Mhm mhm mhm already given my thoughts on 7 Y*ars  I actually have similar feelings with Take Me to Church, honestly! Just not nearly as strong. Say Something and All the Stars are cute. Good Life + The Less I Know :eddie: Something Good Can Work  Both of the highest 2019 entries are solid choices :date: Cool for the Summer & F**k You yup yup :clap3::clap3::clap3: Actually didn't know Bruno wrote that one, or maybe I simply forgot. As for it being his best of the decade, it's possible but there's plenty of heavy contenders. :gaycat3:

From the remaining acts, I really enjoy 7 of them :alexz3: Surprised to see Katy will be making it. Hopefully your picks for Drake and Florence are strong because I'm not really a fan of either.

Lol I thought this was your 2019 countdown and not your decade. Perched to see what it is tho!

Take me to church is really a beautiful song, and the video really helped bring all the emotion on it! :clap3:

Singles 10-1

10 Sam Smith – Stay with Me [2014]

Probably ATRL is more a fan of Sam’s recent more upbeat releases, and while they are pretty great I think ballads show off his vocal ability better. This one might be lyrically basic but when he delivers it with so much emotion it doesn’t really matter.

9 Drake – Nice for What [2018]

I’m not a huge Drake fan, in fact I only like his stuff every so often but when he gets it right he’s amazing. In this song the sample is perfectly utilized to make it high energy all the way through, it was such a bop that I couldn’t get it off repeat for most of 2018.

8 CHVRCHES – The Mother We Share [2013]

All the things I love about electro-influenced indie pop culminate in this song: the monster chorus, the carefully crafted production, the unique vocal styling and more. In fact this whole era was amazing, I loved every single.

7 Lana Del Rey – Born to Die [2012]

Maybe a basic choice, but what can I say it’s acclaimed for a reason. The song by itself is majestic enough but the video lifts it to a whole different level.

6 Katy Perry – Teenage Dream [2010]

Another basic choice I guess, but it’s way better than those mediocre “pop perfection” like Into You and Run Away with Me and more recently All the Time (don’t @ me). Those high pitched vocals in the verses leading up to the huge climactic chorus combined with the carefree lyrics truly made for one of the biggest pop anthems of our generation. Sadly Katy seems to have lost her way lately, but her impact won’t be fading anytime soon.

5 Vampire Weekend – Giving Up the Gun [2010]

The highest alternative band in the list is revealed here, well unless you count Florence + the Machine as a band (I don’t lol). The song is amazingly written as usual from VW and the production goes towards the pop direction while still maintaining the unique combination of sounds that they’re known for. Contra was their magnum opus and while they continue to release quality music I don’t think they’ll be topping it anytime soon.

4 Ed Sheeran – Photograph [2015]

The highest male entry of the list. Ed Sheeran isn’t really worth mentioning these days but in his first two eras he was amazing. This song is so well written and has an amazing imagery to go along with it, but of course ATRL would discredit it as “boring” because it doesn’t fit the mold of pop girl that they support.

3 Florence + the Machine – Never Let Me Go [2012]

Ceremonials is an incredible album, if I had an albums list for the decade I’m pretty sure it would be top 10 at least. While Shake It Out was pretty epic too I think the more stripped back production on this one allows her voice to shine through more, and the open ended nature of the lyrics really makes you think.

2 Lorde – Team [2014]

Although Lorde is probably defined as more of an alternative artist songs like this show that she can also excel at straightforward pop when she puts her mind to it. Unlike Royals this song is definitely not minimalist but it carries all the lyrical weight and unique vocal stylings that we’ve come to expect from her.

1 Beyonce – Formation [2016]

Well this is probably one of my less controversial #1 picks in a music chart lol. I mean I know some people who don’t like it or think it’s overrated, both in real life and on ATRL, but I’ve also seen many year end and decade end lists placing it high so overall it’s pretty acclaimed. It’s an interesting choice for me in that there aren’t really any other songs like this in my top 10 or maybe even my whole chart, but it delivers a strong and super relevant statement both in lyrics and video while simultaneously being super catchy, and Beyonce’s dominating personality fits perfectly with the sparse yet attention grabbing production. Maybe other songs I listened to more, but this was the one that defined my decade, it basically has everything I look for in music so it had to be my #1. Long live Queen B!

Maybe you won't like the Drake one, but hopefully you at least appreciated Florence's Ceremonials era!

Oh wow Amazing top 10. I like all the songs and artists in the top 10  :jonny5:

I didn't expect Beyoncé to be your #1. Formation is really great :clap3:

Also great to see Teenage Dream, Nice for what and Team in the top 10.

The Mother We Share is so unique and beautiful  :heart2:

I honestly prefer the old Sam unlike ATRL but his new music is cute too.

Formation at #1

There was a major controversy over the video for Formation, mainly due to the police brutality issue.

Oh I forgot you loved Nice for What  Can't relate to that, was hoping it'd be one of his earlier hits. Was also hoping Florence's pick would be SIO or DDAO, but I think I enjoyed Never Let Me Go.

Stay with Me :heart2: Teenage Dream :alexz3: Photograph is an Ed discography highlight and we SHOULD say it!!! The Mother We Share, Born to Die and Team :worship2: :worship2::worship2: Now as for Formation... I love the video and the messages she put in there but as for the song alone, I think it's actually the weakest from Lemonade. At least it's still enjoyable and I can understand it being #1. :lakitu:

Great list overall :celestial4:

Great list overall :celestial4:

I even tried listening to Scorpion after NFW and IMF but it was kind of :skull:

Dog Days Are Over was more a last decade song imo and anyway it's not really her best. I could've chosen Shake It Out but I think NLMG resonated with me more, both are amazing though. Formation the song is a bop :katie2: but I can see why it's not for everyone

I've only heard a few snippets and all I can say is you are quite brave to listen in full :fan: Especially with that long tracklist

Whoops for some reason I thought DDAO was from the same album :fan:

Sam, CHVRCHES, Vampire Weekend, Katy and Ed Sheeran :clap3:  That #1 though :rip:
