1989 :jonny: ugh, such a pop excellence, her 2nd best album this decade

Posted

Death of a Bachelor :heart2: It's a good one but I feel like there's a few fillers  TG,TB&TD is so underrated! Don't Threaten Me is definitely the best track so I'm glad to see that high :alexz3:

1989 :worship: Her best album, an absolute masterpiece. I'm always interested to see rankings of this because it's basically like a Greatest Hits release. Hmm at You Are In Love + This Love being in the bottom 3, I remember when I felt the same way & now they're both highlights. :gaycat3: Hopefully they click for you some day. Wonderland and Bad Blood could switch places :keir: Blank Space and Clean slaying, as they should! :clap3:

Before posting the first position on the albums chart and getting over with this thing, I wanted to post a special top 10, for the songs that for some reason underperformed on my yearly best of, but grew on me later, and now I think that they deserved to chart much higher. I know this is supposed to be a "Best of the Decade", but there are a couple songs that are from earlier, as my yearly chart started in 2007, and I didn't want to miss the chance to give these songs the recognition they deserve.

#10. Pxndx "Procedimientos para Llegar a un Común Acuerdo"

Best of 2007: #30

2007 was the year I started to get into music, so many things, artists and songs happened during that year, that it was easy to miss a few things. I've liked Pxndx since I was a teenager, but now that nostalgia has made it's thing, I started really appreciating their music, and this one has grown to be my favorite song from this band.

#9. Bastille "Pompeii"

Best of 2014: #30

After this song, Bastille was only a 1HW for me, but last year I had the chance to watch them live, and started to get more into their music, and they have some great songs, and Pompeii also grew on me again after being forgotten for a while.

#8. Imagine Dragons "Whatever it Takes"

Best of 2018: #31

#7. Imagine Dragons "Radioactive"

Best of 2013: #47

At first, Imagine Dragons was just a cute rock band, but after I started to get more into their music, it grew on me a lot.

#6. Sia "Chandelier"

Best of 2014: #71

Back in the day, I tought this was a really annoying song (sometimes I still kinda do), but then Sia kept on releasing much great and amazing music, and this song kept coming back to me, until it turned out to be one of my streamed songs ever.

#5. James Blunt "Same Mistake"

Best of 2008: N/A

I heard this song a couple times when it was released, but didn't care much for it, it wasn't until many years later that I listened to it again, and it really got me and how beautiful this was.

#4. Panic! at the Disco "This is Gospel"

Best of 2013: #N/A

I really liked P!ATD during their debut era back in 2006, but after their second era dissapointed me a bit, I lost track of them for many years, until "Death of a bachelor" I listened to all their things I missed and realised they still had been releasing some great things, and this is one I regret to not having even listened during it's time.

#3. OneRepublic "Counting Stars"

Best of 2014: #38

I liked it when it was released, but I think it got overplayed and I stop caring for it, but somehow it's had an amazing longevity and has stood the test of time much better than other songs, and it feels like this is a song that never gets old for me.

#2. Imagine Dragons "Thunder"

Best of 2017: #18

Even if this song was released during the first half of the year, it took way too long to get recognition, and by the time I started getting into it, it was really late and even if it managed to get into the top 20 for that year, it turned out to be by far my most streamed song from that year and top 3 from all time.

#1. Eminem ft. Rihanna "Love the Way you Lie"

Best of 2010: #12

I know #12 is not really a bad position for a year-end chart, but it is a way too low position for a song that turned into one of my favorite songs from all time. When this song was first released I hadn't gotten myself into rap music yet, so even if I liked this song, it didn't get the love it deserved since the beginning.

#1. Eminem "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" (2013)

I know most of you don't listen much to Eminem, but this album is everything and has some of the very best from Eminem, it's a really powerful album, and yet meaningful and personal, it's balanced between it's collaborations and all of them bring so much to the table, while Em keeps on proving with each song why he is the best on the game.

The cover image features Eminem's old childhood home surrounded with trees and grass in rustic filter. On the top right corner, the album title and artist name appears.

#1. Headlights ft. Nate Ruess
#2. The Monster ft. Rihanna
#3. Rap God
#4. Legacy
#5. Beautiful Pain ft. Sia
#6. So Much Better
#7. Stronger than I was
#8. Survival
#9. Asshole ft. Skylar Grey
#10. Love Game ft. Kendrick Lamar
#11. Desperation ft. Jamie N Commons
#12. Berzerk
#13. Rhyme or Reason
#14. So far...
#15. Baby
#16. Brainless

Not Eminem sis :skull:

Hmmm  I listened to this once but I really don't remember anything aside from the singles. I even forgot about the collabs w/ people I like (Nate, Sia, Skylar...) The Monster and Rap God are enjoyable, Bezerk is alright. 1989 would've been an excellent #1, but then again she got blocked on my albums list as well :lakitu:

So I guess this is the end. This was a nice Best Of
