BlackoutZone Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 Want You In My Room and Now I'm In It Sunshine Kitty and Sucker Punch
Body Electrician Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 Sigrid was a bit generic imo Sunshine Kitty is def Tove's worst effort (unpopular opinion but Lady Wood >>>) FOTB had cute moments but overall... was it worth 6 years? Lover she really could have kept majority of those tracks. An album more in the vein of The Archer/Afterglow/Daylight would have been cuter, Taylor ha dream pop moment Marina the way I went from stanning hard during FROOT to literally trash talking her with every opportunity I get with SH*T + SMEAR
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 11, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2019 dorian was pretty cute for one listen reflections, songs for you, billie, dedicated songs, bad guy, nro, all the time , juice whew sucker punch was good. lovely debut lover being so high omg I disagree whew a bop, Haim are definitely servers
Mr. Loco Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Enjoy your life was actually a pretty nice song, Marina delivered Even if it's not as good as her other albums, Lover was a great work from Taylor
bestfiction Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 (edited) BESTFICTION'S TOP 20 ALBUMS OF 2019 #10 MAGDALENE FKA Twigs I’ve been sleeping on Twigs this entire time and it seems I have slept on A LOT. MAGDALENE is quite an amazing body of work, it sounds out of this world. I place MAGDALENE quite low cause I don’t listen to it very often but I was very impressed with it. Favorites: sad day, mary magdalene, fallen alien, cellophane #9 Charli Charli XCX Initially, I was quite disappointed with Charli but seeing her live definitely made me like it more. The main issue I have with this album is that sometimes it feels way too overproduced, to the point that some songs get tiring to listen to (e.g. Thoughs and White Mercedes) but when Charli goes all out experimental (Click, Shake It) or creates something clear and dazzling production-wise (Gone, Silver Cross), the album shines. Favorites: Gone, 1999, Click, Silver Cross, Shake It #8 thank u, next Ariana Grande thank u, next is, by far, Ariana’s best album yet. The production might be same old Max Martin and co. but this time around most of the songs have some interesting features, such as whistles in imagine or ethereal instrumental in ghostin’. That being said, the best thing about this album is its lyrics; while not very complicated, they are shockingly sincere and they sell the album to me. There are some duds, such as break up with your girlfriend and the “issa mood issa vibe” song but the rest of the album makes up for these atrocities easily. Favorites: needy, NASA, fake smile, ghostin’, thank u, next #7 slayyyter slayyyter Think of Britney Spears’ Blackout getting even more high octane and add the lyrics that glorify the glamour of 00s and you will get slayyyter’s debut mixtape. It’s so trashy and fun, I really couldn’t help but like it. Her 00s throwback aesthetics are very nice. Favorites: BFF, Mine, Alone, Devil, Ur Man, Celebrity #6 forevher Shura After the highly polished great synthpop debut, Shura returned with something much more lowkey, and I appreciated that a lot. Forevher sounds very cute and romantic and Shura’s shy personality makes the album much more endearing. Favorites: religion, the stage, flyin’, control Edited December 11, 2019 by bestfiction
bestfiction Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 BESTFICTION'S TOP 30 SONGS OF 2019 #20 I Forgot That You Existed Taylor Swift Idgaf what y’all will say, it’s a fun bop! I could relate to the emotion that you recall someone from your past who hurt you but the time has definitely healed you to the point you couldn’t care less about that person. #19 Click Charli XCX f/ Kim Petras & Tommy Cash/slayyyter Miss Charli went off with this one, I really loved the noisy production and the collapsing sound at the end. That being said, Kim has stolen the spotlight with her juicy rap part, she snapped hard. #18 Con Altura Rosalia & J Balvin feat. El Guincho I kinda feel bad for snubbing El Mal Querer last year but it’s growing on me literally right now so. Con Altura is a very enjoyable reggaeton bop. #17 Silent Movie Yubin K-pop group Wonder Girls has always embraced the retro aesthetic but Yubin is the only one who still sticks to it. Silent Movie is a fine modern take on city pop and the comparison of a fading relationship with a silent movie makes the song even more convincing. #16 Don’t Worry About Me Zara Larsson Holy ****, this is such a 90s infused BOP, who told miss Zara she could serve like that.

K$Ellie Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 The Shura album was nice. I wanted to like it more than I did but it didn't fully click with me. Some really good songs but also a few uneventful ones. I think if I had more time with it, it would have made my list but I only listened a week ago and ultimately decided to leave it off my top 25 religion was deff my favorite and I liked the stage a lot too Slayyyter had some bops but #7 is a bit generous The first 3 you listed are her best by far tho MAGAdalene and tu.n are amazing Charli was a choice also hate I Forgot That You Existed Con Altura is fun in a messy and generic way Don't Worry Bout Me slaps
potent Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 I was just recently listening to Shura's album, it definitely has some good and memorable songs but yeah I would need more time with it, Religion will chart high on my singles list though.
Lazuli Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 magdalene, thank u next, charli, forevher iftye is lover's worst song why is it so high

Ewan Chaos Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 great picks for Magdalene - I kinda hated the girl until this album LMAO so if you asked me, you weren't missing much before. Totally agreed with seeing Charli performed live really elevating the entire album. Thoughts is so underrated! But I toooootally understand why it's OTT for people. SLAY at Shura too - and flyin'! I think that track is so underrated.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 12, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2019 Good to see Magdalene, Slayyyter, and Charli so high. They're good albums. Forevher is good but I wouldn't put it top 10. IFTYE is an underrated lover song tbh.
Body Electrician Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 MAGDALENE but slightly too low... I liked Charli even tho N1A and P2 are both superior.. I get that she probably had to have more commercial songs on an actual album though. Some career bests on their though (Gone, CYO, Silver Cross, 2099)
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 13, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 13, 2019 magdalene charli seeing her live made the album grown on me thank u next, slayyyter, forevher all slays click a bop, con altura

bestfiction Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 (edited) BESTFICTION'S TOP 30 SONGS OF 2019 #15 Lose You To Love Me Selena Gomez Well well well, who would’ve thought that the Mexican Madonna would finally get her first #1 a decade into her career? It was absolutely deserved though, the song feels very intimate and personal, even though “sang off key in my chorus” line is a kii. #14 ghostin’ Ariana Grande Ariana’s best song, period, and a big surprise from her. I really love the eerie ethereal instrumental and the lyrics are very heartbreaking. #13 Noir Sunmi 2019 is the year when I have been into k-pop the most, and Sunmi's Noir shows that it was for a good reason; it's an excellent single, synthpop minimalistic instrumental fits very well with Sunmi’s cold and distant voice. I like how the songs has a lot of space to it. #12 religion (u can lay your hands on me) Shura Probably the closest we got to Nothing’s Real this era, the song stands out with more catchy sound and the strings are very cute. I also admire the religious metaphors that Shura has delivered on this one. All hail our Lesbian Pope! #11 Icy Kim Petras Whether you like her or not, Kim Petras has quite an attitude and she shows it on Icy in full. She plays the role of a brokenhearted person turned ice cold heartless bitch very convincingly. #10 Glad He’s Gone Tove Lo Glad He’s Gone was a massive grower to me; it’s not as punchy as Habits or Disco **** but it’s a chill relaxing bop. I also like the message of the song, relatable and it’s a classic Tove. #9 Mine slayyyter I really love this house-infused cut, it’s so addictive. #8 God Contol Madonna This song is an… experience. After a spoken word introduction with choir on a background Madonna takes us on a dancefloor, paying homage to her early 90s era, all of that to deliver a message about how unsafe this world become. It sounds really epic. #7 Look At Her Now Selena Gomez SALINA MOVE @ YO SALINA NOT MOVING #6 Happiness Is a Butterfly Lana Del Rey On this beautiful ballad, Lana Del Rey is yearning for simplicity and clarity in the relationship and she’s very effectively portraying her struggles. She’s ready to give herself to anyone, even if he’s a serial killer because she’s in such a pain and thinks that simple romance could resolve her issues. You can feel her emotions throughout the song, it’s very powerful. Edited December 20, 2019 by bestfiction
