Um... Butterfly is far too low  I thought you stanned Don't Start Now harder as well, I expected them in the top 5 :fan:

For some reason both didn't click with me initially but I love them now :-* gone (V) and Adore You were cute but I don't stan :keir:

I agree with the Gone (Charli) comments, although Gone aged for me a bit and I always hated Christine's pronunciation :thing:

You are kinda correct, it deserved top 5, but so did all the songs I put in the top 5  At this point positions don't really matter :alexz3:

DSN is an amazing bop and a great lead choice, but it's far from being my favorite song of Dua's catalogue. Butterfly was pretty instant for me though, the video adds a lot to it too :alexz:

I'm glad it didn't age for me, cause it would feel bad to completely drop her off the list when she finally managed to release the album after all this time

nnnn not you shading TL and GH like that :rip: Tough Love >>> :alexz: I love all 3 drop-lets right now, I feel like album going to be excellent

OH TH shade wasn't really intentional! It's a great album and I actually love a lot of Glasshouse too, but Devotion remains her peak and I'm glad she is closer to it more than ever :clap3:

Still don't understand your love for Gone (by VÉRITÉ), it's a cute track but When You're Gone is literally leagues better  Cute choices overall but Gone (by Charli) doesn't deserve Top 10.

Maybe one day you will, Verite just grew as an artist and I'm glad I love her new sound :fan:

Yep, gone is really great & the album is weak! Wish I appreciated the song more when it came out, I only really started noticing it when new skin dropped. Don't Start Now and Gone are jams :katie2: And we have the same top 2 from Charli  (album):gaycat3:

It is weaker than the debut, but I do not consider it weak overall, it just needs more time to be appreciated and it's definitely too short!

Adore You is great too, I really wish I had paid more attention when it was released.

It was such a non event and the fact none of the songs this era get any videos is a bit disappointing, but obviously justified by her pregnancy!

#5 FKA twigs - mary magdalene

Objectively cellophane does deserve this place more indeed, but I'm such a sucker for title tracks and this one elevated MAGDALENE for me to the highest level.

EGhf237.png

 #4 Caroline Polachek - Door

Literally a cult classic already, masterpiece, I'm so looking forward to what Caroline has to offer next, cause though it won't be easy to top PANG I know she is definitely capable of even greater things.

pkshAO3.png

#3 Caroline Polachek - Ocean of Tears

Same comment as to Door, I cannot choose which one is better, they are equally perfect and though I didn't want to flood this list with Caroline, half of the album could easily be there. The videos are also incredible.

S4Xeh1R.png

#2 Carly Rae Jepsen - No Drug Like Me

This was my #1 for most of 2019, but at this point pretty much every song in top 5 is the one. Pop perfection, couldn't be more impressed that Carly managed to serve something on RAWN's level again.

and now for the #1 song of 2019...

Spoiler

SONG OF THE YEAR

KnKEijB.jpg

DUA LIPA - FUTURE NOSTALGIA

There is so much you could say about this track and it's so easily Dua's best song yet. I find it incredible how we are only in her 2nd era and she is already serving such classic.  As someone who had a chance to hear the record I can say that the song is literally about the album itself. It embodies both the sound of the entire record, taking what's best of it and blending it together, but also the attitude she is serving throughout. I adore how the track is built on a repeated (yet not so in your face) sample of low, heavily vocodered voice saying Future Nostalgia which gave me an insatnt thought of Daft Punk though the song itself isn't really dominated with melodic 80s synths. Instead they are rather toned down, the verses are a bit aggresive, grunge in production yet full of attitude with her vocals/lyrics, but then the chorus is literally striking with that glass shattering sound (which is much more noticable in the lyrics video version), lots of melodic layers of vocals and rich instrumentation. I feel like this song is slightly what Ariana wishes she achieved with The Light is Coming or Justin Timberlake attempted to do with Filthy, but Future Nostalgia is far more interesting and well thought out than both of them.

Stream it and prepare yourself for Dua's upcoming masterpiece album:

Wow, i didn't expect that Future Nostalgia will be #1 on someone's best of 2019 :clap3:

Oh wow the taste!

I don't know how you couldn't place Cellophane higher but Mary Magdalene is also amazing.

Ocean of Tears is actually one of my least favourites on Pang (though of course all the songs are amazing), but Door is great.

Same goes for No Drug Like Me, I love it but there's just so many stronger tracks on Dedicated for me personally.

Future Nostalgia is a well deserved #1 :clap3:

This is a phenomenal top 5 for songs. mary magdalene, personally in my top 2 of that album. Feminism won!

Perfect picks for Caroline as well, personally I think Door is a tiny bit above OoT (ooh same abbreviation as Ocarina of Time lmao), but including both is a great choice. No Drug Like Me IMO deserved that top spot! But it's like one of her best songs ever so the fact that she's even top 2, not surprising.

Ooh, love that pick for #1, though you did get a bit of a head-start with the track so it makes sense :eli: Really looking forward to the new record esp after reading your comments!

It's so funny you mention Ocarina of Time, cause the album overall feels inspired by classic games for me! The cover obviously screams Lara Croft, but I also noticed that Hey Big Eyes sounds like some Ocarina of Time soundtrack :omg:

Julien an opener. You stated nothing but facts on Don't Worry Bout Me. Noir Kpop soty.
Downhill Lullaby... I don't like her. why? cause I think she's a lie.
Kill V. Maim sweetie, The Greatest sweetie (but here for the title track pick!)
Don't Start Now, Adore You, Gone 9ux70nK.png Charli is messy but has its jams
Cellophane snubbed from top 10 but... I'm seeing Ms. Magdalene at #5 and 8ikwNxb.gif well deserved!

Door masterpiece :heart2: ocean of tears great gowns...

NDLM finally getting recognized as the best song on Dedicated dRY7ADm.gif

Surprising number one! I was pleasantly surprised by her serves. always knew she was the best new pop girl since 2015 and has this in her. Her debut will be the 2020's E•mo•tion I planted the seed and we'll see the harvest.

Great list!
