potent Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Sunflower is a bop, good to see VW getting some appreciation in the Best Ofs Sam Smith had a great new direction this year, at first I wasn't sure about it but I think it really works for them. I should check out that Bear Hands song, I've liked some songs from them in the past.
jose168 Posted December 22, 2019 Author Posted December 22, 2019 Sorry for the delay 80. Father of All... - Green Day This song was kind of panned and I don’t get it?? Sure the vocals aren't uuuh, propper. But they convey a **** you attitude that is quite punk, and quite Green Day. 79. Belladonna - Ra Ra Riot Belladonna is Ra Ra Riots poppiest to date, and they don't disappoint with a huge chorus, great vocal performance, and serendipitous lyrics. 78. Look At Her Now - Selena Gomez We stan a gift for the fans. Again, Selena's vocal performance is umm, restrained. But the mmm-mm's are infectious, the instrumental is tight, and a bop is a bop. 77. Joy - Bastille "Joy" is truly a joyous song, and yea, it’s a corny Bastille song, but this is corny done right ok! Makes me want to watch a feel good lifetime movie. 76. Mr. Greenlight - Hua Li This lofi hip hop number really showcases her sultry Amy Winehouse esque singing voice as well as some solid flow during the rapped verses. Hua Li has a lot of potential! 75. STFU! - Rina Sawayama Rina came back with a different 90s sound, this time opting for the popular Grunge type music that coexisted with RnB tinged bubblegum pop. The lyrics leave a bit to be desired for me but the theme is awesome and the sound leave me curious for more. 74. This Life - Vampire Weekend "This Life" is my favorite rendition of the theme of marriage on the new VW album. The lyrics are smart and comical, and the chorus is memorable. 73. Real Love - Carly Rae Jepsen One of Carly's most verbose songs, and most vulnerable. I am not a huge fan of the post chorus drop but otherwise it's stunning. 72. Everything I Wanted - Billie Eilish An ode to her relationship with her older brother, where she recants waking from a nightmare and having him to protect her. Also a nice vocal performance from Eilish. 71. Wild Roses - Of Monsters and Men Wild roses is dramatic, solemn, and anthemic. Many key features to songs that brought them to fame, though sadder in tone than songs like Mountain Song and Little Talks.
ATRL Moderator kelly-clarkson Posted December 22, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 22, 2019 Look At Her Now deserved higher It's such a bop!!
TheWayWeWere Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 LAHN is cute bop, but it could've been better, these mmmm parts are a bit tiring
Lazuli Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 look at her now i find the mm mm a bit annoying tbh the "uh uh uh uh ima ima ima" is better idk why do ppl drag stfu it's such a great song this life, real love
Green Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 This Life , Look At Her Now, Everything I Wanted, Father of All... Look At Her Now is so catchy
Mr. Loco Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Wild roses & Everything I wanted are great tracks...

ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 22, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 22, 2019 Belladonna is a bop. sadly the rest of the album did not measure up for me look at her now, stfu!, this life, real love whew
jose168 Posted December 23, 2019 Author Posted December 23, 2019 70. On a Roll - Ashley O Miley's Black Mirror persona was a commentary on the vapid conveyor belt nature of pop music, and naturally the gays ate it up. What a f*cking bop! 69. There for You - Monet X Change Monet channels Sylvester here in a track that picks smart references, really highlights her vocal talents, and is gay as ****. She stated she didn’t want to make "drag queen music" with this EP, and here she succeeded. 68. Entre Los Dos - Y La Bamba One of Y La Bambas most arresting vocal performances, she crows, she belts, she screams. A simple repeating riff complements her performance well. The lyrics of not being enough for her partner are also quite raw. 67. Plains - Deerhunter This Whitney inspired (see the intro) track thankfully is one of the more lively on the new record, with funky synths, other quirky instrumentation, and an actual vocal performance from the lead. 66. Sheet Music (Episode 2) - Vince Staples A fun banger from Vince, while some klu-klux references may come off as more serious, it still lands as his most radio-ready to date. 65. 1, 2, 3 Dayz Up - Kim Petras/Sophie Sophie and Kim teamed up for a fun glitchy pop song. It's one of my favorite dance floor ready numbers this year and that’s all I can really say. 64. Juice - Lizzo Relistening to this I'd probably rate it higher each time. Juice was one of if not the most successful 80s throwback this year. Up there with iconic tracks like "Lovergirl" or "Physical". Lizzo shines with her dynamic vocal performance, boatloads of charisma, and juice. 63. Friends in High Places - Bear Hands Bear Hands has a fascination with the people upstairs, whether they are reptiles, oligarchs, Jesus, or ancient greeks. I think they both have distain for them but want some time in the high chair too. A cool spacy altrock track. 62. Want You In My Room - Carly Rae Jepsen Carly is at her best when she is quirky, fun, bubblegum, with a sprinkle of sexy. Those were the highs on Emotion, and here she reaches those heights. And as the inventor of the sax, it obviously fitting it makes an appearance. 61. Thousand Eyes - FKA Twigs I knew the moment this song started Magdelene was going to deliver. WAY to set the tone for the record. The vocal performance is chilling.

potent Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Wild Roses, Juice, Everything I Wanted, This Life I missed checking Ra Ra Riot this year, I'm not too familiar with them but I like some songs like Water and Beta Love. Joy is great, I wish more people were including it in their countdowns.
