Stan!!!!!

Maybe if we're lucky at the rate we're going, Sky can make another appearance on my 2020s sequel list. And ik ASATT looked like I put it at a low spot, but as great as that album is lyrically, Home takes it up a big notch in my opinion from a sound design perspective. Total grower.

Anyway going to get into the top 50 soon. With a little more detail per  :fan:

Channel is a great, varied, and important record, but tbh I've always found it a touch overrated compared to all the other great albums within its 'genre.' I get I'm prolly still low-balling it, BUT, I hope once the whole list has been revealed that my true colors show. :eli: You can't tell me that the big 3 Odd Future boys didn't all find themselves by decade's end. Proud of them.

i LOVE that Balearic dance sound, the John album reminds me of Nic Jaar's work too and I love that for them. Need a follow up though. And in that case, good thing i am not a parent yet. :gaycat3: but for real although i struggled with TLOP for a time, it's just hard to beat that record's highs.

Well, we both have exemplary taste .:fan: Jeremih was kind of a trip live but that's still a classic mixtape to me. Mot sure to what degree u would enjoy, but I L O V E his voice over just about anything.

Thanks for the love guys. Promise to finish strong. Update tonite, I hope. :flower:

Continuing... sorry if I post these sporadically... now feat. RYM genre tags.

50. Jay Z - 4:44

East Coast Hip Hop
(Conscious Hip Hop, Jazz Rap)

Choice tracks: The Story of O.J., Smile, Family Feud

The album on which the on-record Jay-Z persona grows up, adopting something like wholesome good cop voice; Chun-Li. I found this to be a stellar and much-needed public response to Lemonade, narratively speaking, but trust that's not what earned 4:44 a spot this high. I also find it one of the best-sounding rap records released this decade, full stop. It's really about the beats. No I.D. did a prime job selecting and cutting samples that give the album a unique, colorful, and high-gloss feel -- worlds away from the drab Magna Carta. Very concise and replayable stuff. He even gives good advice!

49. Arca - &&&&&

Glitch Hop
(Wonky, UK Bass, Instrumental Hip Hop, Deconstructed Club)

Choice tracks: ...come back to me on this. Best taken as a whole. But I do love the cut with the Dre and Snoop samples, bout 7.5 mins in.

Arca's 3 albums so far all hit different pleasure spots in different ways, but it's this random Soundcloud loosie mixtape that strikes the hardest for me. A strange and mysterious beast, just like the one on the cover. I can't fully say that I understand it, but I'm happy just to try. Perfect length, too. One of the most vital producers this decade without question.

Just on Soundcloud as far as I know still, so here's that link:

idk, 4:44 is a bit messy, I think his last album that I really like was Blueprint 3
