K$Ellie Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 (edited) It's hard to compile a list of everything released in the last 10 years but hopefully I got most of them. I'll probs be more biased towards songs and albums from the beginning of the decade but overall the list should be pretty evenly spread as usual I'll comment back x Top 100 Songs Top 50 Albums Edited January 3, 2020 by K$Ellie

K$Ellie Posted December 5, 2019 Author Posted December 5, 2019 Top 50 Albums 50. Sleigh Bells - Treats Quote Standouts: Treats, Kids, Infinity Guitars Used to hate this but M.I.A. convinced me it was good when she sampled the title track a boppy noise album, not really any songs I dislike. Lowkey Kids sounds like The Chainsmokers' #Selfie because of the talking throughout 49. Lorde - Melodrama Quote Standouts: Green Light, Homemade Dynamite, Sober A biT overrated by Twitter gays but a very good album nonetheless. I think I appreciate it more in hindsight like I did with Emotion cause I wasn't really feeling it at first. Glad Green Light is getting lots of acclaim on these decade end lists cause it still slaps, the initial mixed reception was a kii Liability is still meh tho x 48. Beach House - Bloom Quote Standouts: On The Sea, Myth, Irene All their songs and albums pretty much sound the same but I'm pretty sure I enjoyed this one the most, Teen Dream and 7 were also great though. Only Troublemaker was subpar but I wouldn't necessarily skip it when listening to the album. On The Sea is so 47. Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman Quote Standouts: Into You, Be Alright, Knew Better / Forever Boy Still her best album, this and thank u, next are so much better than the other 3 I Don't Care, Side to Side and Leave Me Lonely are skips but the good songs more than make up for it, and they're not unlistenable or anything but I wouldn't go out of my way to play them. Everything else is at least an 8/10 we need more KB / FB's from her 46. Wonder Girls - Reboot Quote Standouts: Baby Don't Play, Rewind, GONE Generally regarded as the best k-pop album ever and I can't exactly disagree (even if there are two that are higher on the list). Sunmi's impact on this one is too much, the 80s sound ugh I can imagine the acclaim if a pop/indie girl had recorded this album, easily BNM from Bitchfork only thing is, the middle section from Loved -> Back could have been a little bit better? I like the 4 songs but they're not the best x So if y'all hate k-pop you should at least give this a try, I don't see how anyone could hate it 45. Taylor Swift - 1989 Quote Standouts: Style, Blank Space, All You Had To Do Was Stay Similar to Dangerous Woman where there are songs I don't use at all but more than half the album is 10/10s particularly Blank Space, Style, AYHTDWS, Shake It Off, Wildest Dreams, Clean and New Romantics I feel bad snubbing I Wish You Would and Wonderland tho the problem with all of Taylor's albums is that about 2-3 songs should have been cut but this is deff her best effort (I'll try to get into Speak Now soon x) 44. Ciara - Ciara Quote Standouts: Overdose, Body Party, Super Turnt Up The ONE time she served her albums range from decent to absolutely awful but this one is perfect? I know this was a bit of a comeback for her but she deserved to smash, if Body Party had been released a year or two later it would have smashed haven't even heard the new album but the singles were awful so I guess she regressed after this 43. Katy B - On a Mission Quote Standouts: Katy On a Mission, Broken Record, Easy Please Stanned this sooooo hard when it first came out, she was one of my faves at the start of the decade. I don't think I used the album tracks at the time but I revisted the album a while back and they were cute. All the singles slapped so hard ugh. Little Red was great too but too long, and then Honey was... 42. Ke$ha - Animal Quote Standouts: Animal, Take It Off, Your Love Is My Drug Ahhhhhh my original fave this might be dated by now but it was sooooo good at the time. Even the less good songs were huge bops, I've always had a vendetta again PAARDH tho the title track is still so good, one of her best songs this is dated done RIGHT, unlike the new **** she's been putting out ffff 41. Kelela - Take Me Apart Quote Standouts: LMK, Onanon, Truth or Dare I remember being disappointed by this at first I expected more bops like LMK but I'm happy with the direction she took in the end, the album grew on me a lot. I didn't like Frontline at all until the iconic video came out tbh btw Rewind is absolutely iconic and deserved to smash x
TheWayWeWere Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Crown on the Ground is iconic, Idc about others SB tracks yeah, Melodrama is such a grower fell in love with it after many months since release DW is cute and her first like really great pop record, but S and TUN >>> 1989 legendary I need another 'Ciara' by Ciara she better stawp with all these mediocre songs OAM & LR SLAYS, Honey was... uhm..cute but WHERE THE **** SHE IS NOW? TMA masterpiece
Diarrhoea Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Decent honourable mentions other than Cry Baby but I hate that for extra-curricular reasons so thought The Altar would be higher. Treats is great, RoT is better but I'll take it. Bloom is great but their worst offender in 'this ALL sounds the same'. All the other albums are v/ good too, maybe not Katy On A Mission though, I remember liking it a lot way back when but she's definitely an 'in small doses' kinda girl x edit: and yes Speak Now out-Taylored get into that
Killer Love Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Ciara, 1989 and Take Me Apart are amazing! Body Party was a top 30 hit actually
potent Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 I like Animal and Melodrama the most from these, I'm pretty sure I listened to Take Me Apart back then but I don't remember it too well. I haven't heard Ciara or Beach House's albums, but I liked the lead singles.
gagacasanova Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Melodrama, Dangerous Woman, 1989 and Animal

Red Light Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Perched to see what the two higher K-pop albums are. Reboot being so low is a bit of a crime but I'm stanning the three standouts you chose from it!

BlackoutZone Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 All I'm gonna say is that Honey is an excellent project just like everything Katy ever released Great choices, especially Katy, B that is
K$Ellie Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 (edited) Top 50 Albums 40. The Weeknd - House of Balloons Quote Standouts: House of Balloons / Glass Table Girls, The Morning, The Party & The After Party Sad how he peaked so early on, he really went from taking inspiration from Beach House + Cocteau Twins to mumble rappers and Daft Punk rejects such a cohesive album, this and EoS are truly his best work What You Need is lowkey trash but the rest is perfect 39. Azealia Banks - Broke With Expensive Taste Quote Standouts: Heavy Metal and Reflective, Yung Rapunxel, 212 Lowkey 1991 EP outsold this but it's still big bops. I miss the days when she'd actually evolve and try out different genres rather than rapping over the same, tired house beats like she's been doing for the last 5 years not huge on the first two songs but it really picks up after that - Heavy Metal goes hard and Yung Rapunxel is an experimental BANGER 38. twenty one pilots - Blurryface Quote Standouts: Heavydirtysoul, Doubt, Stressed Out They were such a FAD, I feel like all their fans have moved on including me. Trench lowkey sucked and the break, lack of social media presence and lack of promo really hurt their career. But their discography is still great overall and this album really went off, especially the first 6 songs which are back to back 10s. Even the songs I wasn't a big fan of (TV, Not Today, Goner) are nice in the context of the album still mad they didn't push Heavydirtysoul, one of their best songs 37. Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising Quote Standouts: Movies, Everyday, Andromeda copy and pasting this from my Best of 2019 x Obviously a stunning album that deserved an AOTY nom considering its 91 meacritic score ngl tho, my faves are the singles and I can't say I was underwhelmed by the album, but the album tracks weren't as amazing, especially with 2 songs being useless interludes and Something to Believe being meh. Still an incredible work of art but I think replacing either StB or NtT would have guaranteed its spot in the top 30 36. BTS - Love Yourself 承 'Her' Quote Standouts: Pied Piper, MIC Drop, Go Go Ahhh their best album all 8 songs slap but especially Pied Piper which is their best overall. The MIC Drop remix is absolutely disgusting but the original is easily top 10 in their discography, I'm gonna need their next title to be an experimental bop similar to this YNWA and Tear could have made the list if they had delete the 2 fillers but they pretty much did everything right with this one 35. Grimes - Art Angels Quote Standouts: Flesh Without Blood, Kill V. Maim, REALiTi Anyone who hates this is probs just trying to be edgy, I even kinda use Scream now so I guess I like every song Flesh Without Blood was one of the best songs of 2015 Belly of the Beat is soooooo underrated tho and Loona kinda ended her career when they released Loonatic lbr x 34. Kim Petras - Turn Off the Light Quote Standouts: Tell Me It's A Nightmare, Turn Off the Light, There Will Be Blood, Wrong Turn copying this from my Best of 2019 x The fact that she tacked the old songs onto the album kinda killed its replay value for me and the interludes after every song are tiring but the full songs all slap, not a single filler the interludes on their own are really good too, I just wish there weren't as many. Not to be rude but if Luke hadn't been trash and this were the music Kesha would be making, instead of that Raising Hell crap, then maybe I would still be a stan yeah nothing else to say other than she brought it this year, and this is by far her best project. Can't wait to see her in February and if she doesn't perform anything from this album then I'm done with her x 33. Florence + the Machine - Ceremonials Quote Standouts: Shake It Out, What the Water Gave Me, Never Let Me Go Loved this when it first came out, although I mostly used the singles. Gained more appreciation for the album tracks in recent years, ugh Seven Devils is so haunting too bad her music is uninspired and just plain bad these days x 32. Grimes - Visions Quote Standouts: Genesis, Be a Body, Skin Colour of Moonlight is really bad but I can ignore that cause the rest is perfect Genesis is one of the best songs of the decade and deserves Oblivion's acclaim 31. Janelle Monáe - Dirty Janelle Quote Standouts: Pynk, Make Me Feel, Screwed This is overhyped by pop fans and overhated by indies. It's a lot more generic and I suppose trashy than her previous efforts with worse writing and less cohesion but the standouts really make up for it. Pynk was my SOTY and even the messy songs are still bops. The movie was nice too, imagine if we got that for The ArchAndroid tho Edited December 8, 2019 by K$Ellie
