50. Sigrid

 

 

Norwegian pop singer Sigrid didn't really had a big hit on my singles countdown in 2019, but her debut album "Sucker Punch" still delivered enough bops to give her a spot on my Artists list.

 

49. Mark Ronson

 

 

His album "Late Night Feelings" was a big disappointment for me. Only the singles were good and technically, artists like Camila, Miley or Lykke are the real reason why he made the list. But atleast he's kinda cute.

 

48. Alice Merton

 

 

Three years after "No Roots", Alice Merton finally released her debut album and it was quite good. "Why So Serious" and "Funny Business" weren't that big on my Countdown, but both songs charted for a few weeks atleast.

 

47. Meghan Trainor

 

 

Meghan released a bunch of songs this year, but nothing really took off, which is sad. "Badass Woman", "With You", "Genetics" and "Wave" were all bangers and her Friends Theme cover was also cute. I'm excited for her third album, even tho i doubt that it will be a big commercial success.

 

46. P!nk

 

 

Only 1 1/2 years after "Beautiful Trauma", P!nk already released her next album "Hurts 2B Human", which had a few good songs, but was a little medicore overall and had a completely wrong lead single. With that said, the Japan bonus track "More" is still one of the most beautiful ballads that were released this year.

50. Lennon Stella - Breakaway

 

 

This song was released in 2018, but i peaked at #1 in the beginning of 2019 and deserves a spot on this countdown. Lennon solo releases after "Nashville" were all amazing so far and i hope she will only become more successful from now on. Her angelic voice mixed with that sensual beat makes this song almost hypnotic.

 

49. Tulisa - Daddy

 

 

Tulisa finally returned to music this year and even tho this song isn't a masterpiece, it's definitely catchy and so much fun. And who doesn't like a Daddy? 

 

48. Carly Rae Jepsen - Too Much

 

 

For me, Carly didn't manage to top "Emotion" with her latest album "Dedicated", but it still had some amazing pop songs. "Too Much" was one of the standouts and an obviously single choice. The song is infectious and really relatable.

 

47. FLETCHER - If You're Gonna Lie

 

 

Talking about relatable, this one is another bop that falls under this category. "Undrunk" was her little breakout hit, but i liked "If You're Gonna Lie" way more. Great lyrics and her runs in the last chorus sound like heaven. I hope she will also become way bigger next year.

 

46. Bea Miller & 6LACK - it's not u it's me 

 

 

I feel like this countdown only consist of underrated pop girls, because Bea is another one of them. With this catchy synth-pop track, Bea started her new era and it's very promising. That sound really suits her. Also, i'm not always a fan of rap features, but 6LACK really adds something to almost every song he's on.

 

 

Top 100 Albums

 

50. Aly & AJ - Sanctuary - EP

 

 

These two legends released another EP and it's even better than the first one. This whole 80's nostalgia synth-pop sound is really fresh and suits them so well. "Star Maps" is literally a pop masterpiece.

 

49. Léon - LÉON

 

 

This talented swedish singer finally managed to get her debut album out this year and it's really good, especially the three released singles were all really infectious. "Lost Time" and "Better in the Dark" also deserved single treatment tho.

 

48. Freya Ridings - Freya Ridings

 

 

"Lost Without You" and "Castles" are the obvious standouts from this album. Everything else is also nice, but the reason why this album is in the Top 50 is mostly because of these two songs.

 

47. Ashley Tisdale - Symptoms

 

 

For me, one of the most anticipated comebacks of 2019. Does it come close to "Guilty Pleasure"? No. But is it a cute, little pop album? Absolutely yes.

 

46. Alessia Cara - The Pains of Growing

 

 

Alessia has such a great talent for writing lyrics. Some songs of this album are probably the most relatable one i've heard this year. She deserved way more success with this album.

 

 

TV Shows

 

50. iZombie - Season 5 (5.01 - 5.13)

 

 

I will always like this show, but the last season was a little dull. It still had some fun ideas in relation to Liv's personality changes, but the overall story arc wasn't that exciting. 

 

You're the Worst - Season 5 (5.01 - 5.13)

 

 

For me, Gretchen and Jimmy were always one of the most relatable couples on TV and i love how the show dealt with topics like depression. The last season also had some good moments, but it was also clear that the show didn't had much left to tell.

 

48. Younger - Season 6 (6.01 - 6.12)
 

 

I binge-watched the first five seasons this year and fell in love with this show very fast. But it's also one of this shows that should find an end date in the near future. It's still fun most of the time, but at this point, everyone knows Liza's real age. I still think there is enough potential for one final season tho.

 

47. Batwoman - Season 1A (1.01 - 1.09)

 

 

I don't think that Ruby Rose is that bad in the role of Batwoman, but she's still kinda bland. But so was Stephen Amell in the first season of "Arrow", so we'll see. And the show still has Alice, who is a great villain.

 

46. Russian Doll - Season 1 (1.01 - 1.08)

 

 

Very interesting show with a great Natasha Lyonne. I wasn't that invested in this shows, to be honest, but it still captured my attention enough to watch the whole season.

40. IO

 

 

This dystopian thriller was just a snooze fest and felt like it didn't go anywhere.

 

39. Ride

 

 

I really like Bella Thorne for some reason, even tho she isn't the best actress. This B movie thriller was okay, i guess, but nothing to exciting.

 

38. Central Park

 

 

Well, i've seen worse, but also way better. Just another slasher flick with dumb teens that make dumb decisions and have dumb dialogues.

 

37. Toybox

 

 

B-Horror movies with Mischa Barton are kinda my guilty pleasure. This one wasn't that bad. It even had one or two almost kinda scary scenes, but overall, i wouldn't call it a great movie.

 

36. 12 Feet Deep

 

 

I like claustrophobic underwater movies and this one had a promising beginning, but they decided to go in a very weird direction in the second half and added an annoying and unnecessary character. You can tell that they didn't really have a good idea how to expand this simple storyline into an 80 or 90 minutes movie.

45. Madonna

 

 

After four years, Madonna returns to my Artist Countdown, thanks to her latest album "Madame X". I'm not the biggest fan of the album, but it has some interesting songs and a few bops. "Medellin" grew on me after a while and even charted in my Countdown. "Faz Gostoso" is the real hit of the album tho.

 

44. Bea Miller

 

 

I wasn't a big fan of Bea when she was on "X Factor" years ago, but i was impressed how she was one of the few ones of this show who managed to grow a fanbase, besides Fifth Harmony. I also like how how she evolves as an artist. "it's not u it's me", "feel something" and "That Bitch" are all great songs.

 

43. FLETCHER

 

 

I already liked her debut EP in 2016, especially "Live Young Die Free" and "Wasted Youth". This year, she returned with her second EP and even got a little hit with "Undrunk", which i'm very happy about, even tho it's not her best song. She's also one of these artists with very relatable lyrics and her voice is amazing.

 

42. Carlie Hanson

 

 

Another underrated artist on this list. Even tho nothing that she released that year was better than "Numb", "Only One" or "Goodbye", she still put out some cute pop tracks and finally released her first EP.

 

41. Tiësto

 

 

Another male artist who is basically only on this list because of female artists. But he deserves credits for producing "Ritual", maybe THE best song of the summer. "God is a Dancer" is also a banger.

 

40. Kim Petras

 

 

I never really paid much attention to Kim Petras. She had a few cute songs, but nothing that made me stan her. I still don't, but her debut album "Clarity" has some real great bops, especially "Do Me".

 

39. BLACKPINK

 

 

I was never a fan of K-POP music and still doesn't care for most of it, but when i listened to "Kill This Love" for the first time and saw live performances from them, i was literally obsessed with BLACKPINK for a few weeks. "Kill This Love" is also one of my favorite music videos of the year.

 

38. Cassadee Pope

 

 

It's been a while since Cassadee made it on this list. A whole six years, to be specific. In 2019, she finally released another album. It didn't have another "Wasting All These Tears", but it was still really strong and has country pop bops like "One More Red Light" and "Distracted". Kinda sad that it didn't have much success.

 

37. Normani

 

 

By the end of 2018, Normani released "Waves", which became one of my favorite tracks by an Ex-Fifth Harmony member. I don't really have an explanation why this song wasn't my number #1 for weeks, because it would've deserved it. But atleast her first solo single "Motivation", which was also a bop, made it to #1. I'm excited for everything she will release next.

 

36. Daya

 

 

It's really sad that she didn't have another hit after "Sit Still, Look Pretty", because her music got so much better. Every song she released this year was basically pop perfection.

 

 

Top 100 Singles

 

45. Zara Larsson - Don't Worry Bout Me

 

 

"Don't Worry Bout Me" is a infectious break-up song, which peaked at number #8 on my singles chart, but didn't really connect to the GP. It's kinda sad that she's struggling so much at the moment, because her material is still really good.

 

44. Nicky Romero & Olivia Holt - Distance

 

 

Olivia Holt is the QUEEN of dance features. Last year, she ruled my countdown with songs like "16 Steps" and "Wrong Move" and this year, she even managed to get three songs into my 2019 Countdown. This catchy summer dance track peaked at number #4 and spent twelve weeks in my Top 50. 

 

43. Becky G - LBD

 

 

This was a good year for Becky fans who released a ton of music. One of them was "LBD", a very sexy pop track, that peaked at number #2 on my countdown and stayed in the top 50 for ten weeks.

 

42. Daddy Yankee & Katy Perry - Con Calma (Remix)

 

 

To be honest, i'm not sure if i ever heard the original of this song, but i don't even want to, because Katy's part is just so good. I can't imagine this song without her. The song climbed to number #6 on my countdown and left the Top 50 after eleven weeks.

 

41. Ariana Grande - thank u, next

 

 

To be honest, this isn't one of my favorite Ariana tracks, but it's so catchy. And the iconic music video makes it 100x better.

 

40. Julia Michaels - Body

 

 

Easily the best song from both EPs, Julia put out this year. The production and the vocals are on point and the lyrics are relatable.

 

39. Little Mix & Nicki Minaj - Woman Like Me

 

 

One of my favorite songs of 2018 made this list again, thanks to a remix with Ms Banks. I'm still not sick of this bop. It sounds as fresh as it did on the day of the release.

 

38. Raye - Love Me Again

 

 

It's kinda sad that Raye seems to stand in the shadow of Mabel, because she deserves the same success. "Love Me Again" is an almost perfect pop song.

 

37. Becky G, Digital Farm Animals & Rvssian - Next To You

 

 

It doesn't matter if Latin, Pop, Dance, Spanish or English - Becky G slays in every genre or language. This dance pop is another prove of that.

 

36. Camila Cabello - Shameless

 

 

"Liar" seems to be connect more to the GP, but from the first listen, i liked "Shameless" much more. I love the darker vibe of the song and the production is everything.

45. Tinashe - Songs For You

 

 

With only like two weeks, Tinashe's latest album made it into my Top 50 of  2019. "Songs For You" combines her Mixtape sound with her pop sound and the result is one of the best album she ever released.

 

44. BLACKPINK - Kill This Love - EP

 

 

Like i already said, i was kinda obsessed with BLACKPINK for a few weeks, especially with "Kill This Love". "Don't Know What To Do" is also a bop.

 

43. Broods - Don't Feed the Pop Monster

I was a little disappointed by their second album, but their third album made up for it. It's a little shift in their sound to a more warmer sound, but it suits them very well. It's a nice and chill album.

 

42. Sabrina Claudio - Truth Is

 

 

"Rumors" alone is reason enough to have this album in my Top 50 of 2019. "Problem With You" deserves also to be a single.

 

41. Madonna - Madame X

 

 

"Madame X" is a very experimental album for her (atleast from the albums i know). There are songs from this album i really like and songs that i don't like at all, like "God Control". There is not much in between.

 

40. Anitta - Kisses

 

 

Her "Solo" EP was the first time that Anitta really captured my attention and the EP was followed by this visual album, which has some amazing bops.

 

39. Various Artists - Charlie's Angels (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

 

 

The soundtrack to the "Charlie's Angels" reboot recieved mixed reviews on ATRL, but i liked it. "Don't Call Me Angel" and "Bad To You" are probably not Ariana's best songs, but they are still cute bops and more than good enough for a Soundtrack to a probably medicore movie. I haven't watched it yet, because it comes out in January here in Germany.

 

38. Various Artists - 13 Reasons Why (Season 3)

 

 

Season 3 was way better than the second season, but the soundtrack still doesn't managed to top the soundtrack of the first season. It still has some great songs, like "Teeth" by 5 Seconds of Summer or "Keeping It In The Dark" by Daya.

 

37. Nura - Habibi

 

 

Nura is one half of the german Hip-Hop duo SXTN. While her Ex-bandmate Juju is the commercially more successful one, i do like Nura's more urban pop style more. The lyrics are mostly about drugs and sex, so everything the german youth likes to hear in songs.

 

36. Mark Ronson - Late Night Feelings

 

 

I was actually very disappointed in this album and it's only so high because of the great songs with Lykke Li, Camila Cabello and Miley Cyrus.

 

 

TV Shows

 

45. Roswell, New Mexico

 

 

I watched only a few episodes of the original, but still was interested in the reboot and it was kinda nice. Nothing special, but i liked it. This show finally has a male gay couple that i like. Also, the cast is basically a TVD / TO reunion.

 

44. Whiskey Cavalier

 

 

The show Lauren Cohan left TWD for flopped and was cancelled after one season, which isn't a surprise. I'm not as mad as i was when "Take Two" was cancelled last year, but i would've still liked a second season of "Whiskey Cavalier". It wasn't an amazing show, but it was fun and the cast had good chemistry.

 

43. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

 

 

This year, we also had to say goodbye to this bunch of over the top, but very likeable people. The final six episodes weren't the best of the series, but were still entertaining.

 

42. Scream

 

 

After a long wait, we finally got a third season of "Scream". I liked that we got the old mask back and this season also felt more consistent, probably because it was shorter and they didn't drag it out for two seasons. But i still missed the old cast. The season was entertaining, but obviously didn't come even close to the movies.

 

41. The Good Place

 

 

The characters are the strength of this show and i will really miss them. Storywise, it's interesting, but sometimes seems to move forward to slow or it goes back and forth.

 

 

Movies (Streaming / DVD / Blu-Ray)

 

35. The Final Wish

 

 

Even with horror icon Lin Shaye, this movie was nothing more than medicore.

 

34. Wine Country

 

 

Even with so many comedy talents, the movie didn't manage to get many laughs out of me. It was amusing at best.

 

33. Secret Obsession

 

 

This movie is like a too predictable TV version of the Nicole Kidman movie "Before I Go To Sleep". The only fun thing about this movie is to make fun about it.

 

32. K-12

 

 

Visually and musically, this movie was very appealing, but storywise, i got bored after like half of the movie.

 

31. Eli

 

 

The first hour of this Netflix horror movie is nothing more than a medicore Haunted House movie, but the ending kinda saves it a little bit, thanks to an unexpected twist. Still, the ending isn't good enough to turn "Eli" into a great movie.

 

30. Rattlesnake

 

 

Another Netflix horror movie. It was definitely more consistent than "Eli" and i enjoyed it, but it's not a very memorable movie.

 

29. Elizabeth Harvest

 

 

Interesting movie and storyline and it was also visually very appealing, but in the end, it didn't excite me enough to get a higher spot on this list.

 

28. The Haunting of Sharon Tate

 

 

I wouldn't call this movie bad and i'm not against turning real life crimes into a movie, but it should stay true to the real events and this one doesn't. It feels a little insensitive to Sharon Tate's family and the families of the other victims. But if you see this as a completely fictional movie, it wasn't really bad and Hilary's acting was also enjoyable.

 

27. Wounds

 

 

Captivating, psychological horror, in which the viewer constantly wonders whether everything is a supernatural curse or if the main character is just slowly going mad. The movie has a slow pacing, but Armie Hammer delivers a convincing performance. It's also a shame that Dakota Johnson is mostly known for the trashy Fifty Shades films because she's actually a pretty good actress.
 

26. Five Feet Apart

 

 

Usually, i like these tragic and romantic teenie movies, but this one just didn't really touch me. It was fine, but nothing more. Maybe it's because i am just not the biggest fan of Cole Sprouse.
