MP2K Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 30. “Lark” by Angel Olsen (2019) 29. “Should Have Known Better” by Sufjan Stevens (2015) 28. “The Wire” by HAIM (2013) 27. “Lonely Boy” by The Black Keys (2011) 26. “Licking An Orchid” by Yves Tumor (2018) 25. “Eventually” by Tame Impala (2015) 24. “Somebody Else” by The 1975 (2016) 23. “Ain't It Fun” by Paramore (2014) 22. “Laura” by Bat For Lashes (2012) 21. “Lover of Mine” by Beach House (2010)
MP2K Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 20. “Bizness” by Tune-Yards (2011) A diverse collection of animated sounds and African influences. This is hippie art right here. 19. “Everything Is Embarrassing” by Sky Ferreira (2012) Dev really knows how to pen a retro 80s pop huh? Sky’s voice/tone was also meant for that decade as well. 18. “Retrograde” by James Blake (2013) Just hauntingly beautiful with synths and a voice that gives you goosebumps. 17. “Happy” by Mitski (2016) Did she not serve one of the best opening liners? Love the trajectory of this song from its eerie start to its explosive build ups. 16. “The House That Heaven Built” by Japandroids (2012) Never thought this would be my speed but this is a song you cannot help but to mosh out to and it’s super easy on the ears for it to be garage rock. Super accessible for non-rock listeners. 15. “It's Real” by Real Estate (2011) So chill, so mellow and gives such a nostalgic vibe. I seek Real Estate when I’m in a certain mood. 14. “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster The People (2011) This wouldn’t fly in the latter half of 2010s. There’s a dark meaning to this song that everyone always talks about, but you can overlook it by its sounds of bright sunny spring. That’s what reels you in anyway. 13. “Diane Young” by Vampire Weekend (2013) While the gorls may love “Hannah Hunt,” I like the **** from them that you can bop to, that guitar pop-punk! 12. “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence + The Machine (2010) Listen to this as a motivator every time you say “____ is going to be my year.” 11. “You’re Not The One” by Sky Ferreira (2013) Is it Cyndi? Is it Blondie!? Is it Joan? Is it ‘donna?
MP2K Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 (edited) 10. “Sun in Your Eyes” by Grizzly Bear (2015) What a 7-minute journey full of emotion. One of my favorite album cuts from a band this decade. 09. “A Dream of You and Me” by Future Islands (2014) If I were old and were into sailing, this would be my go-to. 08. “Reflektor” by Arcade Fire (2013) Groovy and majestic. Great comeback. 07. “My Baby Don't Understand Me” by Natalie Prass (2015) I’m down on bended knee! Gorgeous arrangements and vocals. 06. “Lifetime” by Yves Tumor (2018) Everything about Yves’ story and artistry is intriguing. The most experimental artist to debut in the more recent years as we close out the decade. This brings back the feel of 90s goth and trip hop and I didn’t even like it that much, but thanks I’m a fan now. 05. “Five Seconds” by Twin Shadow (2012) Top 10 songs to listen to when you’re in a high-speed chase… if you were ever about that life. This literally sounds like a classic though. 04. “Myth” by Beach House (2012) Brings such a euphoric feeling, I almost cry every time, honestly. Dream Pop record of the decade. 03. “True Affection” by Father John Misty (2015) Smooth AF. Catch the avatar, you saw this coming. 02. “Round And Round” by Ariel Pink (2010) Ariel is such an offbeat artist. This record is AM-radio-nostalgic through and through. It’s almost like it was never supposed to come about with a catchy melody and dreamy build up; like it just happened on accident. 01. “Let It Happen” by Tame Impala (2015) Kings of psychedelic funk! One of my most replayed songs in history. Love a good build up, switch up, fades and all the layers of this journey of a track. Edited December 29, 2019 by MP2K

World Eater Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 not gonna list everything I like because it would take too much time just to make it obvious, I see SO MUCH talent on both lists oh man Betray My Heart is so good, I feel like I'm in a trance everytime I hear it Jasmine and Play By Play are some of my personal favorites from this decade the winner in the r&b category is absolutely deserving, no explanation needed Coulda Been My Love is so simple yet it works like nothing else really nice to see some seemingly overlooked indie classics (well, that's actually subjective but w/e) from the early 10s like Hurting (!!!), Dance for You, I Belong in Your Arms, Laura, Bizness, The House That Heaven Built or It's Real can't believe there's another Sun in Your Eyes stan easily top 3 in GB's catalogue top 10 is perfect Myth is my song of the decade and Round and Round is also up there
