jose168 Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 30. Boyfriends/Can't Find My Heart - Broken Social Scene I just had boyfriends here at first but I figured I'd give my favorite song from each EP BSS have put out since I'd wasn’t doing an EP list. Boyfriends is a manshaming ANTHEM and Can't find my heart is a fun 80s inspired indie rock tune. 29. Babysitter - DaBaby/Offset Da Baby has put out a lot of music this year, but I feel like this banger really sums up his charm, wit, and humor. 28. Ruby - Strand of Oaks “Ruby is the happiest song I’ve ever written” according to Showalter, and it mostly plays out like that. But the key change in the bridge has such a sad vibe to it. 27. Blankenship - DIIV A great current number on the current struggle we are facing with climate change, and the activism being lead by youth. 26. Hey Ma - Bon Iver Hey Ma is a textbook Bon Iver song, exactly how you would describe one to somebody. Peak nostalgia factor here! 25. Graduate - Simon Curtis Simon Curtis had his own droplets era this year, and this was my favourite. Earworm falsetto highs and a bright pure pop number. And given that I graduate soon, I resonate! 24. Number One Fan - MUNA It's ATRL as a song, we stan! 23. Boca Llena - Y La Bamba Lovely dream pop number with traditional mexican musical influences. 22. Andromeda - Weyes Blood The Foxygen touches are quite apparent in the production here, and adds some subtle groove to Weyes Blood somewhat melancholic vocal performance. The bridge was an excellent emotional peak. 21. Battle Lines - Kero Kero Bonito Sorry swimming stans, but this IS it. A departure from her bubblegum, quirky synthpop song, this song is a measured anthem with an electroclash climax ready to send the gays to war!
potent Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Number One Fan is a bop, I wish I had been able to get into it more though. Didn't check Bon Iver this year, I should listen to that one.
Jorge Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Graduate I don't know the rest I will make the effort to listen 'em Please, Don't Forget to comment on my Top 100 Countdown
Pink Matter Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 DHL, 7 rings, Cash Sh*t Gonna find time to listen to the Harry song/album and give Solo another shot I remember thinking MUNA's last project was cool so I might check that out.
Thickorita Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 the TASTE my type will never not go off i don't think i can do this again is SO good, such a good direction for him after his stunning debut (clairo is still an industry plant) LUV do me, will definitely collapse when i see it live so heavy i fell through the earth is kinda grimes on autopilot at this point but i don't care because i'm a sucker for her ambient fantasy soundtrack-y shtick at this point loved hot chip's album, honestly my biggest disappointed of 2017 was katy working with them only to produce a shitter like into me you see 7 rings is kinda the work of 2019, club staple and classic
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 28, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 28, 2019 Number One Fan, a masterpiece
Remmy Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Look at Her Now, everything i wanted, Wild Roses, Andromeda 1,2,3 Dayz Up Juice, Want You In My Room, I'll Be Your Girl, Do Me, Cruel Summer, Adore You and Number One Fan WOW so many knocks. Obsessed with Real Love Always a hoe for an explosive chorus. No Drug Like Me is my favorite from Dedicated, should've been higher!

Madonna Rocket - Show Me The Body Awesome punk number with a banger of a chorus and infectious riffs, you'll want to replay before its over. 19. Blood of the Fang - clipping. This radical protest song has so many powerful nuggets hidden in the bars, even where he it seems to be extremely direct. Themes include a radical left critique of the current status quo, through the lens of a black american, and even critiques of prominent black left movement BLM. Check out the Genius article on this. 18. Barefoot in the Park - James Blake/Rosalía Rosalia steals the show unsurprisingly with her restrained, breathy vocal performance. The song bridges their two styles, flamenco tinged latin pop and triphop influenced IDM and the results slap. 17. Gone - Charli XCX & Christine and the Queens One of the most acclaimed pop songs of the year and for good reason, this epic collab between Charli XCX and C&TQ’s is introspective power pop reaching heights of peak Robynisms, while having those Charli vocal effect and production quirks and of course, an anthemic bilingual bridge. 16. Mr. Radioactive - Bear Hands Bear Hands have a fun rhythmic rap-sung post-pop style that really shines through in this stadium ready number. Insanely catchy melody is backed by equally groovy riffs. 15. Stay Flo - Solange When I Get Home was a much more subtle album than its predecessor. Stay Flo is an exception to this. It's in your face, but still cool about it. Metro Boomin does a fantastic job here, making it a standout and radio-ready single while still quintessential Solange. 14. Frail State of Mind - The 1975 NGL this is the first song I've heard from them. The hipster gays stan way too hard so I actively avoided! But this song is great sad pop. Reminds me of Caribou. I'll be looking forward to the album as well as their back catalog! 13. Reptile - Periphery The 16 minute track highlights the genre bending direction the band has taken, where it can easily be partitioned into 4 different songs, yet does not exhaust like you'd expect. The song hits progressive metal, punk, and pop, and the production is top notch. 12. My Love Was Like The Rain - Låpsley Gorgeous comeback single by the british singer-songwriter, described as "Emotional love" in the quartet of “Emotional love, physical desire, depression and self-worth". Her unique timbre shines and each word in the song is enounced in a powerful, staying way. 11. Takashi - Flying Lotus This funky jazz ensemble did not disappoint, and had me highly anticipate FlyLo's Flamagra. The song is a return to Cosmogramma highs and we LOVE to see it.

Remmy Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Gone Don't know why but I was underwhelmed on my first listen and ignored it for a bit, then I saw the greatness a little later on.
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 29, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 29, 2019 Not a fan of Charli lately
potent Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 (edited) Gone was cute, but I mainly listened for Christine & the Queens, not a huge Charli fan. Frail State of Mind also cute, but The 1975 kinda lost my attention lately tbh. That Lapsley song sounds interesting, I should check it out. Edited December 29, 2019 by potent
