Tom Vercetti Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Catching up now, Blinding Lights is really flashy. I dig it. The Kaytranda album was pretty bleh to me but I liked the Kali and Tinashe features from it. I hear Make It Better all the time whenever I turn my local r&b radio on Seems like a big hit. Albums: This year was a struggle for me on that. I won't say Songs For You is on Aquarius/Nightride level but anything is a step up from Joyride Blood Orange came and went for me too

Those two are def the highlights but I found it to be quite enjoyable. MIB makes for a perfect R&B slow jam. Not surprised Urban AC/R&B stations are eating it up. For albums was it just a lack of good music or were you just not actively looking for new music (I was the latter; that's why my album countdown is on the thin side ) SFY is no Aqu./NR but it's a step up from Joyride and is at least mixtape level. Can't ask for anything more at the moment If anything else, think of Angel's Pulse as a mixtape and the real album is coming later 57 minutes ago, Jorge said: Thank U, Next the best album ever Please, Don't Forget to comment on my Top 100 Countdown yes tun yes talent and will do

theblackestday Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Just 5 albums but you included the most important ones Magdalene and Songs for You so you're covered v glad you enjoyed both as much as you did.

Much like my songs list, I'll simply be doing this in alphabetical order and given the fact that I haven't listened to many albums this year, I'll just be showcasing the 5 albums that I enjoyed the most this year. There are a bunch of other albums that I also enjoyed but I either didn't listen to get the chance to listen to them much or didn't enjoy them as much as I did my top 5. Also, just like I have a favorite song, I have a favorite album (which will probably be much more obvious) that I'll showcase when I do my decade end countdown. Albums of 2019 Ariana Grande|thank u, next Blood Orange|Angel's Pulse FKA twigs|MAGDALENE LION BABE|Cosmic Wind Tinashe|Songs For You - Album HM: Reveal hidden contents Anderson .Paak|Venutra Ari Lennox|Shea Butter Baby Billie Eilish|WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? Kindness|Something Like a War Lizzo|Cuz I Love You Lucky Daye|Painted Orville Peck|Pony Steve Lacy|Apollo XXI Magdelene is my favorite record here. Tinashe is always good not great for me. Like her choices are usually good, and shes stylish but she doesnt really take it THERE for me. Maybe its her vocals.. dunno. Still a solid record.
World Eater Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 haven't listened to Peggy's DJ-Kicks, but I really liked her EP from earlier this year Rico can do no wrong, same with ROSALÍA agreed re: ScHoolboy, I liked NNJ, but the rest of the album was pretty meh I actually enjoyed Outer Peace, I'm probably in the minority lmao, the first two singles were especially soooo good wasn't a fan of Angel's Pulse which is a real shame because this is Dev's first release (well, as Blood Orange ) that I didn't care for tuna, MAGA and SFY
Eeveelution Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Songs for You and Magdalene really swooped in last minute to end the decade on a high tu,n has its moments but I prefer sweetener by a lot.

Pink Matter Posted December 30, 2019 Author Posted December 30, 2019 Now that my 2019 Countdown is complete, I'll be finishing my lists by doing my decade countdown. Instead of posting a bunch of albums from the beginning of this decade to the end of this decade that I enjoyed, I'll be posting my my singular favorite album of each year along with what my favorite song of that year was. This is because I only really got into digging deep into music around 2014 and even then I was only making surface level discoveries. Nonetheless, I feel like the albums and songs I'll post will still end up being some of the best offerings of their respective years. Also, I'm gonna forego doing write ups for my decade countdown since I'm getting v tired and I doubt most of you care anyways lol (). If you're interested in my thots, I'll glad make separate comments on them. With that being said, time to get into it! I'll be posting half of it now and half of it after New Years Eve. Decade End Countdown: 2010-2014 2010: Album: Kanye West|My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Song: Kanye West|Devil In a New Dress (feat. Rick Ross) 2011: Album: The Weeknd|House of Balloons Song: The Weeknd|What You Need 2012: Album: Frank Ocean|channel ORANGE Song: Miguel|Adorn 2013: Album: Beyoncé|BEYONCÉ Song: Beyoncé|Haunted 2014: Album: FKA twigs|LP1 Song: Lana Del Rey|West Coast

My initial fave was Let It Happen seemed like such an obvious choice (+ I don't particularly love it that much). Same goes for The Less I Know The Better and New Person, Same Old Mistakes. Eventually was an initial fave of mine but it's lost its luster a bit. In the end, I had to go with Reality In Motion; it grew on me over the years to become my fave song on the album! NFR (track) Never heard of Big K.R.I.T. hmmm I hadn't really caught up with most music prior to 2013/2014 so I didn't really feel I could do an entire ranked list of my fave albums of 50/100 albums from the entire decade. So I decided to just go with my favorite albums (and songs) of each year. Not nearly as accurate but it's the best I could do. Big KRIT is suuuper underrated. He should be Kendrick/Drake/J. Cole level big but he just wasn't lucky enough to get to their level commercially I'd give that album a listen if you're interested in getting into him. A perfect mix of what he can do as a rapper.
