever Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 #7: SHADES OF COOL ALBUM: ULTRAVIOLENCE YEAR: 2014 DIRECTOR: JAKE NAVA Lana lives out her daddy complex to the fullest in this piece. It's the water scene where she just comes out that is the highlight of it all.
P!nk Forever Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 #6: NATIONAL ANTHEM ALBUM: BORN TO DIE YEAR: 2012 DIRECTOR: ANTHONY MANDLER Leave it to Lana to create her own version of the Kennedys and giving her best Marilyn Monroe impression. The way Lana reflects on history is always something special.
P!nk Forever Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 #5: DOIN' TIME ALBUM: NORMAN ****ING ROCKWELL YEAR: 2019 DIRECTOR: RICH LEE Lana going all big, feminist style in this old movie flicks inspired video. With the blonde wig she channels Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. But one can also see a similarity to her original alter ego Lizzy Grant.
P!nk Forever Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 #4: TROPICO ALBUM: PARADISE (EP) YEAR: 2013 DIRECTOR: ANTHONY MANDLER The best art film to have ever existed inside the 2010s decade. Sorry, Kanye, not sorry. The story is beautiful, the grainy filter which is present at times not so much. The biblical context is another thing but Lana shows once more what a creative mastermind she is along with the help of an established director.
P!nk Forever Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 #3: HIGH BY THE BEACH ALBUM: HONEYMOON YEAR: 2015 DIRECTOR: FRANCESCO CARROZZINI Another video in which Lana is going all hardcore on the paparazzi who spies on her beach house, just in time to shoot him with her gun. Pretty iconic.
P!nk Forever Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 #2: RIDE ALBUM: PARADISE (EP) YEAR: 2012 DIRECTOR: ANTHONY MANDLER Again Lana shares similarities to Julia Roberts with her donned hair and carefree spirit. The daddy complex is more than present here but that doesn't take away from the quality of the video. The monologues make the video pretty special too.
P!nk Forever Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 #1: BORN TO DIE ALBUM: BORN TO DIE YEAR: 2011 DIRECTOR: YOANN LEMOINE You just need two things if you want to show the bitches how it's done: A throne and two tigers. And the place where everything is happening better be a cathedral. The whole video is dramatic in such a good way. We see a half naked Lana, the US flag waving in the back - she's cuddling with her boyfriend played by Bradley Soileau, who also carries a dead Lana out of a car wreck. To me still the best video of the decade. You won't find anything better unless I'm out of the loop.
TheWayWeWere Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Ride will always be my all-time favorite Lana vid it basically made me her stan BTD is great too :clap3 ew, Tropico is a bit high National Anthem and SHades of Cool slays West Coast vid was okay, but I low-key love Album Trailer more
P!nk Forever Posted January 3, 2020 Author Posted January 3, 2020 I see Tropico is not everyone's cup of tea. I like it enough for all of us.
