Hmm Cuz I Love You was very weak for me, at least it didn't make the list :keir: Truth Hurts and the title track are nice tho :-*

I mostly agree with you commentary on Melanie but I still quite enjoyed the album :flower: Goblin is beautiful :weeps: the mini was lovely

The dishonorable mentions are pretty much on point, I like buwyg,ib but it's very generic and nowhere near the best on the album

Haven't heard the 3 albums in full but the singles were very weak  Raising Hell is hilariously bad so I kinda like it but it's objectively awful x

well Cuz I Love You gets a bit boring at the end, some soulful ballad in the back half would've worked very nice imo

When I was wathing K-12 movie I couldn't help but think how there amazing aesthetics are so much better than the music itself nnn

The Me! drag :clap3: Shook at buwyg appearing here but the rest of the list is very true

I mean, thank u next (the song) would've been such a perfect album closer: it shows how Ariana went through some serious troubles and came out of it learning some valuable lessons and buwyg,ib is like "naaaah I'm just gonna be a messy hoe anyway skskkskskksksks" :mazen: also while Ari is obviously not an avant garde singer but she can put an interesting twist on her songs, which she doesn't on break up with ur gf

1 hour ago, TheWayWeWere said:

I was excited about Natasha's comeback and I actually like Roller Skate, but album and that..era were such a non-event :skull: most songs are just okay and forgettable. POS & Strip Me >>> :'(

Her budget now is like $3 sis :rip: at least we've got something over 9 years. Now she needs to leak The Next Chapter

1 hour ago, TheWayWeWere said:

y'all better stawp with all that L+F slapping :'( it's not THAT bad, yeah, it's bad comparing to her previous works, but there's many bops here and there :'(

That's the point :rip: the only way it could get any worse is if it was straight up cheap and unlistenable

1 hour ago, TheWayWeWere said:

Kesha slayed with Rainbow, but yeah RH is not the tea :rip: that Big Frida girl ruins everything even more :rip:

Well Miss Freedia certainly didn't ruin one certain 2019 song :eli: stay tuned x

I like Natasha but I didn't really bother with her this year, I forgot how Kick It sounds like :rip:

Cuz I Love You is a solid album though, a little cheesy but definitely has some bops :clap3:

I can understand HAW in the dishonorable mentions, but I did love TMIO, I wish it got more attention.

BESTFICTION'S TOP 20 ALBUMS OF 2019

#20

Flamboyant

Dorian Electra

a2249893828_10.jpg

I have been holding off listening to it but it turned out to be quite fun actually. The production felt a bit trite closer to the end but Dorian puts quite an entertaining twist on issues such as toxic masculinity and homophobia.

Favorites: Career Boy, Daddy Like, Man to Man

#19

Reflections

Hannah Diamond

reflections.jpg

Many fans didn’t like how this album barely had new tracks but I’ve never paid attention to Hannah before so I pretty much enjoyed this album. Hannah’s PC music isn’t as boundary pushing as let's say Charli’s but she makes up for sonic cohesion and cute sweet image. Also the cover art is very pretty.

Favorites: Reflections, Concrete Angel, The Ending, Shy

#18

Songs For You

Tinashe

457a2ffe6b8856e05d6c99552e181343.1000x1000x1.jpg

Another artist I’ve never paid attention to despite so many stans hyping her up. I heard Tinashe had a bad record deal that limited her freedom so if breaking free from the contract was the price to pay for this album to come to existence, the price is pretty much fair. Tinashe shows off her strengths quite effectively and serves many nice bangers as well as more soulful tracks.

Favorites: Hopscotch, Save Room For Us, Perfect Crime, Touch & Go

#17

When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

Billie Eilish

8d0c9c6c98a730671d9e18022d22bf6e.jpg

This took a while to grow on me but I can’t help but appreciate that behind Billie’s gimmicks there’s actually great music. The production on this album is top notch and Billie’s lyrics can be suddenly quite endearing. I can respect that.

Favorites: bad guy, you should see me in the crown, all the good girls go to hell, when the party’s over

#16

Dedicated

Carly Rae Jepsen

1033026419.jpg

The album really felt like a non-event and I guess Carly’s signature 80s throwback sound is getting a bit worn out but she still gave us some great pop songs this year. Want You In My Room sounds like a Bleachers song which is always welcome, Too Much sounds like a low-key version of Dua’s Be The One which is also a compliment rather than a complaint. The singles leading up to the album are also very nice.

Favorites: Now That I Found You, Want You In My Room, Everything He Needs, Too Much, Party For One.

BESTFICTION'S TOP 30 SONGS OF 2019

#30

Narcissus

Róisín Murphy

m1000x1000

Róisín Murphy has strayed from the disco sound that made her appealing since her solo career started but with the string of stand-alone singles that started last year, she has returned to a more accessible sound. Narcissus is an enjoyable, even though a bit cheesy, disco cut.

#29

bad guy

Billie Eilish

5ce6a458dd120_52057150_119358892492545_8396249604828270056_n.jpg

Billie's best song by far to me. She grabbed my attention while listening to the album with the song instantly. But girl, NEVER make a contact with Justin Bieber again.

All the Time

Zara Larsson

IUxvGZYAAh.jpg

After the underwhelming debut I don’t think anyone would expect from Zara to serve pop excellence on the level of Run Away With Me or Into You. Yet here it is.

#26

Juice

Lizzo

Damn ma, this is such a funky bop. We literally had no choice but to stan.

I undestand that Melanie was in a difficult situation but didn't she shoot a whole ass movie after the accustions? :rip: The label should've invested the money into updating the sound for 2019 instead even though the movie was pretty.

TMIO has this doo-wop sound which is cute but why would Avril sing this song? :deadbanana2: Stylisitcally I don't think it's really for her.

BESTFICTION'S TOP 20 ALBUMS OF 2019

#15

Sucker Punch

Sigrid

1.jpg?1546448741

Scandinavians have always been excellent when it comes down to pop music and here’s an another proof of that. Sigrid’s debut is a very polished pop album production-wise and her quirky personality reminds me of Oh Land a lot, which I admire.

Favorites: Basic, Strangers, Business Dinners, Never Mine

#14

Sunshine Kitty

Tove Lo

5b39503f1b56200af374d32da457a7f4.jpg

I’ll be honest, I was slightly disappointed with this one. Sunshine Kitty lacks the concept or overall idea that was present in Tove’s  previous  LPs and doesn’t really surpass its predecessors sonically or lyrically. Still, a very nice album; Glad He’s Gone was a massive grower, Really Don’t Like U was a nice surprise (Kylie is my fave after all) and is a literal pop perfection and the rest doesn’t really drops the quality bar. I just wish there was something more to it.

Favorites: Glad He’s Gone, Are U Gonna Tell Her?, Mateo, Really Don’t Like U

#13

Father of the Bride

Vampire Weekend

vampire-weekend-father-of-the-bride-album-cover.jpg

Wow this one is really bloated with filler but I kinda liked it anyway??? I can appreciate the cozy and lowkey vibe that FOTB has, it sounds pretty endearing. Danielle Haim features are all great and they dropped some of the finest songs of the year during the album rollout, especially Harmony Hall and This Life. The album falls apart heavily towards the end anyway, had VW trimmed the fat, it would probably got a top-10 position.

Favorites: Hold You Now, Harmony Hall, This Life, How Long?, We Belong Together

#12

Clarity

Kim Petras

Kim-Petras-Clarity-Album.jpg

As an artist, Kim is coming to her realized form with her first album, or should I say project. She fully embraces the pop music in the way it always was without going social or political, singing about love, temptations, sex and so on. Clarity is quite a cohesive and enjoyable project and Kim’s vocals are pretty impressive.

Favorites: Icy, Got My Number, Sweet Spot, Do Me

#11

Lover

Taylor Swift

Screen-Shot-2019-08-26-at-4.21.23-PM-1566851045-640x641.png

Talking about bloated albums, hello there Ms. Swift! The filler tracks on this one are so easy to spot out, I can’t comprehend how did they make it to the tracklist. Maybe streaming age is taking its toll. However, most of the album cuts are very enjoyable and charming and Taylor’s songwriting got even more solid to me. I Forgot That You Existed is so fun I couldn’t help but cackle the first time I heard it. Cruel Summer, I Think He Knows are all big bops as the kids would say. However, aside from horrible singles I also felt that sonically Lover is a mix of Red, 1989 and rep that got washed out in the process that makes me think the album will age badly. But we’ll see.

Favorites: I Forgot That You Existed, Cruel Summer, I Think He Knows, Death by a Thousand Cuts, Afterglow

I Disagree

Poppy

698e1e7db397b606cc22322579f2ece5.1000x1000x1.png

Poppy going to metal is surprisingly the best thing that happened to her, she sounds much more authentic. Her pop stuff was intended to expand her internet persona but it never really excelled at doing so.

#24

Want You In My Room

Carly Rae Jepsen

1558307732_1558306882_1558306458_cover.jpg

As I said, it sounds like a Bleachers song. I love Bleachers songs.

#23

Enjoy Your Life

MARINA

cover.jpg

I have found that the message of the song was rather unique; most of us are very focused on achieving a perfect life without any problems and mistakes but Marina says that sometimes something that was broken doesn’t necessarily have to be fixed: just sit back and relax. This song just stands tall over the other (mostly horrid and uninspired) songs on L+F.

#22

FANCY

Twice

912w2ISHDOL._SY355_.jpg

This one is for you @K$Ellie. I used to be a Twice hater cause their style seemed to be very childish but FANCY showed Twice evolving and getting more mature which I love. This song is a JAM. Hopefully Twice will suprise me more in the future.
